Gen. Mattis Says Don't Call Me Mad Dog

James Mattis, former U.S. defense secretary, explains the origination of his call sign "Chaos." Mattis said he doesn't like being called "Mad Dog," a name the press gave him. Mattis appears on the latest episode of "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations." The interview was recorded on Dec. 5, 2019 in Dallas.

My son was under his command in the year 2003 being led into Iraq When The War started and if you listen to one of his speeches he says that the Marines came back from that tour and then had to return once again within 90 days my son went once again under Colonel Mathis and my son has nothing but great things to say about him so as my son spent 13 years in the Marine Corps and did three tours I also must have great respect for this man and if the Marines but know of Corporal Dunham then they will know the colonel Mathis play the great part and Corporal Dunham receiving the Medal of Honor my son also served with Corporal Dunham they were best friends and the Dunham family gave one Marine their blessing that if they wanted to name their son after Corporal Dunham they could do so well my grandson is name Dunham they bless my son with that and now my son is a deputy sheriff some my hat goes off to our military and to our men and women in blue or brown whatever uniform they put on to protect our streets Semper Fi God bless all that are in the military and thank you very much to all the men and women that guard our streets every night and day thank you for your service much love to you and many prayers back the blue

There are four things I LOVE about James Mattis, USMC [ret]: 1] He has reputation for being this wild eyed lunatic like Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. But he sounds like your grandfather sittin' on the porch talking about fishing. But is still ENTIRELY willing and able to eff up your entire way of life if you piss him off. 2] He is a man who knows himself, and he has the courage of his convictions to say 'No' to both the Democrats and the Republicans when those clowns came knocking on his door. 3] The way he can balance pride in his accomplishments and humility about his fame without it seeming to be the least bit uncomfortable. 4] And lastly, he's a fellow Washingtonian... the REAL Washington, not that pit of vipers they built over top of swamp that neither Virginia nor Maryland wanted to keep

Officers called him 'warrior monk' because he never married... totally devoted to his calling. Troops had several nicknames, the most polite of which was CHAOS Another one, and I get this from an ex-Marine who worked in the operations staff of one of the battalions he commanded, was CHAMP.. Colonel Has Another Motherf***ing Problem Most were said with affection, even if it was definitely backhanded affection. When you're a troop under a colonel's command, The Colonel is a distant authority figure.. and a wise troop knows that if The Colonel knows him my name his world is on the edge of being seriously eff'd up. And ask any private... Colonels exist only to make the daily life of enlisted men a misery and this particular Colonel is surely God's punishment for the private's life of sin and debauchery 😁

"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet." "I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years." "The most important six inches on the battlefield is between your ears." "You are part of the world's most feared and trusted force. Engage your brain before you engage your weapon." "There are hunters and there are victims.
