    Great video. I had a Garmin 3 and in the end I hardly wore it as it was so big... especially at work, it just looked too big for my fairly thin wrists. I hadn't considered the 6s because I thought it was the woman's version, however, when I saw the 6S Pro Solar, I immediately knew it was the watch for me. Had it 3 months now and love it. I'm so pleased I bought the S version. It just looks like a normal watch, doesn't get stuck on my clothes, doesn't feel as heavy or sweaty in the hot weather, etc. Edit btw, I find my 6s loses about 8 percent battery a day so will last about 12 days and of course the solar should top that up in the summer, so for me that's more than enough. I also do about 8-10 hours of GPS activity during a week but even with that I only have to charge it once a week.

    Dave, thank you for this extremely helpful video! I initially didn't want to buy a watch intended for women, but on the other hand I didn't want a large watch since I have a small wrist. Your video put me at ease and I bought the sapphire version of the 6s. And I'm really glad I did, the weight difference between my former fenix 3, where I felt like a half of my weight was on my wrist, and these is truly noticeable. The points about sleep and form factor being an issue while wearing long sleeves basically made my decision. So again, thank you and keep up the good work!

    Thank you. I've been trying to decide what to upgrade to, from a Fenix 3 HR. Your points about the size of a larger watch mirror my experience - the number of times I've scratched my car whilst washing it, or damaged something whilst painting! Put your clothes on first, then the watch, it catches on everything. I kept thinking the 6s had all the features, but seems to be a woman's watch. Great to see it's working for you and to see a man wearing it. Garmin 6s here I come! Thank you again for taking the time to create and share the video.

    This review is great. Its exactly what i have been looking for, thanks! I've had my Fenix 5 for about 4 years now. I wear it every day and only sleep with it on when i'm camping. The watch is huge and heavy for my smaller wrists and it's starting to get frustrating, especially when i'm out on a run. Like you and many others i assumed the 6s was more of a woman's watch - especially based on the color schemes for the solar version. This review has helped convince me to give the 6s pro a shot when i'm upgrade. Thanks again for a spot on review!

    Nice video and review! As a guy with smaller wrists, I wear the Fenix 6S too. My only dislikes was the strap was too short so I bought the longer one and the shorter battery life vs the 945 it replaced. Both watches pinch the hair on my arms so I do have to trim them. Before those watches, I had a Vivoactive 3 so no buttons to pinch your hair. I went with the Fenix 6S mainly for the Sapphire Crystal face. I primarily mountain bike and scratched the heck out of the 945 and Vivoactive.

    Great Video with a lot of interesting points. I'm still very attached to my fenix 5 plus titanium. The dimension is really nice and it gets maps, music and with Stryd even power meters reading. I have just a complaint about Garmin so far. They did not develop the interval run training in a way you can play with 2 different distances. Sometimes on a build up 10 k training you need to do reps where you make 3 x 2 miles + 1 mile + 1mile and this is not feasible at the moment. Second point is the recovery time. In my experience if you train before the recovery time is completed Garmin does not take it in to account to calculate the next recovery time.

  • @ChaseTheSummit

    @ChaseTheSummit

    3 жыл бұрын

    I've noticed that with recovery as well. Like if you have "2 days" of recovery but train anyways it doesn't increase that 2 days but rather makes a new recovery time. It would be nice to see them polish that a bit better.

    Great video! I recently upgraded from the 5S Plus to the 6 Pro Solar even though I've got a small wrist and the 5S is the perfect form factor. That one reason was simply battery life. Maybe the 6S has an exponentially better battery life than the 5S Plus but I got a maximum of 7h45m of GPS time with my 5S. While most people would say "nearly 8 hours is plenty of GPS time!" that's not really true. An all day mountain bike ride is going to push the limit of the battery and I do a few 50ish mile races every year that push it as well. But it's not just GPS time. It's also how much battery life the watch has AFTER a GPS event. Sure, I could squeak by in a 7 hour ride but now my watch is under 10% and I'm gonna be wearing a dead watch soon. That's a deal breaker for me. I also found myself intentionally NOT using some of the features for fear of running down the battery in the middle of an activity. I finished a 50 miler that took 7 hours on Saturday. My watch was fully charged on Friday. Today, without having charged it, it's showing 8 days of power remaining. That's worth the slightly larger form factor.

  • @ChaseTheSummit

    @ChaseTheSummit

    3 жыл бұрын

    The 5 Plus series had notoriously bad battery life even with the larger versions. Thankfully the 6 series got much better. The 6s is capable of 25 Hours while the 6 Pro can do 35 hours in GPS mode. For me, that's enough for 99% of my activities other than 100 mile races. For those, I might reach for another watch or just charge along the way. Thanks for watching!

    They're so similar. It comes down to form factor and build quality at that point. Do you care about the size/weight of the watch on your wrist? The 945 is super light but it's a little bigger where as the 6s is a bit heavier but overall smaller. I really don't mind either one on my wrist. The Gorilla Glass screen of the 945 is prone to scratches so I would suggest a protector where as the 6s sapphire is nearly scratchproof. It's really up to your preferences both are great! Hope that helps!

