Void Stranger is amazing, more folks should check it out!
Honestly I’m so genuinely happy Frank is getting to go to Japan. Crossover of the century!

I actually exclaimed YAY FRANK when he said it
On the lost DS - I once had my Gameboy Colour fall out my pocket onto the seat when I got up to get off the Tube. The awesome kid next to me knew how much it would mean to me, called out to me then threw to me on the platform as the doors were closing. Probably the most cinematic moment of my life and only another kid would've done it. Adults wouldn't have noticed/cared or been too slow to react. Also once lost my wallet out my backpack when running home next to Thames and backtracked a few miles to where I think the problem started and found this amazing little old lady who had found it and was waiting for me because security of the building nearby wouldn't take it. So, TLDR - heroes walk among us, find Maisie, become one.
The closest I've gotten to becoming a vinyl sicko is seeing the Tetris Effect collection. With how ephemeral and intangible most things I enjoy are, I thought it would be cool to collect something physical, useable, but still space efficient. That Tetris release looks so good! I don't have a player for now and already know I'd justify a whole lot of "very good deals" if I got one.
Danny mentioning inscryption reminded me that we need a doc on it asap. Such an amazing game. Also Daniel Mullins just announced his new one that looks just as weird and unique.
It was a long, cold few weeks without the pod!
Tape to Tape, published by Matt Rorie. it's a small world ;)
Retro Bowl was my favorite game of last year. Got me through so many long nights with toddler and sleep regression
thanks for the Homebody recommendation. Played it and loved it. Bit confused by the ending but loved the game.
I tried to replay RE 5 last year and the biggest issue regarding the game's "negative reception", in my opinion, is precisely that they made a CO-OP game. While it makes no sense to complain about a CO-OP game being bad to play in singleplayer, it is clear that it is a very short and canned version of the concepts presented in Resident Evil 4. The core of the experience is polished, but they simplified everything so that the co-op experience could be played despite the technological limitations of the 7th generation consoles and removed any ambiguity that could hinder the game's pacing. It's amazing how many games from that era were like that. It's funny that they even give you a map, telling you that you can walk forward. As if it were possible for you to get lost in this game or as if you had to look for something. I tried to play alone and it was a nightmare, having to divide my attention between babysitting the NPC that accompanied me and the huge amount of extra enemies that I had to deal with due to how incompetent my companion was. The NPC that accompanies you has an extremely simple behavior that is incompatible with the dynamics of the game. He is unable to prioritize enemies or display any sense of self-preservation. You have two modes of behavior: Kamikaze Mode and I'm-gonna-stick-to-you-eat-a-third-of-your-peripheral-vision-and-bump-into-you-the-entire-time mode. The overwhelming majority of deaths in the game are from the NPC dying, not you. I had to install a mod to make him immortal, invisible and without collision for the game to be minimally tolerable. And then the experience became significantly unbalanced. It was quite sad. I had to lower the difficulty, which in this specific case makes me play in a much more clumsy and relaxed way. Half the fun is lost. So, the game was "poorly received" (Not really), probably because it's a mediocre singleplayer game. No atmosphere. No charm. Just all action using a visually updated version of the previous game's combat. But without a doubt, it is one of the best cooperative games of that time.
Great job boys. Looking forward to a great year of games 2024! My goal is to get my newest game in your critical mitts :)
Petition for a Danny’s Vinyl Collection series? Just sitting down and talking about them? Yes please
NOCLIP 2024 BABY!!
PLEASE TELL JEREMY TO PLAY "BABA IS YOU". I feel like that's a game he would absolutely appreciate, despite lack of background/interest in Sokoban. Other great ones I've heard about are Stephen's Sausage Roll, A Good Snowman is Hard to Build, and Patrick's Parabox.

Patrick’s Parabox is a great one if you’re looking for something accessible. Also recommend A Monster’s Expedition (by a good snowman devs) and jelly is sticky. For something more “mind blowing”/meta in the vein of void stranger, paquerette down the bunburrows was very popular. (Also shameless plug check out my game Headlong Hunt ;) )
We called it "Home Keys" at my school.
We're so back
"Cathlovania" is perfect lol

Or "Cathlivania" might work
Just call em quick looks Danny, it's ok.
Woohoo! It's Friday! ❤
Fun fact ( but you lovely dudes probably know that ? But just in case :) ) : next Jon Blow is full on sokoban with 700 levels or something ? haha ( while at it : testing & proving his new programming language in it, & planning to release full source code for good measure because, well, Jon Blow :D ) might be a neat noclip doc down the road ? ( plenty streams on it for years now )
Homebody is $5 right now on Steam.
Void Stranger "You just need to play it perfectly to get True ending" - laughs in 40 hours - "That's the trick! They just made you think that you need to!" Seriously Void Stranger is an amazing game that makes you really feel that "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" high as you blitz past parts that took you hours in mere minutes.
Can Jeremy please play Visage so I can know whether to get it or not, I am currently very poor and on the fence. I have read some reviews but it’s hard to parse whether the people who hate it just don’t like the genre. At this point I only trust Jeremy’s takes ❤

Thanks for the kind words! I'll add it to my list. Too many games to play, but Visage does look super interesting.

@@jeremybjayne hey man no worries, without you I would not have played Signalis , RainWorld or Hero’s of Might and Magic so I feel in debt to you for these experiences. It’s hard to find reviews without a whiff of an agenda at the moment and it’s clear you just love games. Despite all my praise I still have not tried Home Body yet as I am very put off by the art style ( I had the same issue with Outer Wilds) but that is just a ‘me’ issue 😂

@@MrGreedylou That's lovely to hear, thank you! No worries, I totally feel you- aesthetic is a big part of the experience of any game, so personal preference plays a big role. Glad to hear we've clicked with some of the same games. Appreciate you saying so.

@@jeremybjayne aesthetic is a much better word for it. I’m not anti-whimsy, I just for some reason do not vibe with heavy themes being delivered this way if it has that homogeneous Pixar look I guess….it’s hard to put a finger on because I don’t mind if Ghibli do it … I think it’s perceived artistry maybe because that Pixar/Dreamworks style has been lazily aped so much I switch off 🤷♂️
I consider myself the No.1 Resident Evil fan (out of anyone I know of) and I never touched RE6. For the reasons Jeremy said. I didn't want it to taint my love for the rest of the genre.
I'd be so into a West Side Story game it's not even funny.
All the talk about the deconstructing of sports games in the past has me itching for some Fifa street
