Don't argue with corporate. Just say "yes sir" then do what you know works for you. Don't go out of your way to let them know you have kept doing it your own way. And if they ask you say "we are doing our very best." And start saving up to go independent.

I hope that manager takes the sales analytics from his new store and sends it to GW along with video of rubbing his nipples with the data on a printout. This is what you could of won!

This is all true, me being a player over 25+ yrs GW stores have done these things even in the USA. A district manager would come to are store 3 Saturday of every month, and say GW does not support in store gaming period. Since this store has a monthly calender online stating every saturday, I told this district manager that if he continues GW could be sued buy every gamer and customer that shops at this store. He turned white and left the store right then and there and never returned, saving are gaming store and place to play. 😁

God....the more stuff I hear about games workshop the more their work model seems like that of a caveman! There are telephone companys that treat their customer better than these people. What absolute regression "yeah, you won us 10k by selling that expensive kit but you gave for free that actually cheap to make kit that usually just sits on the shelf, bench you didn't make us 10.1k, you are a failure", "you made a shop generate us a s ton of money but you didn't do it our way so you wrong, no the fact our way makes almost zero in real life doesn't count" dude! Their disconnect is amazing, if GW didn't own such a strong IP, they would have disappeared years ago.

We play war differently from the ones in charge. Our soldiers have no life to give and go back into the same box as the ones who survived.

With the shops shifting away from games I'd wondered why GW didn't start setting up clubs in community centres and the like to encourage people to play. That manager's story probably explains why.

How has this type of behavior been allowed to continue by the shareholders? If the shareholders discovered how incompetent the senior regional management are, and how much money they cost the company, I am very certain they would demand to clean house of these people.

Grail! Sound awesome! And sounds like a manager we once had here in Tucson. Called him big jon (he's nearly 7' tall) and it was the golden age of GW in this city. Though the last year of his employment, he was jaded due to GW management and most players flaking on participating in events he'd put together. There's a nice dude there now but no one really goes there anymore. There's only 1 table and really no events.

Props to those guys continuing the hobby in a WARZONE! That's just inspiring. Let nothing stand in the way of you and your hobby community! Also, why does GW seem to always have such toxic managers/ trainers? Do they intentionally hire people with those traits, or is it just that they're the kind of people to play the sleazy, cliquish, corporate game?

30:00 All this tells me is that they want their stores to fail for some reason, to make less profit (as in the stores you pay 100% MSRP while every other place is cheaper; which means that longterm customers only buy there for store-loyalty. Loyalty that has to be built and maintained. Paying 100% MSRP is basically paying a tip for good service. Whatever GW is trying to achieve with this, it is something else than they're telling, because what they're telling makes no sense and they must know it. I have never witnessed a company with such open disdain for its customers. "Eww, people coming into our stores! What icky diseases might they have!? Shoo shoo! Out with you!"

So then, maybe a better strategy for your Warhammer hobby is to just ignore what you cant ever change, which is GW corporate culture. This is not an apology for GW or criticism of people who want to hold GW accountable for their poor treatment of their employees or people such as myself that mock them for their many self inflicted failures. Woodworking is my other major hobby but I dont diminish my enjoyment of woodworking by agonizing over the inflated cost of tools and materials. I guess I am really saying that you can really put too much energy and time into the negative aspects of this hobby because it easy to wind yourself up over GW. Definitely made this mistake many times myself.
