    Good Tutorial very clear! I've done this without doing the expansion mod by fitting the parts in the back of the screen. I've also replaced the momentary switch with a touch switch and a transistor. Did both of these to preserve the stock look of my SP

  • @gregoryfakelmann612

    @gregoryfakelmann612

    I’d also like to try this Bluetooth mod but would like to preserve the stock look of the sp. How did you do this? What touch switch and transistor did you use? I’m guessing you connected this to the “con” pin on the Bluetooth board. How did you wire everything?

  • @ChilloutCharles

    @ChilloutCharles

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@gregoryfakelmann612 The con pin listens to a ground signal, but the touch switch sends a power signal. The transistor is used to replace the momentary switch, with the touch sensor's power signal switching the transistor "open" or "closed", controlling the circuit from con to ground. I used a TTP223 Capacitive Touch Switch and a BC868 transistor. There should be numerous tutorials on how to use a transistor as a switch on youtube as well as wiring the touch switch.

    It's really niche but if you have a virtual boy, you could do a video on fixing the ribbon cables. If you ever get into consoles, NESRGB was difficult for me. The first one resulted in garbled video, and I must have shorted something trying to fix it. The second one worked for a few months, then suddenly no video output. Must have done it in even worse trying to fix it. The third attempt is still working good. I must be $500 deep into one RBG modded NES. Anyway, amazing content! I look forward to your videos.

    Maybe I missed it (I skipped through most of the install); are you having any issues with audio latency? I am personally quite sensitive to this. BT 4.1 and those XM3 don't handle aptX LL - so I am imaging there must be some noticeable delay. I grabbed a few 3.5mm modules recently only to find out none of my Bose headphones support aptX at all. Curious what your experience has been and if you have/will be looking into other modules that might support aptX. Love the channel and your videos - motivates me to do more mods; thank you.

    Just a thought but rather than an internal mod of the console itself, could you modify the shell of a GBA wireless adapter? You could theoretically remove the board from the wireless adapter's shell and install a bluetooth transmitter in its place, then wire that transmitter up to a connector for the power socket, drill a hole in the shell for the connector and you'd have a bluetooth transmitter you could just clip into the console and go. You could alternatively design and 3D print a housing for a bluetooth adapter that used the same clip on system as the wireless adapter.

    @@MachoNachoProductions 15ms is pretty good compared to the 100-300ms I get on my phone, for the $4 the module costs I think I'll just order a pair and give it a shot with my dslite first, and if I'm happy with it, in my hyrule edition n3ds. @@MachoNachoProductions Well, I've got some bad news- I received two modules, and long story short- It worked, but there is a ton of noise and buzzing in the background of the audio. I'm not sure where its coming from, but I tried both modules and they both have identical buzzing. This was in my New 3DS XL, taking audio from the pads from the headphone jack. This was also powering the module off the 3.7v battery, which maybe caused it? I'm going to try my switch next when I've got time. Anyways, the latency seemed really low and pairing was really easy, so if there's less noise in the Switch it'll definitely be staying there.

    Hey dude. I really like the idea of the mod! But, I noticed something and I am honestly surprised it hit me this late: On the BT chip, you have RX and TX. If memory serves correctly, the pinout of the accessoire (headphone, charging) port has quite a few more pins. And, it didn't disappoint: pinoutguide.com/Game/gameboy_speakers_pinout.shtml IF you were not going to use the audio pins anymore since you have a BT mod now, you could: - Wire RX and TX to pin 2 and 4 - Use homebrew to talk to the chip. Most modders are likely to have a flashcart - at least, you do. - depending on how the BT chip works, this software could act as a setup piece, allowing the GBA to talk to the BT chip for better pairing. It was hard to read all the pin labels on the BT chip but there might be something more that could be done. Personally, if I had an SP, I'd settle for a BT dongle. This thing is small enough that it and an accessoire port plug together would make just a tiny tongle you could attach to the back for when you actually want to use it. Downside: The Wireless adapter wouldn't fit anymore, but how often do you use that these days anyway ^^. I haven't yet learned how to draw a UI on the GBA and my DevPro install is dead AND I lack the solder skills. But I am pretty positive there is something you could do there. If I remember correctly, Intendo initially wanted to use this secondary port for other accessoires too. Something that also just came to my mind: Does the BT chip have a way to tell, per impulse or something?, that it has a connection? If so, you could indeed do what the guide suggests above and instead of wiring to the test pads, wire to the audio pins instead and actually use the volume slider! One way or another, there are some neat things that could be done =)

    Dude! I love the idea, so the chip itself has serial (uart) for AT config commands. From what I've seen on GitHub it looks like there is implementation for device list management, my only problem I can think of really boils down to how the gba sp handles serial data. Looking through GBDK it appears to wrap all serial comms into a sort of session manager, without direct serial access. But I suspect it would be relatively easy to expose this functionality in GBDK, only real hurtle left is you would have to have a chip sit in between the gba sp and the radio chip due to baud rate constraints . Which is why I opted for push button pairing instead. But yes this would be cool!
