Has he said in his podcast when asked why he doesn't become ceo of cars and bids.. He said he makes car youtube videos for a living and shouldn't be responsible for running a company and fair play to him for that. He's made enough mimey now out of cars and bids and can now just do what he likes doing rather then doing things for money. He's a luck man.

Four years ago after watching one of your videos, I accepted your advise and and purchased a new Hyundai Sonata with a no interest loan. One of the things I've enjoyed is watching Doug mature from an industries kid into a grown Man! Watching Dougs life and how it has grown, has been quite enjoyable. This next phase of Dougs life will be very enjoyable. Hopefully he will continue to upgrade us on his life story. Oh a final word, another couple of cars you will need to hire an autmobgialist to handle and fondle your collection!

@@IceTTom No it doesn't, he started with a KZread channel. There are people who come to the USA with nothing and build businesses, it all depends on how much you're willing to sacrifice for your dream. Rent too expensive? Are you willing to live in a van? Can't get a van? Are you willing to be homeless for your dream? Because I can tell you right now there are people who do it, without massive monthly bills it's amazing what a person can accomplish, you find a way, you use gyms for showering, fast food stores are your bathrooms, rent a locker somewhere to store stuff, study at the library for your new career, cut off all toxic, useless friends who aren't supportive, work from morning to night, you CAN do it, you just don't take your dream seriously enough, you completely misjudge the lengths at which some people are willing to go to get where they want to be. You are just lazy and that's okay, you can change that, just admit it and be real with yourself and make a change today.

I also think the E450 is a perfect car for a family used vehicle. As myself grown older, I also realized you don't really need that power for your family car, besides, E450 and Audi A6 allroad both have turbo v6, which are not exactly slow. They might be slower than E63 or RS6, but they are a lot more comfortable to drive/ sit in.

Slowly but surely I acquired additional cars that are collectible and not depreciating assets. But on a beautiful day, it’s hard to drive more than one. I will likely follow your lead and get down to 5 or 6. Maybe I can upgrade the quality if I downgrade the quantity.

The only grounds one can raise reasonably is the amount of gas used. Ex: our two cars are a '21 RAV 4 XSE Hybrid (we have had one hybrid in the garage since 2006) and my '14 Manual Corvette. I can rationalize a sense of environmental "balance" (not saying I'm right but it gets me through the day) and a reasonably low amount of gas used (retired teacher). Even the C7 gets close to 30 on a highway cruise).

I hope these comments don't start to get into your head and cause you to question things about yourself because people that are actually paying attention will see that you're not only in tune with these privileges you have, but you're also very self aware. The automotive side of KZread has become quite toxic over the past couple years, with viewers encouraging people to maximize and live a life of excess. The viewers also have an expectation that the content creator share the exact same views as them along with a myriad of other unhealthy expectations. Throughout all of this, I feel your channel as been one of few to maintain its purity. You're right to be frustrated when your detractors are living in fiction land. The best is yet to come

I don't get all this "I don't drive it to keep its value up" So I appreciate you for actually moving your GT around! Happening a lot in the motorcycling community too. For me personally, a car that cannot be driven has no worth in it. It was designed solely for this purpose, which it won't fulfill as a "collectors" item. The driving experience isn't going to change much over the lifespan of a car, so drive it if you want to. Of course costs will rise as parts wear, but if that's a problem for you, you can't afford it anyways.

Yeah, you see bikes for sale with super low miles and the owner thinks it's still worth a ton, but it's still for sale many months later. You can buy something newer or better, who cares if it has more miles as long as it's nice (like wasn't stored outside).

I half agree - really beautiful cars are also a work of art - some collectors / owners keep them in their living room or in case of the 8C the owner screwed it to the wall as art. It's also different if you have tens of cars .

I think what people don't realise is that you can fall in and out of love with cars for the weirdest reasons. I bought one of my childhood dream cars in my Golf GTI but I know that it's never 'the end'. I am fully aware that at one point I'm selling this car. For what, that remains the question, but even if you love something, it might have to go at one point. Doug's had the CGT for a while now and the memories of owning it will remain forever, even if he does sell it. The fact that people on the internet gatekeep what their favorite KZreadrs buy and sell is crazy to me.

Doug is missing the thread. You are trying to argue with 17 year olds? No one hates you and no explanation is needed. The point is maybe some people think you are evolving from your basic concept of quirky cars to new cars and exotics. You can make a video explaining your shift in concept instead of bashing your base. Most don’t care and still follow you myself included who’s been a devoted follower. You are doing nothing wrong no explanation is needed.

I think with all the cars you have driven and are still to drive, the want vs need vs keep vs sell vs what next is even more difficult. Big ups for thinking the way you do, and being the Doug is the type of guy who drives his cars. May your dreams continue and be fulfilled.

Been a longtime subscriber and I completely understand. As you grow older, needs and priorities change and if you want to have a family, you can't take them around in old cars that likely aren't safe for modern standards. For the money, it's a simple fleet with the 3 dream cars you take out on a fun day that'll likely go up in value, the summer beach car, the modern daily that's also super practical, and the modern hauler that can still off-road a little.

I can relate 100%. I’m not at that level but I was juggling 4 vehicles for a year as a 52 year old single guy, living in a townhouse community with a one car garage, one spot in the driveway and two visitors parking passes. The ‘14 Miata Club is the garage queen, ‘93 MR2 occupied the driveway, the ‘99 SAAB 9-5 and ‘11 Forester (all manual) got the parking passes. Most of the time I had to park them a block away and walk. To my house. Got old when the weather wasn’t great. When I got married, my husband came with his ‘17 GLS and one had to be parked outside the community 2 blocks away. Sold the MR2 because I wasn’t driving it as much as I did. Before I was working 30 miles away and would drive it often on the beltway. But when I started working 8 miles away in DC, I was concerned it would deteriorate quickly on the horrible DC streets. It was one of my “dream” cars and was wonderful to own for 5 years. But that spot is better used for my husband and the other 3 ticks the boxes that work for me. The one owner SAAB is mint and a nice highway cruiser. The Subie is the daily beater. The Miata is my “I’ll sell it when I’m too old to drive it” car. Adulting has its compromises that my 18 year old self with a ‘89 CRX Si never imagined.

I thought it was cool to have them all and rode each every other day. In the early 90's thru the mid 2010's had a car and a scooter and up two a year ago a miata and a Honda bobber. Now I just have the bike, No trying to decide which one I am going to use. In a few more years when I completely retire I will own a Urus even though I would rather have a hurican. The younger me would be taking the sports car but the older me now is more practical.
