Great in depth review! Would you say it's worth the cost you paid for it?

At retail price, no…There are cheaper sets that will clean your clothes just as good (including the ones in this series). If you can get it for $2K or less, which we did, Absolutely! The capacity took our load count from a typical 10 loads per week to 6. Clothes are super clean, energy cost is way less and they are quiet and clean efficient. Miles better than the last set!

@@rontalley We got the pair at Lowes, Black Friday sale, with delivery, installation, removal of the old machines, and a 5 year extended warranty (I almost NEVER buy extended warranties, but these are expensive to fix and it is fully covered for 5 years, no deductible) for $2300. Did a lot of research, and this was a great price. I went with Lowes because they had everything in stock (machines, stack kit, etc.) and could deliver / install next day.

Thank u! Im just so stress coz our washer bfore is not like this and i can see a water level, but this one i dnt see any water level, its just a wet cloths spinning around

Just purchased my GE 850 set. Your video helped me make the decision between 3 different brands. Great review!! Thank you!!

One thing that was not mentioned here, we bought this because it is one of only two washers that you can reverse the swing of the door on. We needed a right swing and they all swing left. Dryers are easy to switch out, but washers not so much. That said, I love all of the other features, they were a bonus.

I just ran into the same issue. Is there any way that this washing machine could be altered for the door to swing to the right? Because of where my houses are in the back it had to be connected dryer left and washer right we switch the dryer door no problem but the washer door has a sensor on the side not the top so is there a way of being able to alter this without having to buy something else?

I always love the refresh setting on the GE dryers. Sure makes my dress shirts and paints look like they are ironed and smell so fresh.

those are finger jointed pine utility panels you can use as a counter but they are very soft. Lowe's sells them in the same isle as you would find 1x pine

Great video Ron. I have the LG washer and Dryer that gives you a lot of features that I have yet to use in 10 years. I love my washer and dryer, but love some of the newer features you mentioned on your washer and dryer. Love the feature that airs out the washer. I have to leave my door open and still sometimes get the smells. The large soap dispenser is a game changer.

Last 3 sets I just went to the big box stores and got what was on sale. This time, I really put some thought into it. I love LG products and will NEVER buy another Samsung. Hopefully, I will not become a GE repair expert like I am with Samsung. 🤣🤣

What a great review! You showed aspects of the app that no one else has and the honest opinions about the shortcomings are really appreciated. Your laundry room is beautiful by the way, I especially like the railing installed on the high shelf.

Great review. Very simple to understand the way you explained it. the one remote feature I would want is to remote start the vent system. If I was gone for a period of several weeks I think it would aid in keeping the interior fresh

Thanks for the video; it was helped us to decide on this pair. We got them delivered a couple of days ago, and are really smitten with them. I've had great luck with just buying the cheapest top loads available (got many years from a Roper set, then an Amana set), but the most recent pair we purchased (Hotpoint) did a terrible job cleaning. I finally caved on front loaders and modern technology, and have to say that these do such a better job cleaning. We're only a household of two, so the 850's are overkill, but we got them for not much more than the two lower models ($850 each), which I felt was worth the extra features. Now to install a counter above them!

I have been using Whirlpool my entire life and my washer is having the same error code for several months, even though we tried to fix it. So after only 8 yrs, We decided to purchase this new set. My daughter has this GE and she absolutely loves it, so I hope I love them just as much. The dryer door might be an issue as my current one shuts very sturdy, and that dryer vent! No kidding pretty inconvenient. I guess I will need to get used to it as I already ordered them and they are on their way here next week. Got a pretty good deal online at Home Depot for the pair and the pedestals for $2100. Thank you for the very thorough review! I am still exited to get them!

