    Thank you. We have this exact model GE and spent the last few days trouble shooting. We figured it out. Reset the c p u. But found the real problem, while trying to figure why it wasn't running. that it has a leak, which I think caused the motor to slip the belt. Ran a load only to find it leaking from the very center bottom by the gear thing. So I think we may just buy a whole drum assembly. We were stressing about not having a working washer/dryer. We don't have the money to buy new ones. Thank you for this. knowledge is power.

    No problem! The new tub assembly is only a 1/3 of the price of a whole new stackable laundry center & you're getting a brand new washing machine with a warranty by doing that. I have links to the tub assembly in the description on my stack washing machine videos in the appliance repair playlist. Thanks for watching Justin & subscribe to the channel 👍

    I have the exact same unit in this video. I recently had to replace the door lock switch easy peasy. I did notice that my belt on the washer pulleys has cracks on the ID. Also there's a lot of oil or I guess it would be transmission oil on things down there. Has that transmission leaked its oil??? Oh no!!! Here it is 6 years old...

    Videos like this are a big help! Thanks for posting. I have a friend with one of these that is complaining about a lot of noise during the wash cycle only. The cell phone video sounds horrible; I'll see it in person soon enough. Is this too likely to be a situation where replacing the entire tub assembly is best or might it be just the transmission or some other serviceable bearing? When I see it in a few days I'll look for a water leak, which I think would settle the matter pretty quickly too.

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    @ApartmentMaintenance

    2 жыл бұрын

    Replacing the tub assembly is the best route to go if it's leaking or the transmission/bearing is shot. It's very time consuming to try to replace the tub seal on one of these but if the seal needs replaced then 99% of the time the transmission/bearing will need replaced due to water dripping down into it which is most likely the loud noise that is heard. I've replaced just the tub seal on one before & after a few months it started leaking again. It's not as easy as replacing a tub seal in a standard top load washer otherwise I would just do that. Hope that info helps out. Good luck David & Subscribe to the channel 👍

    Hello how did you remove that rear suspension rods? I’m having a hard time getting to them.

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    @ApartmentMaintenance

    3 жыл бұрын

    Remove the front ones first, tilt the top of the tub forward, and use a hammer (the handle end) and push down on the plastic insert where the suspension rod connects to the tub assembly. Do one side at a time, whichever side your doing make sure your tilting and lifting on the tub assembly to take the weight off that suspension rod. It's definitely easier with 2 people, if someone else is holding the tub for you while u can push the suspension rod out of tub assembly with the hammer and use your other hand to pull at the bottom of the suspension rod. If you don't have a hammer you can use a broom handle or anything that's shaped like that. • @ApartmentMaintenance

    No sorry I don't cuz I've done several times & for the time involved & from the old seal leaking it ruined the transmission shortly after & another one started leaking a few months after as well so I figured it's faster & a better alternative to just replace the tub assembly & I figured there's a reason GE offers it for this stackable laundry center so that's all I do with them when they are leaking. We just got a repair on this unit (entire drum/transmission assembly replaced). Machine is now working fine but during the spin cycle, there is a really loud flapping noise. Sounds like the drum might be hitting off something when it's in high spin mode. Any suggestions for what to check? Thanks!

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    I had a similar problem like that before on a new tub assembly as well. The tub is off balance from the factory & the white plastic snap ring on the top is usually what the inner tub will rub against & the sound is normally the plastic snap ring. If you can pull the front cover off, run the machine with no clothes in it & watch & listen to what side or front or back that your hearing the sound, stop the machine & unsnap the white plastic tub ring in one or two spots at that area only then resume the spin cycle & see if that fixes it. I've had some good luck with doing this once or twice. Thanks for watching Blinddog1212 & Subscribe to the channel 👍

    Sounds like it could be the lid switch, since you have to open then close it. It must be making contact once it opens and closes the switch again. Another thing that goes bad on the direct drive whirlpool washers is the motor coupling. It's just 2 pieces of plastic with a rubber grommet in between, and it connects the motor to the transmission. Those are your 2 most common direct drive whirlpool problems. (Lid Switch & motor coupling). Both are easy repairs. Hope that helps Mohammed 👍👍

