And with vehicles also. Like the different kind of scify asthetic the pendulum wars and first stages of the locust war armors and vehicles had tru the kind of post-apocalyptic kind of looking of both armours and vehicles in gears 3. To then the re design of the new COG wich looks like the unsc from halo. The best visual examples would be: the comic book normal army canvas uniforms from the first stages of the pendulum to the Marcus fenix armor I gears 1 full osmium jacket kind and undersuit to the osmium chest piece from gears 3 but no undersuit just a shrek t shirt. And as for vehicles for example: the comic books Humvees that look like a normal humvee to the Armadillo APC with no visible glass ports but Cameras for projection o information in cameras inside the vehicle. To the smol trucks with train cow catcher in the front from gears 3 would be funny to see a comparasion and also will show how the strategy of the COG and equipment changed radically depending the situation and resources. Very little scify universes pay that much of attention to evolve or devolve the asthetics of things logically storywise.

Gears of War enemy design you really don't appreciate until you have a game with little to no enemy variety, Callisto Protocol in my case with its about 3-4 enemies the whole game. My personal favorites of the locust are the Armored Kantus (So fun to play in beast mode and visually badass) and Ragers (I love that their lore is all about how they may be destructive but they have no sense of self preservation so they get wiped out easily). For Lambents it is easily the Drudge with how dynamic and fun they are to fight and Gunkers with their massive size and tentacles. No game has the amount of quality enemies like this series used to have.

It's a shame the queen didn't want to open negotiations with the humans of SERA to battle the LAMBANT together.

Well Myrrah did try to bargain with Adam Fenix for years, he just couldn't get it done in time. Myrrah needed the cure or a solution of some kind, Fenix couldn't deliver it because both of them knew that the unreasonable and hateful Cog leadership and the bitter resentful UIR were not going to tolerate some mutants trying to get land from them. So instead of bargaining, the Queen and her locusts reverted to hatred and conquest because it was their only reasonable alternative to a world they truly didn't belong in.

One enemy I don’t think gets enough attention is the Kryll They’re unique in that you can’t just gun them down like other enemies; even a Berserker can be killed with a hammer of dawn But against Kryll you’re defenceless unless outright given something like a spotlight turret Plus they make any encounter feel so dark and gothic. That ambient sound of them squawking sends chills down the spine. And they’re one of few creatures that attack the locust too. They don’t pick pick sides, they’re just bloodthirsty animals

Honestly very solid ranking list! In all my years of playing all of the gears of war games, I don't think I've ever noticed or realized (or probably even forgot honestly) that there wasn't a berserker in Gears 2 and I was like "wtf no way, that's right!" Out loud at work on lunch while watching this 😂 and my coworker was like "bro wtf what?" And I relayed on how there wasn't a berserker in Gears 2 and we got into a whole conversation about it 😂

These sorts of tier lists are really interesting, I've recently good hooked on them and Iceberg Videos. It might sound stupid, but some of my favourite bits were some of the clean voices from the Locust. Normally there is so much gunfire that you don't get to appreciate them.

The Locust forces and their weapons and capabilities they can draw upon that they possibly manage and keep up on mass and maintain may impress a Ork and his boyz. The Orks would probably see Locusts as something like themselves. The Grey Orkies who know how to dakka even when restrained to one world.

They need to make gears game where they have ALL the guns and locusts and beast mode 😢😢

Being 6 years old and coming across the berserker at the time was terrifying. I remember being so discouraged to continue on at the point cause I was just dumb and couldn’t figure out how to beat it. You could imagine how stupid I felt when I realized you were just supposed to get it to break down the doors to go outside lmao

Hey great vid! Seeing your vids a while back inspired me to play through the series on the highest difficulty which was a blast. One thing I want to correct that I think was just a miswording was at 7:58 where you said you can only kill them with blast dmg in the mouth. You can blow them up anywhere on the body and can use bullets on their mouth

I think the reason the berserker wasnt seen was because of the amount of drones being sent to Jacinto couldnt afford to look after the berserkers, and the remaining drones, guards, and locust were protecting the queen from the incoming COG and the lambent. Not to mention their brutal nature around the drones that would stur up more harm than good especially with the lambent spreading.

