Amazon (behind Ring), recently, admitted that they could give the information to the police (or, likely, whoever else might ask) without a warrant. Uhmmmm. why? I thought that if I purchase this, it's 'mine?' That means that it does not belong to Amazon. Therefore, they should not be able to give anything to anyone, ever. For Garmin, same idea holds. Too often we've traded freedom for safety. When that happens, we lose both.

What if someone murdered you and the camera had evidence. You would be unable to assist in the investigation and the murderer would potentially get away. Dont you think there are some scenarios where this could be useful

@@colindavis2031 How about all the times that you've done nothing that Ring just gives your information to the police? How likely is your murder scenario by chance? I would still prefer the police to have to have a warrant rather than Ring being able to just send it to them. It might be a better idea for the purchaser 'opt into' allowing Ring to give information to the police, allowing Ring to give a certain amount of information- from very little to all. That would be better, wouldn't it?

@@cayennepeppa707 do you really think police sit around watching Ring cameras with no purpose all day... i get what you are trying to say and I do kind of agree, I just don't think it is as malicious as you are making it out to be

@@colindavis2031 Years ago, when the Patriot Act was being debated, it allowed Feds to watch Americans without a warrant. "I'm not doing anything wrong, so what's the problem?" was the thought. This can lead to a slippery slope. Besides, if there is no crime, why do they even need the information. I've seen small steps lead to big leaps. It may not be malicious, but it sure can lead to overreach. A properly obtained warrant safeguards the victim, the alleged perp, AND the police.
