2nd Gen 4Runner LED Conversion
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here's the LED conversion from front to back on my 1995 Toyota 4Runner. This will be almost identical for all 2nd gen 4Runners. Below are the parts that I bought.

One thing to always blow money on is OEM LBJ's. Old Toyotas need them replaced as often as you can, like every 3/4 oil changes.
For the headlights on my 94 4runner I actually did them a different and maybe easier way. Instead of risking breaking my grill and removing the headlight assembly, I just took out the washer fluid and I believe its an intake piece on the drivers side and then just simply turn the light and pull it back and remove and install the bulb.

Same on my 92
This was amazing - super helpful to see the process for each light. Thank you!
Just a very good video Well spoken Good camera work Easy to understand Very helpful We need more videos like this Thanks for the help
Good tip on the brake light. 👍
Awesome video I’m gonna change my light bulbs out on my 92 4Runner
Cool. Gonna do this with my 92 4runner when i get the money.
I tried this with my 95. Every time I used the T/S's the cruise kicked out. With the LED's in the brake lights, it would not allow the cruise to even turn on. I went back and purchased CANBUS LED's and still had the same problem. I just haven't had the time to install inline resistors for every single bulb. too big a PIA! I had to return to standards in all exterior except the front parking lights and the rear tag/reverse lights. I did install HID lights in the headlight system. I also recommend CREE for any/all your LED needs. in MY experience, they produce the best product with zero problems. I too did the dash light conversion to blue CREE bulbs. I have had, one year later, no problems! At the same time I installed white face gauge backs. HUGE difference in looks and visibility!

Where did you get the white face gauge from?
I really like this hilux surff 1995 model.
Thank you!
Got led headlights...didn't allow dash indicator light to work(highbeams). So they sent me resistors which were massive and didn't work either. So now I occasionally check that I don't have my high beams because it's easy to flip than on without realizing it. In other words, pain in the rear as you have to remove grill and nonsense and all the clips break...I did it 3 or 4 times trying to get those leds to work. Make sure you purchase ones that actually work with 2nd gen 4runner.
Wtf i thought those headlights were old school solid 🤯
if you're just replacing the headlight bulbs: I was able to avoid removing my grill by taking out the washer reservoir and the battery on the passenger side, then just took out the two bolts on the plastic cowl for driver side and shoved my hand down there to get the bulb out then unplug it.

Yeah, part of the reasoning for removing the grille for me was to CAD a steel front bumper for my buddy's fab shop to make and I needed to see all the mounting points
Thank you.
Hey, just wondering, you removed the front side marker lights before taking off the front grill right?
The headlights you linked is that just the adapter or does it come with the headlights too? After a year of using it how has it held up?
Do the headlights come with the required wires ?
How did you get to the bottom clips off the grill I couldn’t get mine off today to get to the lights
A lot of the lights are used for the same purpose?
How are the led headlight bulbs holding up? I am worried that the fans are outside unprotected. When you go wheeling mud and water will splash on these.
I'm getting ready to do this exact same thing on my 1st gen Runner.. I got alot less lights to change tho haha. Did you notice any difference in power draw? Aside from looks and being able to see better, the power draw is what drove me to do this.
@BackyardBuilder513

I never had that 4Runner in any situations where power draw was an issue so I didn't notice any difference. However, I can say there will be a difference mostly in headlights and tail lights, especially if you want to use those to set up camp or something with the engine off.
Your headlight are 6400 lumens, what do you think of those advertised much higher up to 10,000 that are not that much more costly? Why did you chose this brand? For price or quality. I see other brands with higher ratings but similar cost. Thanks.
any details on those lights u installed my man?
Just converted all the lights in my 94 4runner to LED and love the improvement. One drawback I found is that now my blinkers huperflash. Did you have this problem afterwards? If so, what resistor did you use to fix it?

Жыл бұрын
For anyone else having the same issue, here's the fix : -Take apart the drivers side dashboard and turn on your signal light. - Follow the "clicking sound" of the turn signal until you find its source : the flasher relay. (Mine was located on the back side of the steering column). - Replace flasher relay with one that is LED compatible. The part number for the stock relay is 81980-12070. It's a relatively simple fix and I was able to do it in NAPA's parking lot in about 5 minutes.
Can you like give a link to those light bulbs? Online says they're not compatible
Hey where did you get the LED lights at?
Where can i find the door panel light cover to clear
trunk roof light did not work i noticed that u had a different one in the video
Do you have lights on the dashboard?
Did you adjust the beam pattern at all? on my 94 4runner Mine don't shine out that way. I have the bulbs facing at 3 and 9 o'clock. They don't spread the way yours do
@BackyardBuilder513

Be sure they are seated correctly then you will have to adjust them
Can you do all these stock or will it cause hyper flash requiring a relay?
@frankfontaine9974

I just did it to my 94 4runner and it hyperflashes. Now I need to find a relay
Bro. Clutch. AF.
Just curious, after doing the headlights did your high beam indicator stop working? Just put the same bulbs in my daughter's twin to your rig and now there's no high beam indicator.

Swapped out my signals with the LED bulbs listed and now my turn signals won’t work and gives off a buzzing sound whenever I try to signal. Hazards work but have hyper flash. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thank you.
@nunyabitnes5970

Install 4ohm resistors in line with signal wire and it will flash normally. Reason is ledbulbs have a much lower draw than fiament bulbs
Do you have a problem with hyper flashing using led turn signals?
@BackyardBuilder513
4 жыл бұрын
Yes. If I didn't mention it in the video, you either need an LED flasher relay or add resistors to all 4 turn signals

Could you just removed the battery behind the headlight for access? Those clips are brittle, looks like a lot of work to change the bulbs.
@aleishasmith7701

You don’t have to take the grille off unless you want to replace the whole housing. The bulbs are accessible if you remove the battery & a piece of plastic behind the driver side headlight.
So hold up... which ones did he use for the brake lights???

He said he didn’t want to change the brake lights because of some dual lighting issue or something?? I’m looking to replace my brake lights to LEDs too but I have no idea how.
Amazon doesn’t have the reverse and license plate lights anymore. Do you the name of them so I can look them up?

I waited this whole video to watch the grill get taken off

I bought it from Ebay
Would not recommend the use of LEDs for the instrument cluster, as I bought good quality leds for those but they still started to flicker after a week or so
I came here because I bought a set of 9004 LEDs that I thought didn't fit, and couldn't return because I opened the package. I got pissy at the store clerk because they wouldn't refund me. Now I feel like an asshole because I didn't know you could take them apart to fit that plastic clip on. Problem solved.
