    I used to run cross country and track in college and used the Garmin 235, I loved it. I stopped running for a couple years and am trying to get back into it and am trying to find a replacement because I gave the Garmin to a friend and have been using an Apple Watch. Your review was great and I think this is the watch for me!

    Woo! Looks like garmin have finally made a watch that gets close to what I need, i.e. much cheaper, IM battery life, and less features that no-one ever uses. Still far more exy than it should be, for piles of features most of us don't want to pay for, but a move in the right direction never the less. Yes, I'd love a video on more detail on the 255 please! Love the vid as always; really helpful - thanks a bunch!

    Yeah, it might be a while but, I'd love to make a 255 review after 100 days or something like that. So far, I'm really really impressed with this device. I have a video comparing it to the 955 and it is missing a lot of features, but as you said, we might need tons of features that people don't use and this watch does the basics really well. Thanks Jez!

One thing to mention : this watch can easily be worn on an everyday basis, even with a suit, at work ! Hugely informative. Would be great to see a side by side comparison beside its predecessor the 245 as many will have that already and are considering the 255. I guess the regular watch is the natural choice and the S is suited for those with smaller, wrists?

  • @mlegrand

    @mlegrand

    2 жыл бұрын

    Exactly. The S is a good option for smaller wrists but my wife and I have very small wrists and think the bigger one looks fine. And I prefer the bigger screen and that little extra boost in battery life of the large version. I actually don't have the 245 to compare it to so I probably won't be making that comparison unfortunately but thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Some people might prefer the looks of the Fenix. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also keep in mind that the 255 only has 4 gigs of storage which isn’t huge if you’re think about getting the music version. I don’t have a magic ball, but I foresee the FR255 being a HUGE problem for Garmin’s competitors. This price point could put smaller companies out of business. This means companies like Suunto and Polar will have to make devices that are cheaper or considerably better than Garmin’s mid tier watch. I could be wrong, but I don’t see either of those things happening.

    Hi Matt, I’ve been using the 255 for a few days now (slate grey) and I’m absolutely loving it and all the extra features and programmes that the Apple Watch can’t compete with.. also battery is a game changer. Only thing I’ve noticed the screen isn’t as vibrant as I was expecting and seen in reviews. Maybe I’ve been spoilt with the Apple Watch high res. However it’s probably a lower res and contrast to reduce using too much on the battery maybe!?!? It’s only a small thing.. thanks again 👍👍

Be interested in seeing a video on your thoughts and comparison on Coros pace 2 vs Garmin 255. Sounds like Coros pace 3 might be this fall, have you heard anything? From Seen past KZread reviews coros is behind on Garmin on app features/layout few other things, while a lot people may not are about that and just want a multi sport watch, with great battery life and simplicity. Coros ahead of Garmin on battery life and slightly lighter. Sounds like coros is working hard to catch up on all little features but keeping with better battery life….. Good question. My understanding is that 7 day training load is effected by any activity type because the watch is looking at your heart rate while exercising to estimate your excess post-exercise oxygen consumption and a value to gauge training stress. (I will say wrist HR is crap when swimming because of the way these optical HR monitors work 🤷‍♂️) I've tested a lot of different brands for swimming and Garmin is still my current favorite because most other brands don't have a simple drill mode for kick sets or drills.
