Great episode! A lot of the Ali Baba stuff isn’t even duplicated. It’s factory surplus from American companies that manufacture overseas. The brand orders more than they can sell in order to avoid running out of product and then when they upgrade to version 2, their overseas manufacturer puts the surplus up for sale to recoup their production costs. It’s a tough situation for the original creators but I don’t know the solution.

On the creator or link stuff, that’s why I much rather have a unique code or discount code. As long as that code gives you credit and not just the shoppers discount off

Chinese manufacturers use their ability to produce goods cheaply and quickly, thanks to large-scale production, low labor costs, and well-organized supply chains. This approach creates a situation where they naturally become the go-to producers for gym equipment, even for products originally innovated in the U.S. This strategy, known as Shi, leverages their strengths to dominate the market. By bringing these products to international markets faster and at lower prices, they capitalize on global demand, quickly becoming major players. Additionally, by subtly shifting the market's focus from the origin of innovation to the efficiency and affordability of production, they also employ a form of deception, steering the competitive advantage towards themselves and away from the original innovators.

@@nicelikemike I can say that when I started my home gym I placed two large orders with Rogue via two different affiliate links. The second affiliate claimed he never received anything, and I never really confirmed whether the first affiliate absolutely got paid. I thought maybe I had screwed up when placing the orders, but I could tell from my browsing history that I had used a different affiliate URL when I placed each order. I emailed back and forth with Rogue for a couple of weeks regarding the situation, but I have no idea whether it was ever rectified.

Diving right into all of the controversial topics! If I was Rep I would do the following: 1) Offer to let anyone who ordered an Ares that hasn’t shipped to switch that to a pre-order. 2) For anyone that ordered an Ares that has been delivered in day the last month, offer to let them return the 1.0 for a 2.0 pre-order. If the buyer wants to keep the 1.0, give them a discount on their next Rep purchase. Some people will still be mad if they’re outside of what ever accommodation window Rep could offer, but at some point you can’t make everyone happy. Looking at the two, a conversion kit isn’t possible. You can do a full replacement and then sell your 1.0. But at most you could reuse the stacks. I doubt anything else could be repurposed for a 2.0 install.

Innovation alone doesn't safeguard intellectual property. Although I appreciate Darko's creations, my position as a content creator not favored by both the home gym discord and Darko puts me in a unique spot. I find it hilarious to watch the stuff that the home gym entitlement and silly feelings support group gets upset about.

Rep offered me 150 dollars because I complained. I bout the product a couple weeks ago. I feel so bummed out and $150 to go is pretty much a slap in the face. This isn’t something you can just send back. I’m utterly in shock there was no mention made during the pre purchase product. At least give your customers the option to make the decision as to whether they would be fine with v1.