    Dude, couldn't agree more. I recently sold my Fenix 6 and bought the new Fenix 6s solar, and love the size. It makes a huge difference. But you're right - it's sold as a woman's watch. The strap barely fits! No big deal - ordered a new strap to replace it. But the watch itself is perfect.

Looking to ditch my cycling computer for a watch. Stuck between the 6s and the Enduro. I have fairly skinny wrists. Which one would you suggest?

    The 6s and Enduro are pretty different watches. The Enduro is quite large at 51mm in diameter. If you have skinny wrists and don't like big watches that may be a show stopper. The 6s is really small and actually has more features than the enduro if you opt for the 6s Pro or Sapphire. The Enduro however offers far superior battery life. Much like everything in life there are pro's and cons to both! Thanks for the kind words!

    I got the 6s as well due to the smaller size and weight. The biggest problem for me was the narrow and short strap that I had to lock on the last hole (not a petit lady...). I got an off-market fenix 6 strap and shaved a millimeter off the sides just at the very end of it where it enters the bezel. That way it fits in the 6s perfectly, looks and functions much better.

    Thanks for the nice informative video. Owning a 6s sapphire since Christmas I totally agree to your point about form factor. To me it's a perfect fit for everyday's use packed with all the features I expect from a premium sports and navigation watch. 2 points: - on my model there is no menstruations tracker pre installed ;) Actually, I learned of it the first time I watched your vid. Is this something they advertise in certain regions only like not in middle Europe? - to my experience the smaller screen is big enough for navigation and maps during running. One of my reqs is navigation for Mountainbiking. I didn't have the chance to actually test it yet - still, I am very optimistic it will navigate me nicely to and through unknown backcountry trails in semi known areas. Of course you can't compare it to bike computers (same as for the fenix 6 and 6x for sure) so I would expect a MTB tour where heavy reliance on navigation systems for several hours is necessary would get quite cumbersome with the small watch displays. Overall I am very happy with the 6s so far und quite surprised by its every-day usage "fitness". Still, I am curious about the battery endurance after a couple of months usage.

    The Womens Health widget is actually pre-installed but it's not shown on your home screen. If you go to Widgets > Add New you'll find it there. It's not there on the larger models but can be downloaded and installed if wanted. That's kind of what I meant in this video. Just weird. Yeah, the screen is totally adequate. I think it would only bother someone coming from a larger version like the 6 or 6x. Thanks for watching!

    Great overview, this is one of several of your videos that convinced me to go with the 6S. I wanted the regular 6 but at the current price of $350 the 6S was too good a value to pass up. Coming from a Vivoactive it's taking some time to get used to the buttons but it's nice how consistently they work in all weather and with gloves. I've been disappointed in one of the main reasons I wanted a Fenix or Forerunner...the live segments don't work worth a damn on my mountain bike trails and it gives up after about a mile. Odd how Garmin evidently demands a level of accuracy for live tracking that their watches can't deliver...but the segments do show up fine afterwards in Connect. Frustrating. Also with the lugs that sit high and the convex back I have to keep it on tighter than most watches to keep it stable. That's fine for workouts but results in clammy skin during daily/nightly use.

    Very interesting points! I need to replace my 5 year old Forerunner 235 with either Forerunner 745, 945 or Fenix 6(S). Since the differences are minor (as you´ve mentioned), it finally comes down to price. Personally would like to buy any of these 3 watches under 500 USD.

    I had terrible heart rate consistency on the 5x and 6x I switched to the normal 6 and got much better due to it actually fitting on my wrist

    Yeah for sure. I've noticed similar issues if I wear a large watch. Thanks for watching!

    Question. My Apple 4 watch has the vibration alarm. I love it. Does any of these have a vibrating alarm feature? Thanks. Great video

    I had the 6s pro solar on my wish list. However I also like the 745 so this video has really helped. Not actually sure what the Pro version offers though...

    Garmin has most of the features for sure but would love to have fenix in size “thickness”& screen quality as the Venu.

    You’re so right my fenix 5s still smallest I find is the only downfall big is annoying with wearing layers or on the bike. I’m gonna look for 745

    For sure, I hate trying to get the cuff of a jacket over the watch! The 745 is really low profile. Thanks for watching!

    Completely agree with the size remarks, using a 6x pro in daily life is like driving a large off-road truck around town. Some people like that, I guess. Resolution is also less on the Fenix 6s and 945 with 240px vs Fenix 6 260px, but since the screen diameter also changes that is not very noticeable. As a Connect IQ developer my angle is slightly different, I feel like crying when Garmin only allows 60kb of memory for widgets on the fenix 6s and 6 vs 1Mb in the 6s pro and 6 pro. You really have to cut down a lot to fit a connect IQ widget into these devices (graphics, calculations, interface, etc). For reference the vivoactive 4 and venu allow 512kb. So if you pick the 6s, make sure its the 6s pro to ensure best performance and compatibility with connect IQ widgets and apps. My 2c.
