    Just starting with the 400i after 10 years out of the detecting world. Liking the machine a lot, but still figuring out how to best interpret what it's telling me. This vid has been very informative, thanks and keep on posting!

    That's the kind of feedback I love, it's great to help a fellow detectorist. Don't let the iron audio put you off too easily, often good targets will have a little crackle to them. All metal is a great way to run it so you get a map of the ground, finding the iron often means finding old habitation. Good little machines.

    Nice video mate. I purchased the 400i when it came out, I have to say it's a brilliant machine for the price.. found 8 hammered coins with mine on a local field near me which has been detected a few times within the last couple years, seems to do a lot better on ploughed fields in my opinion :)

    I noticed when you were explaining what settings you prefer you had your sensitivity on maximum. Would you usually have it on that or a notch or two down? I’m never quite sure with mine and have read people saying to turn it down a bit even if you aren’t near any power lines. Cheers. Enjoy yours vids.

    Hi There, usually I have it a notch off max but sometimes it runs fine on full. Having it a notch off max is not a bad idea, even two. It will still perform perfectly well buddy. All the best MMMD.

    Maxing out the sensitivity actually unstabilises the receive loop making signals more erratic and bouncy. There's a crossover point where it starts to have a negative effect because the transmit loop in the coil destabilises the receive loop. Was more prodominant on the Ace 250 and Euroace but maxed out is still too much and you compromise your accuracy of the display. Tow it back a notch on quiet ground and two back on busy ground for a 400i. An extra block back if an Ace 250/Euroace.

    I've just read what you said. When I have it on full sensitivity my detector some times goes mad is this cos it's on max sensitivity. As I'm learning g the 400i I thought maximum sensitivity means deeper is this true or not. But I lower my sesitivity by two blocks from top and it seems smoother.

    Great video! I've been detecting with the 400i for the past 4 months or so and this video exactly sums up my experience with the machine. I started out by using Relic mode with a notch or three taken out and Iron Audio on, 9/10 sensitivity, which has been perfect for worked fields. I'm just starting to head out on old pasture with it now, not sure which will be the deepest setting, any ideas?

    Should I get this metal detector or the AT Pro which is a bit more expensive ...

  • @MudMaxMetalDetecting

    @MudMaxMetalDetecting

    6 жыл бұрын

    Wow that's a tricky question, as I haven't used the AT's. I spoke to a dealer who said he was surprised at the amount of tech that Garrett had put in the 400i and suggested the machines were pretty close. If your in parks for shallower coins I would say the 400i will serve you well. I recommend you watch the Hoover Boys when Kurt reviews the 400i, as he usually uses a Pro. He spoke highly of the 400i. But in the end if your considering the AT series then I would say be patient, save the extra and go for the Max, why opt for the old AT when there is a better one?
