I always played games for the lore and story thank you for a full recap. I loved Mass Effect, Dead Space, Halo and Gears lore especially. Makes you see the game’s differently when you play.

GOW3 days were so much fun

Armored Kantus are my favorite locust species variant. I think I would be cool to have a short story comic about that squad that was with the queen. Like following them after scourge's death trying to prove to the queen that the kantus were still worthy as protectors to the queen.

Fun fact: the Kantus are an ancient species, they were always down there which is why they had a whole civilization down in the hollow. The Locust Drones just found them when they went deeper and took the Kantus into the horde

Ok that Theron guard from RAAMS shadows is my favorite of the locusts. He looks like he'd be on the locusts council or have a much more important role. And the dude has a sawed off shotgun with a bayonet!!!! Just a complete badass. I also feel like with his black armor, bayonet and other Theron specifc weapons he could've been the locusts top assassin going far behind enemy lines and specifically killing COG leaders.

This is the definitive lord video. Love it!

My uncle recently moved away and gave me his Xbox and I've been playing all the years of war games and it's so good. Finally learning the lore of one of my favorite childhood games. Been playing the Gears of War series since I was about 7 or 8 right after Gears of War 2 was released

The thing I never really understood was that a lot of the stuff you find in the hollow in G2 is described as “ancient” which indicates that the locust have been down there for a very very long time. Yet it seems that, at the very oldest, the locust have only been down there for 80 years. And that’s the oldest the horde could be as Myra took her people down there sometime during the pendulum wars. So the odds are their society is younger than 80 years old on E-Day. Then how are there “ancient” scrolls talking of the locust faith or other facts? I mean idk about y’all but I wouldn’t describe 50 years ago as “ancient times”. I swear in heard abz claim that the Kantus class has already been living down there for centuries before Myra brought her horde down into the hollow. But I can’t find annnnywhwre in writing that the Kantus were the original sentient inhabitants of the Hollow. If I missed something obvious I’m sure someone will set me straight.

Yeah exactly so this is why I think Tc messed up on some of the lore. Hence why in my Nexus lore section I spoke about why I think they should tweak the lore a little to make more sense by making the Kantus an ancient species - who lived in the hollow and had the ancient Kantus scrolls. They researched and studied the hollows, riftworms etc. We don’t know the exact origins of the Kantus, I did say in one of my videos that they are an ancient species but that was a misstep by me. It’s just a theory but IMO it should be canon as it allows the lore to make more sense with the origins of the Kantus and Nexus. Sorry for any confusion, thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I agree with ya. I like the irony of the COG engineering their own downfall via the Locust. But it doesn’t fit the timeline if the horde was the only sentient creatures to ever inhabit the Hollow. I really like the idea that the Kantus had been living deep in the inner Hollow and that there was a joining of forces between the horde and the Kantus who had already been living down there for centuries. It also fits the references to ancient tales of boogey men stealing children that are talked about by characters in the books. Your idea about the Kantus might not be “cannon” but I think that it fits the presented story better than having the horde build a massive complex society in less than 60 years. If there was already a race living down there then it would be a better plot point as they would have already had a religion, structures, and culture. The horde doesn’t come up with it on their own. They instead adopt that culture. And it could also lead to some cool locust stories were maybe the older locust are a bit more wary of the Trinity of worms cause they weren’t born into it, while the younger generations believe whole heartedly in the faith as they were born into it. That could lead to some good stories reconciling around the different generations. But yeah all in all I think you are right. The collation got so focused on the “COG plays God and gets everyone killed” part of the lore that they forgot all of the hints given in gears 2 about the locust being ancient inhabitants of the Hollow. Preciate the response man! Keep up the good work!

probably not accurate as im new to the series of games. never really owning an xbox back in the day. i basically only played the first game for like 2hrs. but it could be that ancients could be defined as the ancient purely based on life expectancy. the drones dont seem to live long. and the ideals could be pushed as ancient for propaganda reasons. like if you lived 10 years to fight the cog and you were likely to die in battle around that time. 8 generations could be very well referred to as ancient. just a thought i had, probably not the reasoning. but interesting for myself to think

