Comment from the future: Sonic Frontiers has a fishing Minigame where Sonic fishs out pretty much anything. This guy can fish out a shark from a pond and you can SEE him doing it!🤣 Also considering it's Sonic's point of view you could argue that the easy into-ring QTE shows how easy it is for Sonic. That guy is a fisherman pro!

In regard to Shadow's game, Sonic says in it that "he'd never be caught dead with one of those (guns)" which would imply at the very least a distaste of them, if not that he outright refuses to use them, which is why I would have objected BUT you bringing up Sonic Shuffle seems to validate that Sonic can use them for sports, and his quote could rather just be referring to not liking to fight with them when there are other options. So it all checks out.

It also proves a pretty big strength feat seeing as sonic uses a wooden fishing pole to fish up a goant ocean sunfish and hold it without any help. Those fuckers weigh 2 tons at a MINIMUM

Even if Mat's fishing logic held _at the time,_ it certainly doesn't after Frontiers. Heck, considering the size of some catches he gets, _Sonic_ probably has the win over Mario there! But I'd err on it being a draw.

This made me realize I have to click the bell for notifications, can't believe I missed it when it came out.

That is until sonic does fishing in sonic frontiers.

And now we have Sonic Frontiers where Sonic does go fishing and not only that, he swings a giant robot titan by his tail and throws him at a mountain, just like Mario does with Bowser in Mario 64 Also there are Sonic official artworks made by Yuji Uekawa (the creator of Modern Sonic's design) where Sonic is playing a lot of sports, football, basketball, tennis, soccer, and I think that could count considering it is supposed for Sonic to be very athletic, plus, it was made by the official Sonic designer interpreting the modern games canon Sonic, there is also a Classic Sonic soccer artwork made for SEGA's Harmony And there is also the Sonic LCD games, where there are games such as "Tails Soccer", "Shadow's Basketball", etc. And as MatPat stated, if one of the characters of the series do it, it means the protagonists can do it too.

In STC Sonic uses a gun. Sonic shuffle Sonic uses a gun. Whenever sonic flies a plan with guns attached like in the arcade shooter Sonic uses a gun. Sonic may talk like he's never fired off a blocky before but he has it's just not his preferred weapon of choice. He's much like obi wan in which he finds it uncivilized and prefers dueling weapons like swords and the like as he has wielded them in multiple sources of media quite often. There's a lot of niche and rare sonic more that people don't know about our fast blue boi

I am honestly surprised he did have a bias against Mario, considering the man straight up admitted to being dishonest about Mario being a psychopath and still defends that point to this DAY. Although, I do have some nitpicks (but I still enjoyed your video and presentation, these are just my urge to say something I disagree with); Mario should win Fishing, as we see Mario in Island Tour being more skilled to catching fish constantly, and since Mario has more experience than Sonic, Mario needs the W here. However, a lot of these Olympic events is basically to see who's faster/stronger, and in terms of power-scaling, I would argue that Mario far outclasses Game Sonic in damn near every category, with maaaaybe the exception of running speed, which Mario himself can compare to (Ex; Out-swimming a Black Hole, scaling off of Dimentio, etc.). Mario is more skilled, smarter, stronger, can lift more, etc. So i would argue Mario win almost every single events due to Mario just straight up being built different. And as for Matpat saying, in terms of normal events, "Sonic Wins them all", I would contest that extremely. But all this aside, I still like your video, keep it up!

And another point is that the Tornado was Sonic's plane to begin with it was only the Tornado 2, and Cyclone that were Tails', so yeh Sonic can 100% fly a plane even without having seen it in 3&K

In Mario 64 specifically The Tick Tock Clock stage is stated that at a certain point time as a concept stops and Mario's still able to move and that's an immeasurable speed feat, Mario also play sports with toad who is faster than him, so Sonic Speed wouldn't be a problem because Mario is just as fast and can even be argued to be faster than Sonic, Mario also has a laser gun in Yoshi's Safari, also not hating on Sonic I still think he's cool,

MatPat is biased!? 0.0 Not surprisingly, MatPat has become very biased in all his theory. He still thinks that Hyrule Warrior connected the entire Zelda Timeline and that Mario is Mental. And despite all the evidence that discredits his theory, he refuses to acknowledge it. That's why some people call it Cherry Picking because he ignore evidences that debunk his theory. And when he responded to this, he always attributed it to trolling or hating, showing that MatPat can't take criticism.

Sonic also went fishing in Sonic Frontiers, so...

I would consider Sonic constantly using his speed cheating as he is using it to beat what is just a feeble man compared to him in every single match of a world tournament.

Sonic is fast yet this dude used sonic 06 height to sonic 1 map and started saying mario is slower.

Sonic using his speed in the Olympics wouldn't be fair on Mario and therefore shouldn't even be allowed to participate.

Mario is fast in his own right, he just isn't known for being fast. He broke the sound barrier with his speed, dodge lasers and could casually move with gravity heavier then black holes and nuetrons stars. So sonic wouldn't win as easily as you nor matpat says

2:33 i don't know about this one, we can see in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Tour that Mario isn't just a kart driver, he straight up owns some kind of car-related business named "Mario Motors", he also owns a racing team, and we even see him repairing a car in a garage/workshop in one of the loading screens. You could say mario is kind of a mechanic to an extent, which makes me think he would actually know more than sonic about the world of motor sports. Fun fact, the name "Mario Motors" actually comes from a cancelled Mario game for the DS where you could create and modify vehicle parts to try to maximize their performance.

I'll be that one person and say both would win at anything no matter what. I still believe that the headcanon of Mario, despite competing with Sonic, is kind enough to keep helping him learn how to swim. Mostly, since the VS thing is stupid for me and both characters are cool in their own way. Nobody necessarily has to be better than the other when both are legit amazing. Plus, they're canonically best friends, so what's even the point in doing this silly argument? They both can't exist without the other, and that's a fact. Team Marionic for the win (it's my duo name for them) 💜

Could we say that Sonic could win against Mario in mechanics sports? I may be wrong if so then my bad. Sonic 2, we didn't have much info on Tails being a mechanic in the games. An interesting detail is the name "Sonic" on the side of the plane giving us a guess he'd likely made it on his own at the time and slapping that seal of approval. Yes Tails is a mechanic in modern Sonic games, but it just feels odd to me.

Matpat should hire this guy after he retired. I mean, he seems great at theories.

Not necessarily. After doing this video, I discovered that there is official art by Sega showing Sonic doing multiple sports, including soccer and football. MatPat counts fanart as canon, so official art must also be so. This would have resulted in a tie for 3 of the events, removing 3 of Mario’s points.
