Yes I do like the option. Most of the time if I am playing RDR2 or Ghost of Tsushima I usually don’t use it unless I just want to get somewhere quickly. I usually use it in Zelda so I don’t get distracted though the only time I don’t is when I don’t have the option to.

Nice pfp but I definitely disagree with ER. There's definitely places where it's great to just ride on horse and especially if you're not going to 100% but there's enough branching paths like Mohgwyn Palace, places you'd want to frequently return to like Gurranq and one-way dead ends like where you find the Cinquedea or Rain of Arrows Ashes. It's the same with ghost of tsushima. And the way they guide you to your waypoint in it is so great for immersion. Just mark it on your map and the wind changes direction to where you placed it. No waypoints, compasses, or mini maps to look at. Just gathering the information from the world and nature around you. It's easily the best mechanic in the game imo. So simple and yet so elegant

The thing about cyberpunk that made me want to drive around was the well placed in-betweens the devs placed early on, you never felt the need to travel because the game makes it so that exploring every part is worth it. Not to mention, cyberpunk hardly had any loading screens or any repetition in the city, the city was really alive. What I would give to play it for the first time again.

yes but I am of the opinion that abusing fast travel ruins the game, an example would be Zelda: Breath of the wild. In the first 40 hours of the game I focused only on the main mission and some side quests, abusing the fast traveler: I had never visited many parts of the map and I had never stopped to admire the setting. And in these first 40 hours of play I didn't fully enjoy the game. Once I defeated the boss I decided to complete several secondary missions and I forced myself never to abuse the fast traveler again... Well in these last hours of the game I had much more fun and I realized the masterpiece that is Zelda : Breath of the wild.

Tsushima is average for me, it follows the same ubisoft open world formula which tbh is outdated and retarded, it borrows some mechanics from nioh and sekiro but it's nothing in comparison to any of them I literally got bored in just few first hours, because I already knew what I was going to do and what this game has to offer, there is no sense of mystery and no inspiration to explore the world which quickly killed the vibe for me despite of showcasing some great animations and visuals. Elden ring was a different story however, it was a non conventional open world which really intrigues players to explore it's world without having the need for fast travel

@DanoninhoLoL idk what's entirely going to happen with it, but it's slated for this year, earlier rather than later, but at least the audio, graphics and a shit ton of bugs are going to be improved and fixed, specifically downtown Boston won't be nearly as laggy. Also they're going to be adding a new mod loader, like what they recently did with skyrim

Cyberpunk is one of the only games I never once used fast travel. The city was so immersive and amazing, that every detail you’d come across would make the drive/metro/walk worth it. A game that will always have an amazing place in my heart m.

There’s almost zero point in fast traveling in the Insomniac Spider-Man games but the quick cutscenes of Spidey riding the subway are spectacular.

I only use fast travel when I’m impatient and wanna get places and get missions done, but the games I typically don’t fast travel in are Far Cry 5, RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk 2077, and Watch Dogs 2 (I like driving and hacking to blow stuff up simultaneously :3) probably others but I have mostly been playing games that don’t have fast travel like Resident Evil, Mafia, TLOU, FNAF, Silent Hill, Detroit Become Human (and other Quantic Dream games)

I loved wandering around the Horizon Zero Dawn world, and most if was by foot. When I needed to backtrack somewhere far away, I would tame a machine and gallop across the map there. The only times I used fast travel was at the end game, when any travel would result in additional resources for my already filled to the brim resource pouch, and only for times like returning to Meridian's traders, because the side quests were depleted and I had no other reason to travel there...

I can totally appreciate this for games where movement is really intertwined into the gameplay. For games like Spiderman where it is super fun and relatively easy to traverse the map, I find myself avoiding fast travel relatively often. But games like Skyrim or Elden Ring where traversal can be a huge hassle, it can definitely take away from your enjoyment and is not worth the realism.