If you could make sure one enemy type comes back in Gears 6, what would it be? I think GOW1 Berserkers could be cool to add to regular encounters if the player is given a flamethrower or something else to deal with them

You know in regards to the Polyps feeling like such a half-baked cannon fodder enemy, I swear I remember reading a Game Informer article back during the lead up to the game coming out that Polyps could originally infest Locust/Lambent Drones and turn them into Dredges, but that magazine is long gone and I haven't been able to find it since but it might explain why it feels like they were meant to be more than they were. Maybe the concept was removed before launch cause they didn't want there to be too many similarities with Halo's Flood Infection forms?

I also remember seeing a screenshot of a Silverback getting ready to stomp on a default Locust Drone in a magazine, but I don't think default Locust Drones are in the campaign, and Silvebacks weren't in Horde until later?

I think the only wrong top was giving the grenadier type an S and the drone an S+. Grenadiers are absolutely brutal and a force to be reckon with. Drones are basic and nothing much.

Do a tier list of Cog and Locust leadership, like the Queen, Chairmen Prescott, and the other generals under each of their command

I’m actually okay with how the boomers are in the older games. Yeah they miss but it gives u a 2nd chance. Plus they can flush u out as well if they are able to get to you (since they are bullet sponges). In 4 and 5 they’re always accurate with their shots. Sometimes it feels like they even move like a heat seeking missile, which makes it hard to dodge their shots. And because of that u literally have to be behind cover or you’re just dead

they're bench pressing 250kg+ easy! They're 6ft7 on average and are basically super soldiers

It would have been cool in gears of war 2 if when you're fighting in the Nexus a berserker appears and you must bait it to breck walls like the tomb of unknown and it ends with you baiting it off the edge into the emulsion below Or a platform and you have to bait it into hitting the pillars holding it up causing the platform to fall into the emulsion and you got to get off the platform before it falls. and last but not least the worm processing room that big grinding drop down hole or there being a big flamethrower room to cook the worm that you can bait the berserker into.

I would like to see a new butcher variant within the Swarm that hunts saran wildlife.

A quick way to dispatch Armored Kantus is Grenade tag them, assuming someone can distract it long enough

I think that out of all the enemies in Gears of War horde, the most deadly enemy is the grenadier elite. They don't seem like it especially when you kill so many but it only takes one grenadier, with one frag that you didn't hear while you were firing on that grinder. Especially considering the AI can frag you from out of line of sight, throwing the frag perfectly over impassable terrain. With no grenade indicators, you're just dead.

I remember watching a gears of war 3 live stream and one of the people in the chat said it’s a furry when he was fighting the armoured kantus…

Who would win: Pendulum War veteran with years of combat experience OR A shirtless dirt man with a lever action shotgun?

love this list but not giving the queen and her bumble bee a place on it kinda ruins it for me.

I am gonna feel bad for the brumak in the end of gears of war 2 (I am currently playing gears of war 2), Mainly because he gets a head bursting out of his HIS GOD FORSAKEN MOUTH!!!!!!! JESUS CHRIS EPIC!!!!!!!!

Why this list has the Lambent Brumak, one of the worst final bosses in gaming, the Shriek, a very lame enemy, and the Seeders who barely are enemies, but not the Swarm that are a thousand times better? I take Snatchers, Juvies/Poppers/Screamers, Elite Hunters and Wardens over these 3 any day.

Lamabet berserker fights are so boring in comparison to regular berserker fights. At least with regular berserker, you can shoot them and it does something, even if it's just a little. With lambert zerker, if you don't have a flame thrower, you're just dodging the same 3 or 4 attacks, holding your dick until it's chest opens. It's not scary, or fun, like the og zerker.
