Hey Chris, thanks so much for sharing this adventure! Looks like fun and a great setup and good techniques. I have a new rod for this but struggled trying to use a trap that was too heavy to cast past the surf. I will try out the snare you are using here and have seen good results with squid on other videos. Nice work taking your son out for some fresh air and activity, hope he's better soon.

That’s a really cute little guy. Where is this place with such calm waves. Maybe it’s a good spot to introduce my son and nephews to crabbing.

@@jtf267 Its out on point reyes. Its generally rough and windy. Not best spot unless you go when wind and swells are low like they were on this day. Its not protected so if ocean is rough there are big waves there. Good luck!
Squid is cool, but I usually use Powerbait.... Just kidding. Looks like a nice day on the beach for you and Ben and a couple of jumbos. Nice work. That heat and power source look like they would be great on the boat to warm the cabin or wheel house. I'd like to use that on my boat for over night trips, or super colds days.

Do you think the crab snare special is worth it over a cheaper rod, like the Daiwa Beefstick? The Beefstick is about 2/3 the cost.