    I don't recall ever seeing that on the stackables, but any washer can accumulate it on the inside of the outter tub due to excessive soap, & keeping the lid closed when not in use. It's best to use the proper amount of detergent, keep the lid opened when not in use, & clean the washer once a month. If your doing all of that you shouldn't have any issues. You have to remove the agitator & inner tub to replace a tub seal. It's a pain in the ass, and alot of times they continue to leak. Best to replace tub assembly cuz once the tub leaks, the transmission will go next from the water leaking into it, along with the bearing. They usually get loud when the tub is spinning. Good luck Mike 🤞 Thanks for watching & Subscribe to the channel 👍

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    @ApartmentMaintenance

    I hired vendors that do the painting, cleaning, carpet cleaning, and if the carpet needs replaced, I have carpet installers for that. Now we will do a minor paint touch up on a turnover to save money in the painting budget if it's going to be a quick touch up. We do all the maintenance on the make readies, wax the hardwood floors with a microfiber pad and wax. We have enough work to do with daily things such as getting the office ready to open in the morning (doing the trash, restocking bathrooms, mop the floors, etc..) then the swimming pool, picking up grounds, clean anything around the trash compactor, car wash/pet spa area, then work orders, and any other projects around the property. We have our fair share of AC calls being that were in South Carolina, AC's run hard 10 months out of the year here. Thanks for watching Baylor & Subscribe to the channel 👍👍

    Very interesting, have you tried running it with no clothes in it and see what it does ? If not, I would try that. If it still does it one of the suspension rods could be bad. • @ApartmentMaintenance

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    @ApartmentMaintenance

    @@jennyvieve9108 I would remove the front cover of the washing machine to pin point where the noise is coming from. Use a putty knife to push in the clips that are between the front panel & the lid several inches in on both sides. Best way to find them is to use the edge of the washer lid as a guide & come down in line with the edge of the lid between the front panel & lid then push the putty knife in & pull out on the front panel while keeping tension on the putty knife to release whatever side you started with, them move to the opposite side & do the same. As for the dryer, it's probably the idler pulley making the noise which can be fixed with some lubricant spray but if you haven't taken a stack dryer apart before it can be tricky & alot to try explaining on here. Just always remember to unplug the power or shut the breaker off before opening up any panel. 👍

    You would have to take the panel off that has the start button on it. Open the dryer door and you will see some screws along the bottom where the lint trap is. Remove the screws and the ones on the sides of the control panel, then tilt it down and remove the start button. Your going to need a new one unless you can get it unstuck once you have it out and can access it. Sounds like you have another issue with it not spinning. Could either be the motor, speed sensor or transmission. Your best bet is to call an appliance repair man. Hopefully it's just something with the start switch but doesn't sound like it. • @ApartmentMaintenance

    @ApartmentMaintenance

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes you can most certainly do that. The reason why myself & alot of appliance repair companies will tell you it's best to replace the assembly for the fact that once you had water leaking down into the bearing it's just a matter of time until you need to replace the transmission. The best route to go is buy the tub assembly which comes with everything & it's like buying a new washer. Another thing I've had happen when replacing just the tub seal is the washer starts leaking again after a couple months of use. I don't know if the tub gets warped or what, & I've done it with replacing the tub bearing, & not replacing the tub bearing, I've never had any luck with one lasting longer than a few months. So that's totally up to you, & just know doing a tub seal on a stack is alot of work to rip that assembly apart. Thanks for watching David & Subscribe to the channel 👍

    Sorry about that, it was to hard to film that part with no where to put the camera while needing both hands to install the rear suspension rods on & off the tub. They come off & go on just like the front ones, but I found that using a hammer on the rear ones is a nice trick to remove them easy. Turn the hammer around (with hand on the claw) and use the flat bottom of the hammer to push the round clip down while holding the weight of the tub up with your other hand. It works great! As for reinstalling them, sit the tub in place, & do one side at a time, lift that corner up, and install the rod, & then do the other side. Once the rear ones are installed, then you can put the front ones on. Thanks for watching Working Class Outdoors 👍 Subscribe to the channel if you haven't yet 💪

