As a dude with aspergers i have to say, autism is not “quirky”, struggling every day to interact with people socially is not a fun “uh oh shakey hand awkward thing”. You got diagnosed, got what you wanted, I'd also like to mention that the psychiatrist added "like we said last time" indicating it's not the first time that this person has tried to get a DID diagnosis. You have A DISORDER nevertheless so go brag about that on tiktok. My god

@asroczka I'll admit, it's not nearly at as bad of a level as some people have it. For me, it's mostly minor flashbacks, trouble sleeping, and severe night terrors. I think it's harder for my partner because he has to ease me back to sleep when I wake up screaming from time to time. But the ADHD definitely makes it worse when you're trying to pull yourself out of a mental loop of bad memories and you legitimately can't stop yourself from fixating on it. We're all out here surviving.

There’s a girl I go to college with, I think she’s 20, and she says she has ADHD and Autism. Now, I obviously don’t know for sure, but I’m 99% sure she’s making it up. She brings it up Every. Single. Day. And she’s self diagnosed. Every conversation with her is exhausting, because she always has to have the worst trauma or situation going on, I could simply say “my mom got a little upset before I left.” And she would respond with “well at least your mom doesn’t beat the autism out of you.” She says this loud enough for the entire class to hear. We had to state a fact about ourselves while we introducing ourselves to the class on the first day of school, she said “I’m kind of autistic.” I have OCD, but I don’t go around telling everyone about it 24/7. Do I tell people? Yes I do, but it’s not the first thing I say to someone, because it’s not my whole personality.

She might actually have it cause autism could be her special interest, she really needs to go get tested by a professional though. I have autism and adhd, I bring up my special interests a lot and most of the time it’s the only thing I want to talk about. I miss a lot of social cues and tend to tell people things and over share my struggles a lot aswell because I don’t know when is and isn’t the right time. I have a hard time understanding right and wrong things to say to people as well. And the fact she doesn’t know how obnoxious she’s being might be her missing social cues as well. My special interest is autism and I love talking about it and learning more about it. For me my entire life changed once I got diagnosed, I was able to accept the way I am. I kind of acted like her before I had gotten diagnosed, I would talk about autism a lot, and ways I thought I could have it. I even wrote a couple page essay on why I thought I could have it. You should tell her to a professional, it’s the only way to know for sure if she’s doing it for attention. When I first gotten diagnosed I told everybody in my family and all of my friends because I was just so happy that I finally understood why I was so different. She could be seeking advice when she brings it up so next time she does definitely tell her to go find a psychologist and get tested. Not all psychologists charge a lot of money.

They go to dumb extents such as faking disorders to in a way play victim, and receive the care/attention they don’t get/don’t want from their family. Cuz they be just locked up in that room with only themselves to look at. Instead of looking into who they are as a person, they look into what they can appear to be just to be treated as they wish.

You see lots of these people who act cringe and sad and do stupid shit like faking disorders just to go viral and they do, now after a while people start thinking all of gen z is like that because that's all they see. Normal doesn't go viral, because it's not entertaining, being stupid and crazy is. It's like how all newspapers talk about is tragic stuff going on in the world, never about the good stuff, it's almost like propaganda, you only see a small percentage and all of a sudden you subconsciously generalize it all. I do hate how some of the gen z act it gives the whole generation a bad rep, but please don't believe that most of us act like that

imagine being a parent, giving everything for a kid, taking on many jobs to support them. showering love and affection all the time, and then seeing that they think they have a mental illness due to extreme childhood trauma. the feelings a parent would feel in that moment is depressing to think about. (my sister tried this once when this trend was starting [it started with people faking tics from tourettes] fortunately my parents followed her so they could monitor what she was doing, they shut it down real quick when they found out. i still remember the day my dad pretty much stormed up the stairs, phone on tik tok in hand.)

Sometime I do not understand this generation. I fit symptoms of SO many things but I do NOT self diagnose. The closest thing I ever have had to even getting the courage to ask a doctor about this stuff was when my Dad said he thinks I have Asperger’s because of how I act. I’ve never gotten around to asking a doctor, and I may never ask. Because I think that wether you have ADHD, or OCD, or Asperger’s, you should not let it define you and you’re behaviors. “Oh yeah I missed my assignment last night because of my ADHD.” Think of this: you probably have heard of Michael Phelps and how successful he is at swimming. Believe it or not, he has ADHD, but he did NOT let it be his whole personality and let it hold him back. Instead he brushed it off and became the fastest swimmer in the world. I just don’t get why people make it their whole source of problems and personality.

