Can't find your video on fixing the tub seal?????

When the water is filling up in mine its hitting the back of the lip. After a couple minutes it starts dripping then pouring from the top right of the lip dripping down towards the ground wire area. Any ideas?

back again yea i got it to work for awhile with the new seal and tub nut but after about 10 loads it started leaking right through gear case it was worn out a big gap shaft and bearing rusted out caused a short i got a new gear case but im wondering if im missing a washer or seal not a lot of protection for the shaft moving ....like were does the foam seal go and order of washers ???? like i got the gear case the seal is on it already ive got two washers two orings no foam seal yet wonder if i needed that but this one the main seal is underneath the tub ?

i ordered a new trans gear case its a problem getting the bugger out soaked in pbblaster for couple days used a proper sized socket to hammer it out ....you just have to give up sealing a wobbly gear case or leaks will happen again its a 100 dollars rather than 350 for the whole assembly but it might be the advised way to go since its all inclusive xcept the mobo yea im working but sounds like the pump will go next its also a finicky machine make sure you have it out of diagnostic mode for things to happen to get a wash done and like its a patient button pusher to get it out of diagnostic mode

Hi! I’m having this same problem & have the same model. I’ve been putting a plate under until I’m able to fit it. Do you have a video of replacing the tub seal? I tried hunting one down on your page but couldn’t find one.

I have the same unit, 8 yrs old and it was leaking. Repairman said the main bearing is rusted and I was better off getting a new one. I called GE and the part is $125. Service call is $110 non refundable. No way to know what the labor costs until the service call and the GE tech can see the problem. Should I even try to get it repaired or was the first repairman right that it's not worth it to fix? I don't want to pay for repairs only to have it break down elsewhere due to the age of the unit. Then I have to buy a new one anyway.

Aloha, I recently was doing a load and went to the store and when I returned there was a big puddle of water. My washer and dryer combo is fairly new..My apartment recently did a mandatory water pressure test, which shut down the water for a several hours. Do you think this might be the machine or the building maintenance . There was lots of water on the floor and the nothing in the tub but the clothing is wet. Mahalos for your help and great easy guide for people to understand. I will like and sub ..!

Could be they brought the water pressure up to high and it effected the fill valve. How’s it doing now?

Thank you Scott. That helps me a lot. I bought a plastic tray and put it under it for now. We'll start saving for a new one in the spring. Your response saved me alot of time and agrivation. I see mine is the tub bearing and that has cause the transmission to go bad. We have taken it apart from the washer, but no matter how much we try including hitting the transmission shaft. It refusing to come out. We have sprayed wd40 and still nothing. Any ideas on how to get that shaft to unseat? Where is the next tubseal video?

The next step is to order the new tub assembly. They don’t make them to be separated .

Try removing the rugs and unplug for 1 hour. They don’t do well at all with rugs.

What if it's leaking from the top? Like dripping down from the entry point while the device is off?

That means it’s time to replace the inlet fill valves on the back of the washer. They have a small leak which lets water come in even when the machine is unplugged.

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance thank you! The machine is brand new(3 months), why would it die like this? Is there a need to limit the pressure in the hoses that are going in? Is there a difference between the hose location (going from the top or going from bottom)

Ever make a vid on showing how to replace that?

You have to replace the entire tub assembly.

While the part may be cheap , keep in mind the the Gearcase/Transmission has to be removed to replace it . and in most cases that i have encountered , you cant get the basket out due to corrosion on the Gearcase shaft . So now you have to replace the Gearcase because you have to beat the damn thing out . this repair will normally cost around $500+ , I'll do a video of my next one. coming soon.

Yep, Terrible design. Probably the smartest to replace it when the washer starts to leak.

You guys might have a small leaking dripping on the belt that spins it causing it to slip before it catches and starts spinning

It's the bearing and the seal. They are broken . You'll need special tool though for the tub removal . A repairman will charge between 300-400$ because I'm a repair man haha . But yeah good luck !

GE says you can’t get to that seal. You need to replace the entire tub assembly.

I invited satan in my home when I bought this combo.Its one repair after another.Its straight from hell.

Bad engineering. You have to replace the whole tub. Might be time for a new washer.

The factory advises to replace the tub and spin basket as 1 unit.
