In the 80’s Gary went through a hard rock phase and wrote some absolute bangers. Victims of the Future, Shapes of Things, Murder in the Skies...all worth checking out. But his all time masterpiece has the be Parisienne Walkways, the slow, bluesy song that he and Phil Lynot played together. Pure magic! One performance that will always stick with me was in Belfast Ulster hall Dec 18 1984 when Phil Lynott came on stage to play Parisienne walkways with Gary!! What is significant about this Phil died 16 days later on Jan 4 1985!! I am glad this concert was recorded for posterity and I know where I was watching this, two from the front 😎. Gary Moore one of the finest guitarists to grace this planet!!

Gary Moore was a monster player. I saw him twice.I wanted to go home and burn my guitars. I've been a blues man for years. When my daughter was young she always told me I made the guitar cry. You two gotta check out Gary Moore playing Red House live. He's playing a beat up 67 Stratocaster with the amp on 11. The guy could control the overblown Marshall better than anyone. Well SRV could too.

Oooooh that guitar tone...so sick. I believe that guitar is the infamous greeny, which was once owned by Peter Green from the original Fleetwood mac. It was the guitar that many big hits were written on. Including Black magic woman that was covered by Santana. The guitar was given to Gary by Peter but when Gary died The guitar was sold at an auction and bought by Kirk Hammet from Metallica for about $1.2 million. It has a pickup switch on it that apparently makes it sound like a strat played through a 100watt Marshall. It has an incredible amount of sustain and pure tone.

Around this time period, Gary was doing hard rock albums. 1987's *Wild Frontier* had the gorgeous *"The Loner"* blues influence instrumental tune where the guitar was the singer. Then on his 1989 album (only on the CD release version) *After the War.* He covered the Roy Buchanan instrumental tune *"The Messiah Will Come Again".* A fabulous take that again is heavy in the blues and made that guitar sing again. This was also a time where Gary lost his former band mate & best friend *Philip Lynott (founder, bass, writer, singer) of Thin Lizzy.* Lynott died in 1986 at the age of 36. That hit Gary pretty hard. Gary also didn't like staying in the same genre too long. With the previous songs *Loner & Messiah.* It was not a shock that Gary Moore went into hard core blues. The shock was 1980's Gary Moore's album *Still Got the Blues* was a terrific blues rock influence album. Gary died in 2011. Now he's in rock n roll heaven playing his guitar with his best friend by his side playing like the old days.

I walked in to a pub back here in England, me and some mates actually - we stood at the bar, ordering some drinks and this crazy amazing guitar was playing behind us. I turned to the barman and said who is that and he said, that's Gary Moore! I confess, I barely knew who he was, but my mate's face was a picture, his mouth was wide open, he knew who Gary Moore was! This was a small venue, always makes for the best atmosphere and boy was that an amazing night!

I'm really glad Peter Greene gave this guitar away. Talk about the right instrument in the right artist's hands...wow.

None but Gary Moore could make the guitar sound so sad. Here in Sweden this song stayed at #1 for 16 straight weeks at the single charts!! Now check out The Prophet!!