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    Take the front panel off and run the machine, if you see water leaking down from the center shaft it's the tub seal. Also once you have the front panel removed see if there's rusty water stains at the bottom of the machine, if you see that as well it's the tub seal. After the tub seal leaks for awhile the water will ruin the bearing in the transmission. Then you need to replace the transmission & tub seal, which is one heck of a job. It's best & cost effective to replace the tub assembly as it comes with everything besides the rubber drain hose & agitator that mounts inside the tub. You just remove those 2 parts from the old tub assembly & install them on the new tub assembly. Thanks for watching Daniel & Subscribe to the channel 👍

You should see two gold terminals coming off that little red block and that's where those two wires go. It doesn't matter which wire goes on either terminal. Sorry I forgot about those two wires.

    It's one heck of a job & when I've done 2 of them in the past one leaked after it was put back together (not as bad but had a drip), & the 2nd one lasted about 3 months until it started leaking. So for the price, aggravation, & probably will leak soon after if not right away, it's best to replace the tub assembly. That's why they sell it with everything on it, motor, transmission, complete tub with inner & outter tub. I even had an appliance repair company tell me not to waste my time trying to change the tub seal on one of those. It's not like a regular washer, it will leak! You can search your model # of your stackable & see if yours uses the same tub assembly like the one in my video or if they offer one for yours if it's different. Another thing to keep in mind, since it's been leaking water down through the shaft & into the bearing & transmission chances are they'll go next even if u got the new tub seal installed without it leaking (atleast for now). The tub will get really loud when it spins due to the bearing having the water down in it overtime & it will go as well. Just something to think about. It is but it's alot of work on a stackable & might not even fix the problem. I did one awhile back & after doing all the work it leaked a few months later. It's not as easy as doing a tub seal on a regular washer. Most likely from the tub seal leaking the transmission & shaft bearing is shot from water leaking into it anyways so it's best to replace the tub assembly on the stackable laundry centers. Hello! IM REACHING YOU SINCE IT SEEMS YOU’RE A QUICK RESPONDER 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I live in Brazil and brought a GE stackable laundry unit GTUP270GM3WW. Im having a huge grinding noise about 1min after in SPIN mode. So I ran diagnosis (service function) and it shows “LOOSE BELT”. Open the front panel and ran the test again. So I have noticed that the motor starts to spin the belt before the SHIFTER is fully connected. So that explains the grinding noise, the gears are grinding each other. Please help me out! No one here in Brazil is willing to take action, as the product was imported! Thanks a lot in advance! Kenny

  • @ApartmentMaintenance

    Sounds like you might need to tighten up the belt. You do that by loosening up the 2 bolts that mount the motor to the tub. If you loosen the bolt on the right you should be able to pull the motor back towards you which will tighten the belt and keep pressure on the motor as you tighten the bolt back up. Test it out and see if that took care of your problem. If not, it could be something with the transmission causing the belt to slip of the transmission is locked up. Thanks for watching Kenny & hit the thumbs up on the video & please Subscribe to the channel 👍

    I have been putting off telling my landlord the stacked washer and dryer in our condo unit is not functioning. Sadly, I've been using the laundromat for 2 years. Frankly, I'm afraid to tell him because he wants to charge me for things that are not my responsibility. People say 'Don't let him', but he's passive aggressive and sneaky. I want to move out but know he'll charge me even more once we do and I won't have the protection of the rental tribunal. He'll just report it to the credit bureau. I've seen that happen so many times with condo landlords. There are no specific laws to protect tenants of condo units.

    I would tell him, that's why you rent so your not responsible for repairs. Things break, that's just how it is, I would tell him while your there so you have the rental tribunal to back you up.
