I’m glad you had posted this event when you did that crab pot video a few weeks ago. That’s me parked behind your boat. I was able to get my sticker for my kayak. It was a good exercise to make sure I had all my shit together. Better to know on dry land rather than finding out in an emergency that you’re missing something. Great video Chris

Chris, thank you for suggesting this event in a previous video. I was able to get my Duckworth boat (in the background) inspected, fit for a tower, and even picked up some gear from the shop. I feel safer heading out on the water, knowing the Coast Guard has done the inspection. Thanks again!

Only difference in an on the water inspection and these voluntary inspections is the voluntary inspections are performed by Coast Guard “Auxiliary” members. Also your drivers license was not collected like it would have been by an active duty boarding team on the water. Having the inspection receipt is a good thing. Semper Paratus! 1981-1986 🫡

There's two feet of ice on the lakes where I live and the closest coast is 1500 miles away so I definitely can't wait until spring unfortunately it's not til late April until I get the boat in the water. Great video Chris Safety first I'm so jealous Cali life looks so fun.

I hear they can give you tickets, game warden even asked me for mine when I got done hunting but said he wasnt too worried but coast guard and everyone else can easily ticket you

I passed without the card. They provided a pamphlet with information on how to get the card. The coastguard was very easy to work with and suggested I get the card to prevent future issues. They understood the card is still something new to everyone and focused on the boat inspection itself.

Like anything else regarding your rights . Do they should have a search warrant? Do they must have a valid reason for detaining a boat ? If not detained, shouldn’t give concent to search and answer questions ,13 amendment do not incriminate yourself, 5th amendment do not declare and much more if they make a habit doing it for so long doesn’t mean it’s legal to do so just like the temecula border patrol check point right at the freeway we got tire of giving up our rights for traveling telling were we going ,were we coming , pull over for car search , show documents wile miles away from the border and etc after so many complaints and finding legal help the false border check point is gone. It’s for your own good and others they say well they said the same thing with the recent vvaacciinneess….

So if I just keep all that stuff in a bag can I pull it out and then tell them to get lost without boarding my boat?