the entire point of mental illnesses and disorders are the debilitating effects they have on an individuals life. nearly EVERYONE can relate to some extent to any symptoms of all mental disorders. it’s the degree to which those symptoms are present in your life and how they affect your daily life blah blah blah blah but no someone sees adhd means struggle to focus boom they must have adhd 🤪 no. ugh it’s just so frustrating. there’s nothing wrong with self diagnosing TO YOURSELF (not to the whole damn internet) and then following up with your doctor or a medical professional to express any concerns you have. mental disorders are not some cute quirk to just “have”, they’re serious problems that so many people struggle with. i’ve had depression since i was like 11 but i didn’t get diagnosed til i was 17. that doesn’t mean i didn’t have depression when i was younger, i just didn’t get the help i needed until years later. at age 19 i talked to my dad about how i think i MIGHT have autism and i wanted to try and have testing done. he insisted that i just had adhd (???) because he had adhd when he was younger. a year of neuropsychological testing later: tada, turns out i have autism (also ptsd & OCD according to my neuropsych but i was just focused on seeing if i had autism). my diagnosis explained.. so much. of why i’ve struggled my entire life to just function, to socialize, my dad just kept telling me it was the depression. it’s exhausting but relieving knowing there was more. i’m 20 now, honestly doing really well. my “disorders” or however you wanna categorize them do not define me. they’re just a part of me. i don’t march around proudly claiming that i’m autistic. i just have autism. IM JUST ME hhhhh just wanted to rant rq. sorry for the novel. i appreciate your comment and agree with what you said

As someone who has been diagnosed by a therapist with adhd, social anxiety and mild depression, I can say for certain that the impact all these disorder faking people is massiVVVve. Though most people believe me, they are usually very questionable at first and I have encountered people saying I don't actually have it n shit, despite me telling them i've been diagnosed and shit and yeah is just so scuffed man Things like this shouldn't be put on a pedestal at all and the fact that it is is just insane. People need to differentiate between be accepting and understanding people with mental health problems + disorders, and putting people on a pedestal for it. It's so insane. Having adhd and especially social anxiety is so fucking bullshit and I can't speak for others who has things like autism and DID and all that, but I can imagine they feel the same way. And to see all these people self diagnosing and faking disorders for clout and to be "unique" just, idk it's so fucked if you self diagnose for things you think you have, go talk to a therapist and find out for certain. Wanting to have a disorder is a red flag. If you want to have severe social anxiety you most likely don't have it. you have no idea what fucking hell it is happy to see so many people here who are on the same side. If you self diagnose; you're the problem

As someone with Asperger's I could never understand when people get their diagnosis and start acting the most disturbing and childish way after doing so far in life as a normal adult. Ok, I understand about trying to being comfortable, but they look like they were made in the same factory and I just think is so degrading (and ofc they'll never shut up about that and about how they feel oppressed by neurotypicals) when I got my diagnosis I promised myself that this wouldn't be a reason to just pass from all the dreams and wishes I had, I want a normal life and not acting like this jester clown media has been pushing to us.

I got my disorders from being hit by a truck and suffering severe nerve damage. The bullying I got after by people who didn’t know why I acted different made me anti social and scared to talk to people. My mom, struggling mentally to transition between having a mentally capable daughter to having one that acts different from before, gets frustrated with me for behaving off. I became severely depressed and ended up with self-destructive tendencies. I don’t see any of this as fun or quirky. It has genuinely messed up my life. It’s been ten years and I’m only just recently starting to get my life back in order. I had to come to terms that I can’t have my dream job (or job in general), deal with years of government paperwork and tests to get on disability, and being worried to tell anyone (even in situations I need to) about what happened or what I suffer with because of the fact they could think I’m trying to brag or get special treatment, or think I’m faking it. I had that happen twice and it was genuinely upsetting. They tried to poke holes in my story to try and prove I’m lying, and then I point out that they didn’t have the facts straight or just made something I said up.

I remember that time when my parents told me that I have Asperger after being diagnosed by a doctor many years ago, they waited until I was old enough so I could process everything that have happened in my life, the reason why I was different from other kids, and the strugle that keept me going. Being a target of bullying was so normal that became a part of my long angry journey, the main reason why I never wanted to change schools because I knew damn well it will be the same...it lasted until college, but I managed to finish and become a dentist. Disorders are not a choice, some are more complicated than others, and sometimes, for some people, it feels like a curse. But when I saw this video, I felt insulted, more than sick, those Lost Gen Z children reminds me of Erick Cartman from South Park when he faked a disorder, then end up having one...not wishing the same, just something FAR worse, can't believe they still keep doing this. ¿WTF are their parents doing? ¡Tik Tok is not a babysitter! You did a good job with this video and the rest, hope you get well. And sorry that my English is not that great, is not my main language.

I was diagnosed with autism and it affects me every single day. I struggled badly in school pre-diagnosed, and I ended up having to drop out to do homeschooling instead (which was a good decision). I struggle to emotionally connect due to it, which can be extremely frustrating. I don’t understand emotions like a neurotypical person, which can make me come off like a jerk. I forget to do basic everyday things like eat and sleep, and my sensory issues really suck. I remember once I was having a hard day, and a woman gently touched my shoulder to get by me and I ended up having a full meltdown.