​​@@KingAbzTV Okay, here's my take on that. -The Kantus are descendents of humans who were exposed to imulsion long ago and through natural selection over the eons evolved into the modern Kantus. Essentially going through the creation of the Locust the long way through natural evolution. -Niles still attempts to use the genes of hollow creatures to improve the Sires but the results were failures until he started using Kantus DNA. Since the Kantus are technically humans themselves are more genetically compatible. -For this process to proceed a number of live Kantus were captured a brought to the Lake Laboratory for study. Here young Myrrah would interact with these Kantus and would accidentally establish a simple form of the Hive mind. This and further interactions would lead to the Kantus seeing Myrrah as a form of Messiah from a prophecy. After the birth of the drones, and fully establishing the Hive mind, Myrrah and the Kantus would pass on the Kantus religion on the fledgling Locust. When the time was right the Newly established Locust horde escaped, taking shelter in the Hollow. - The Kantus in the Hollow before all this were not in the best state. They were far from a untied force by any means, their technology was very primitive, and they were having troubles regarding sterility and inbreeding all in the very dangerous environment that is the Hollow. Basically they were on the brink of extinction, their only solace is their religion of the Trinity of Worms. -With arrival of Myrrah and Locust horde changed everything. The Hive mind under Myrrah's motherly guidance finally brings a sense of unity and stability, the knowledge from the surface allows for the eventual construction of things like Nexus, being built on top of Kantus architecture, and the presence of biologically compatible drones fixes many of previously mentioned biological issues thus leading to a giant population explosion among the Locusts. What do you guys think of my take?

My favorite gears of war memory is a saturday back when i was freshman in highschool, my buddy and i got on XBL and decided to co-op the game on insane mode and not stop till we finished. Solid 10 hours, the good old days

Personally I think Skorge pulled the Church of England card. I think after he became Ketol, he altered the Trinity of Worms to be more flexible, which explains why the savage kantus were so willing to abandon their faith, also because they believe that the Trinity abandoned them.

I find it strange that the Queen was totally grey in gears of war 2, but in 3 she was human as could be. Like as if we didn't notice her change physically entirely.

The deadliest of the locust were the armored kantus, Theron elite, and ravager this movie is a good collection info on the locust, but I am still dying for some Swarm lore, and I am sure that your loyal viewers can’t wait a year for gears of war 6 to be released!

You breathe emulsion but your trying to stay away from it....shows you how bright the kantus are......Drones and Grenadiers might be the smart ones after all

I’ve put some thought into it and I think imulsion was once just fuel, but with the creation of the lightmas bomb (which is basically GOW version of a nuke) it involved radiation and mutated the imulsion and created the lambent.

@KingAbz Can you make a lore video on Niles Samson please? I want to know everything about him from start to end.. there's a lot missing i don't know as iv not read the comics and like most people iv only played the games... it would be a great lore video plus you make great in-depth videos.

I wish the coalition would give us more answers. Like where the kantus came from and if the scientists had the dna from them that gave birth to the locust. But the kantus originating from the hollow would also make sense considering the locust cities, temples, their scripts, and their ability to communicate with hollow creatures

I just realised. . . When we first saw the swarm or the drone imago, he came out of some pod like hole. In gears 4 and 5, you will encounter these sometimes. I just realized they act similar or are like E-Holes like th e locust use.

Amazing video!, would you say that the kantus built those temples underground ?

My personal speculation on the tempest is that Myrrah asked something special from Ukkon, so since Ukkon loves fusing things with immulsion, I think Ukkon fused a Hydra with Immulsion causing it to mutate into a Tempest. And I think that the beam the tempest shoots out is a beam of concentrated immulsion causing everything to be set alight.

I have a dedicated lambent lore video on my channel, that'll explain the lambent in a lot more depth! Also the imulsion never had a hivemind of its own, the lambent were just mutants
