Garmin 67W Dash Cam Review & Footage

Ғылым және технология

The Garmin 67W has a whopping 180 degree field of view, so you're sure to capture a significant portion of everything that happens on the road in front of you when using it. Watch my video for plenty of up close footage.

    Hopefully the camera records decent sounding quality audio? UPDATE: I just bought this camera, and tried it out. Well, thankfully, it turns out, the audio quality is decent, and the video quality is more than decent. The video does look distorted at the extreme edges, but that is because of the fisheye effect lens that this camera has. However, the area that's most important, looks very normal, good and clear. The fisheye look is actually what you want, because it allows for a very wide field of view. 180 degrees, I believe it is. This is far more than most dashcams. The setup is a little bit of pain (what dashcam isn't), but once you have it setup, you're good to go. Overall, I really like my Garmin 67W. So far, their app is the best rated app, and that's important. Their cameras and app keep getting better over time. Another great thing I like about Garmin dashcams is that they are very small and compact, and black. This easily helps it to be stealthy looking, and mostly hidden. I actually have two of these cameras setup in my pickup truck. One facing forward, and the other one rearward. If I ever get involved in an accident, all I have to do is easily remove the cameras and put them in my pocket, then wait for the police. It's a great peace of mind.

  • @vjekoslavburic3399

    @vjekoslavburic3399

    I have a 67W. It starts recording automatically and saves unsaved videos in the unsaved videos folder which get overwritten as the space fills up, but saved videos stay unless you format the card. As for parking mode, there are three options. First, turned off by default, is to use dash cam battery for parking mode. The second is when the camera doesn't move (default 5 minutes). And the third is via a cable that connects to your car's OBD port. The cable can be set to supply power for 10 minutes, 24 hours or indefinitely. If set indefinitely it will supply power until it detects that the car battery is almost depleted thus making sure your car battery still has some charge left for turning on your car and such.

    @vjekoslavburic3399

    Жыл бұрын

    @@robertmaxwell2142 The camera records either continuously or saves only "flagged" videos, depending on the option you choose. If you choose to save unsaved videos, it will save everything, so technically you'll be able to view everything the camera recorded... But it won't be "marked" in any way, so you'll have to guess which video is the one you're looking for, and you'll also have to find the exact time segments you want to watch. But the app offers to cut the video between two points you choose, so should you find the video segment you want, it's simply a matter of choosing a starting and ending point. But there's a special option for trips, called Travelapse, which takes a photo every minute or so and stitches those photos into one video.

    It does, it can run on battery (off by default, can be changed in settings), or if it doesn't move for a specified amount of time (mine is set at 5 minutes by default) or if you buy the special cable that connects to the OBD port in your car. You can set the cable to work for 10 minutes, 24 hours or indefinitely. The cable shuts off power when it senses that your car battery is low so it won't run down your car battery power.

    There are some big problems with the 67W and possibly the other Garmin models. First and most important, it will not power up from the usb ports!! My vehicle like many modern cars do not have a cigarette lighter outlet in the front so it is not possible to power the dashcam from this. The Garmin says it will work from usb outlets but also says this may not work and if it does not work then use cigarette lighter, they know their device is very flakey but have done nothing to fix it. Perhaps 1 in 10 attempts the device will work from usb and once it starts it will work for hours but you can't keep trying to plug it in as you will break the usb outlet as they are not very strong. All other devices I have tried work fine from the same usb outlet, it should provide enough power and the fact that on the very rare occasions the Garmin does start working it will continue to work proves that there is not an issue with the power outlet itself. The second problem is that it uses Fat32 file format so can only accept cards up to 32GB, this might not sound a big problem but if you are going on a relatively long drive you will use more than 32GB worth so will start overwriting the earlier footage and loose any incidents (saving only saves a very short bit of footage/still which may not be enough). If it does ever start working then it can produce some nice footage.

    Just bought this and i have an issue. Upon starting i have to select location, it doesn’t save it. Did firmware update and nothing. Talked to garmin support, sent them a video, no answer. It’s a bit frustrating to always have to manually select location. I think i’m going to sent it back and buy another brand. Update: problem solved, you have to be outdoor to validate your location and once it does that you won't have any problems.

  • @vladcraita

    @vladcraita

    @Tyrone Shoelaces I solved the problem. So the issue was that i configured the camera indoor and it couldn't connect to the satellites to validate my selected location. Once i took the camera outside and it had signal the problem was gone. Works well now. Just and fyi, it doesn't save all the videos, just only when it detects an event or you specifically tell it to. It films everything but that it doesn't save everything, hope that makes sens. In case of an event i think it saves -15s before the event and don't know how long after. The voice commands work well. Didn't have time to see what and if it has any video players. From what i've seen you can set the video to show the speed and location. It has something called timelapse to make a short clip of your trip, that'll cool. You have to tell it first, you cannot make a timelapse video after the trip if when you started you didn't specify. Anyway, I'm ok with the camera and i won't return it, the viewing angle is wide, 180 degrees. And I was impressed by how small it is.

    The most important thing a dash camera should do is record. DO NOT buy this camera.....it has 15 seconds record history you CANNOT change. Meaning, you pass through a yellow light and a police officer pulls you over up the road....you have NO video of it. If you have an event and DO NOT press "SAVE" right away, you will lose it. I bought this camera thinking it was an upgrade to my $100 camera which had user defined times of 30sec 60sec 90sec 180sec .....and found out after setting up you have 15second history. Of the 5 events I needed saved, 2 did save 15 seconds prior, 1 saved 5 seconds prior, 2 only saved from when I pushed the save button. Also, reviews claim you can watch your car live from home or while in the store over wifi,,,,this is NOT actually true. You have to log the camera in to the wifi first....meaning you have to have the password. I do not know any wifi passwords to any stores or places I travel. The direct connect to your phone has the range of the front bumper if your lucky. Went back to my old camera.
