Gauge Cluster Removal on a 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner (also applies to the Toyota Pickup)

Today I do a gauge cluster removal on my 1995 Toyota 4Runner. It’s very simple to do. This process is the same as the one found in the Toyota Pickup as the dashboard design is very similar to the 4Runner

Hey I'm working on a 1993 Pickup Deluxe too... I thought I was the last man on earth with this truck!
looks straight forward, but I have a bad left hand, so will have my friend's shop pull it; need to send for repair. Hard to find locals that will repair a 94 pickup cluster. Thx for vid.
I super need the Luna cluster inserts you have. Those are awesome.

Well my speedo cable problem came back with a vengeance Here's what happened I finally got around to changing the speedo cable with a new OEM Toyota one, my mechanic changed it out and charged me 120 bucks for the job, 110 miles later, while driving to eureka, the truck was having trouble making it up hills, only doing 25 to 30 mph, and then the speedometer started flickering as it was going up, then all of a sudden it just drops to zero, my mechanic tried to tell me the headers got to hot and damaged the cable , he said it locked up But when I looked at it the cable it looked like it didn't melt or get damaged, it just looked it had that snake skin type texture to it I also manually turned the cable and it was moving it didn't feel locked up, I should use a drill instead, I needed up taking apart the cluster, and cleaned the old speedo head grease and applied new grease, the head turns no problem After putting everything back together, it still didn't work, could the gear in the tranny be messed up, or could the speedo cable not have any grease on it and that's why it locked up
What was the resolution for toy rpm not working I have same problem thanks
My speedometer and Odometer isn't working at all right now. Rpm gauge works just fine as well as everything else could it be dirty connectors?

Either that or it may need a new speedo cable or the cable connectors on the speedo itself is bad

What about the odometer, currently have a broken odometer, would I need to disassemble the cluster to fix the problem?

You have to remove the speedometer assembly from the cluster housing which is held down by screws on the back

@@TndPnyRCofficial we are probably gonna find a new cluster, the wiring harnesses have completely fried up and somehow got hot and are frayed up
What type of lights are they for my 1994 4runner?

Are you looking for the small instrument cluster lights where you install it where the fuel, oil, battery, and temp gauge? Or are you talking about the ones that light up the speedo and tachometer?

I swapped it to LEDs. They’re Sylvania 194

It’s possible but you’re gonna have to do some wiring to get the tachometer to work

Personally I don’t know that myself but there are some videos on how to wire up a 4Runner tach cluster into a Toyota pickup
