Garrett Ace 250 settings for park digs, pinpointing tips Part 1

Спорт

Went to a local park I go to on Saturday morning to do a video on how I set up my Ace 250 to detect coins and jewelry and hopefully eliminate any junk signals. My camera ran out of memory so I had to swap to my iPhone mid dig. This will be part 1 of 2. Please if you have any tips and tricks for your park setup and pinpointing tips and post them in the contents. Happy hunting!

Good teaching video, I am also glad to see someone else pulling regular coins and trash, like I do. Most of these videos show people showing all these old coins or great relics and I think that is the rare stuff not the norm for most of us. So, nice to see a realistic hunt for once.

Thanks for the tips. I've had my 250 for a couple weeks & this has really helped explain some of the different "sounds" you get when detecting. Can't wait to apply my new knowledge in the field.

This is by far the best ... why and how to ... for the ACE 250 and also just tips for other detectors also. Thank you for taking the time doing something worthwhile. This is a great learning vid for me... and today I found a similar nice video for my Fisher F75LE :) So on youtube it was a great days hunting.

Great video buddy, I've got the same model and I've only been doing it for a week and I've learned a lot of your video, I wake up every morning thinking that the day is the day and it's wake up in the morning again and repeating the same old mantra, but what I have learned in life is patience and every dog has its day, I'm just in the house with a new pack of AA and here's to tomorrow morning again. Happy hunting & good luck to all the Garrett crew.

I 've been using the ace 250 for about five years. I've learned that a signal showing penny or dime, will mostly give me a penny. When I get signals showing a dime or guarter, will mostly give me a dime. Solid signals are almost always what it shows it to be. Some exceptions to these statements are when there are multiple coins of different value. So a dime/guarter signal may produce either and the signal is still there, giving me another coin. I've actually had a spot yield 1. 5. 10. 25 coins and several of a couple of them. Yes it is most enjoyable to spend a day in the field searching. Field, " meaning, ball park, play park, school grounds, fair grounds, beaches and adjoining picknic areas. I've not gotten to many old home areas. Hope you continue to enjoy also! Detector Bob

Thanks for the tips!!! I have only had my detector for a short time and was digging nothing up but cans and foil. I was starting to think it was faulty. After I watched your video, I could see what I was doing wrong. Later this evening, I went back to the same park I had been earlier in the day and found my first coin. An Indian head penny!! Even though it's not in the best shape, I was thrilled!! I went on to find a small amount of clad. Thank you so much for your tips. I no longer think my Ace 250 is faulty, it was me!!!

Great advice about the signal dropping fast passing over it being a coin. That is usually what I'm trying to find. My first nice find I found was a 106 year old wheat penny!! man I was down right happy... it was in my front yard. :) Pretty nice condition as well. It's my first year detecting. I have the Ace 350 and put in just over 40 hours on it and I am new to detecting and now I am looking all over the place to find good places to hunt. Last week I found a 14k gold nugget that weighed 9.6 grams and it is worth 290.00 bucks usd and it paid for my detector. Ill try to make a vid of it today. Great video.

great vid i watched another vid that was helpfull if you use the pinpointer to find where you get your strongest signal set the detector to all metal then park the detector over the target and if its a coin it will keep signaling coin if its iron it will keep signaling iron and so on it dosnt always work but when it does its helpfull just another way to identify your target.

I've been detecting since 2000, have/had everything from the Whites Classic 2 to the DFX300, Minelabs to Tesoro, run Czech Detecting Tours, magazine articles, I know my stuff. So, my father bought one of these some years back, forgot about it, guess who found it today in the pool house? I gotta say, this thing is about as good as it gets for solid old school detecting. Check out my Mike Hunt videos, Micheal And Eddie, he uses one when he's in the Czech Republic and I never gave it much thought, I will now. Great machine.

I really dislike foil with a passion. Ahh. Was detecting in a park today too with my ace 250 on the jewelry setting. Well, come find out there were tons of pull tabs everywhere. This place looked like the scene of a party or two. Some of them may have been alcoholics lol. Just kidding. But anything foil or pop can like that I dig up burns my soul.

Hi!! Interested entertain on the beach, but do not rule out seeking gold nuggets. I have read somewhere that using a coil 4.5" in a Garrett 250 or an Euroace (ACE 350) and adjusting the maximum sensitivity could not detect superficial or not deep native gold. Believe that this can be?

What is your sensitivity set on? I usually go two or three below max. Also make sure you have the cable wound up correctly on the shaft like the book says. I usually also put a piece of electrical tape on it as well because if its loose it'll cause false signals as well.

Stock coil is Perfect on this detector, it's Perfect for sniping threw trash. If you switch to a larger coil, you better be scanning Open fields....because you're Not going to have nearly the capacity to sweep threw garbage.....you're gonna miss a lot of signals in crowded areas.....larger coils are Only good for covering Large amounts of ground, usually for meteor hunting or gold.

What country is this machine originally designed for? I'm in Canada and when I sweep any coin its erratic, I the machine won't determine what it is...its bouncing all over the place! Yours aint doing that! Does it sound like i have a faulty coil? Its new out of the box..also when I sweep any one item, its giving me all 3 ring tones on the same item at the same time. Plus when a strike a coin against the bottom of the coil, its showing a depth of 6-8 ". And to top it all off, when pinpointing, its way off to the side instead of being in the middle of the search coil where it should be! Should I through this $225 piece of junk out?

Do you know if there is a device that can be used with the metal detector that that could audibly say the depth or the strength of the signal. That could possibly be plugged into the phone jack? if I accidentally touch the ground or weeds my detector beeps. it's a Garret detector. I guess my arm is just not strong and it keeps dipping down if I don't concentrate. Found some quarters in a tot lot but anywhere there is weeds or grass I get a lot of beeping that doesnt pan out. too much sensitivity? it is frustrating. At the beach the detector kept signaling nickels every where but nothing was there. I might have brushed the sand some.

A couple of things you can try. Put new batteries in and good quality ones. Hold your power button down until you here the “reset” chime. And yes adjust your sensitivity. But sometimes the ground in certain areas is more “metallic” than others and the 250 doesn’t have the ability to ground balance like some other Garrett models.

check the coil wire wrapped around the pole of your detector, they are Notorious for setting off False signals.....The bottom area of the wire is usually Loose, and bumps against the Pole, and it sets it off.....just tape it down.
