I saw Gary Allan here in London in a small pub on Tottenham Court Road just off Oxford Street on 11th September 2001. It was just him and his guitarist Jake Kelly on a tiny stage. Gary Allan had performed in Switzerland on Sept. 10, 2001, and flew to London, England, on Sept. 11. He tells The Boot that he was doing an interview on the BBC when he first learned what was going on, and got stuck in London for two weeks waiting to be allowed to fly home. "I thought it was very interesting to be in another country when something went so wrong with our country because I didn't realize the American slant we get to our news," Allan remembers. "We don't ever hear all the stuff we did to cause things; we're just like, 'Oh my gosh, we got bombed!' But hearing another country talk about all the things that Carter did and Reagan did and some things to bring this thing full-circle was very interesting, but it was also very scary to not be home when things were going wrong."

Love Gary Allan. You've probably heard it but Songs About Rain is my favorite by him, but Tough Little Boys is great too. Might wanna give them a listen. I don't know how I forgot this on your In Color video, but check out Leave You Alone by Jamey Johnson.

I'm glad I could make your day a little better, Hillary, and I sure hope they figure out how to help you get rid of those migraines. I used to get them so I know what they do to a person, and it is frightening how much they hurt. People who've never gotten one don't really understand how hard they clamp down on your brain and just keep hammering away. Keep us updated, please. :-)

I'm sure someone already commented that regarding the bullrider comment that the official video indeed has a professional bullrider in it, but coincidentally, part of the video was filmed at the Colorado State Fairgrounds, 2 blocks from my house. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when they filmed that.

Not enough reaction or reviews of Gary Allan on KZread. I'm proud to have gotten ModernRenaissanceMan to do one of "Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain", glad to see this one as well. The music video for this actually shows a bullrider, so very fitting you came to that conclusion. Another thing, this kinda goes along with his albums dealing with loss and grief, since his wife committed suicide due to extreme migraines and depression. I think he did about 2 or maybe 3 albums that related to it before he moved on in life as well as his songs. He seems to live his music more than anyone else has, and likes being that guy who has been around forever, but people are just realizing he's always been in the room, since he's been in the music industry and on radio since the 90's, and had a recording contract since he was very young, but not allowed till he was older. You gotta do more Gary Allan, or at least check him out. He's easily the most under-rated artist in country music.

  • @SilverbladeDagger

He lives his songs for the most part, and some of the songs you can really feel the vibe of how deep it means to him. "No Regrets" is the biggest one, since it deals directly with her suicide. His latest albums are more upbeat and about getting over it and moving on. But his best songs were the ones where he tears out his soul, like "Putting My Misery On Display", "Best I Ever Had" and moving into "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" and "Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain". Another thing to note: He doesn't play the Nashville game of making songs to be hits just for the sake of being hits or manufactured. He's pissed off studio execs because he does things his way. That's kinda kept him from being a big name, but hasn't stopped him. He's an interesting dude to learn about.

I'm so glad to hear that you love women Gary Allan! He is a challenger in life. He lives life as if there's no tomorrow. He goes that extra mile without any fear of have to deal with any pain. It's pure and raw. Not afraid of going after what life holds in store for him. Maybe pain maybe not. But keep it coming. I love every single tone of his voice. It as he lives every single thing he sings about.