I bought the 4.8 cubic foot GE yesterday and it was suppose to be delivered Friday but then I had buyers remorse. I wanted the Blue Saphire which was bigger and had the reservoir for holding detergent. My wife liked that so I went and bought this one and it actually gets delivered tomorrow a day early. Thanks. Very detailed review. I'm installing the 850s right now. Your review has been very helpful. I suggest you pls communicate with GE about the need to remote start, especially for the benefit of a smart home system and additional time savings for the owner. Good job.. I subscribed.

yeah what i meant to say Ron was that i am just purchasing the washer right now and getting the matching dryer later after i get the washer half or mostly paid off. purchased it today at lowes for about $965 which includes taking away the old and installing the new which isn't bad. can't wait to get it delivered and installed later this upcoming week

Dude I LOVE your tabletop and how you decorated the laundry area. I was showing my wife and I said what’s weird is he has drink dispensers and she laughed at me. It didn’t occur to me it was liquid detergent.

I’m still debating between these units and the LG Washtower. Every time when I think I’ve leaned towards one vs the other I come back and lean towards the other. Thank you for your honest and thorough review.

On the dryer sheets you have to tell it how many you use on a large load and regular load then it will keep track of it.

The last 11 years have had the combination of these and I use the dryers wrinkle free :15 minute cycle with my dress shirts and paints often does a wonderful job. Getting this new washer this week hope it also lasts 11 years. We wash three times a day. How do you connect the washer to the wi fi?

I just got the 650 version and the dryer door sagging a little bothers me too. It was the same in the store for the 550 and the 850 versions. Looks like they made the lint trap open better on mine. it opens from the handle part the way you first tried to open yours and is very easy. Wish the washer didn't weigh so much, probably twice the dryer and hard to move. Love your in depth review and your laundry room makes me want to overhaul mine

Great review , washers and dryers have came along way I remember hanging clothes on the line and wringer washing machine but I must say Ron you might be a little picky about the door closing I want to make sure that I hear the door lock😂 but if it’s in my budget I think it’s time for me to get a new GE washer and dryer mine is not even 10 years old and doesn’t do half the stuff🤣

Hey, And thank you so much for creating this KZread channel because it really has helped me. However I'm having problems when I put a load on the water runs down the front from the dispenser and from under the door down into the storage tray can you tell me the reason why or what I'm not doing that would make this happen? Help

They are great and I do love them. However..... If this washer used 3 gallons more water in each wash it would make it amazing!!! When I add 3 to 4 gallons of water my clothes get cleaned so very well. Wish we had the option to use more water.

We are getting the GE washer and dryer. Luckily my wife gets a fantastic discount through her work. We get 25% off of normal price. We are getting the 850 series for $750 per washer and dryer.

Great review Ron. Can you manually change the time on your machine? I was thinking you could fool the machine it's operating between 7am-10pm. That way, should you need a notification outside those times you'll get one. Just a thought.

No “time” on the set itself. I think they look to the “cloud” to set you time.

Hello, loved the video. I get mine delivered Monday 5/20. What is the color of your walls in that room?? Goes great with that sapphire blue.

I started looking for washers and dryers that have that pretty blue light inside them. That’s all I want.

Ron, this is a good review..you need a commercial and a check from G.E.

When doing a pre wash does it pull detergent from smart dispenser or from other detergent bin

Have you had any issues with mold buildup in the soap dispenser? I've read reviews with this issue and this would be a deal breaker for me

Great video. Have the 850’s as a set now too. Have the same frustration with the dryer door, but the washer is built like a bank vault. Only other nit pick is that the dial is hard to read or see what cycle you're on. Otherwise, I’m happy with the pair.

Congratulations! The washer is HEAVY!! Great set overall, I spoke with a GE Rep and some more “Smart” features may be added later in a firmware update. 👍🏾

Question. how is your washer now? My 650 died after 14 months and is being replaced by this one. Had a lot of issues with clothes coming out soaked. Have you had those issues with this machine?

Ron I loved this review. We just bought these and the only issue you did not cover, which I see has also happened to you, is that sometimes the fabric softener and/or bleach dispenser have water in them. Mine are new so I doubt they are clogged plus, it randomly happens and sometimes one that was full is empty later so I assume this has to do with the cycle settings. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just a thought - Is the washer level? (Front to back) If not, the soap tray might not be able to empty water out the back properly.

I have a question. I used to have a washer that when it finished the clothes were mostly dry. And I got this new set like in the video but my clothes are damp, so the washer is not working or that's how it works?
