One thing u didn’t mention is how in rocket league when you “win” loot boxes, you still have to pay. Many players, including me have fallen for that even though we all hate that system. If there is any way u could do a part 3 that would be great.

Considering a lot of teachers are limited to what they can teach and schools(as well as overworked and underpaid), it's very unlikely that we'll see much change in that regard. Especially when the people running the schools also have an agenda to remain in power and fill their pockets. If anything, parents need to start teaching this stuff at home. People need to teach their families, friends and so on. It's gotta be a community-based education, instead of an institution- based one.

Oh if I ever have kids, believe me they will get some teaching above and beyond their schoolwork from home. However, it is easier to spread any knowledge from an institutional level, so getting some help on that front would be good. Something that I would love to do if I could get J.K. Rowling to sign off on it is to create an extracurricular program covering CB and LF and throw in some mindfulness meditation and call it Occlumency... Would've been more effective when I was in high school during the height of Potter mania but still it could be worth it to try lol

In reality, most unneccssery goods you buy are worthless, such as Starbuck Coffee, gym club memberships, or even a dinner at a fine restauramnt etc. You can easily buy good coffees with better value and exercise without a gym. You rarely get anything back, coins maybe but most of the time you spent more than you won. With lootboxes, it may be digital stuff, but you get to keep that on your account, even if it is just garbage. You ALWAYS get SOMETHING, and you never lose. You just don't necessarily always get what you want.

Most of you are missing the point. Stop saying "oh real stuff is worthless too". The point is, the digital things they give you in the game cost the game designers absolutely nothing to pay out to you. Casinos at least have to give you real money in say a slot machine, aka REAL losses, not free digital copies.

Ooh you pulled the game theory intro that super rare considering that it only shows up about once a week and is always late xD But seriously I love your theories.

I love how much Overwatch is referenced in this!!!!!!

Honestly I don't understand how they make so much money off of the loot boxes. Never once have I even considered paying real life money for loot boxes in any game. They have only ever struck me as an annoying and shallow reward system. For example, within my first 5 hours of CS:GO, I was lucky enough to get one of those $17 crates. I didn't even for a second think of opening it. I just went on the steam market and sold it, essentially paying off my game for me. In PUBG, Rocket League, Shadow of War, Overwatch, Halo 5 and many many more over the past few years you will not find a single purchase of loot boxes or any other of the sort. To me, I buy the game, I play the content, and I push through any stupid reward system they've implemented. Don't get me wrong, I'd much prefer getting rid of loot boxes entirely in favor of a more fair and better reward system, all I'm saying is that I really don't understand how people can spend hundreds of dollars just trying to get in game virtual skins. It almost ruins the whole "being proud" aspect of the reward systems in favor of "I spent the most money so I look the coolest". It's not just a "nonsensical rambling" tough. There are a lot of games that make all their profit on what we call "Whales", which are the few players willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on the games' store. In short, most companies that rely on loot boxes already expect that 85% of their playerbase don't spend a single penny on loot boxes, 10% could just buy one or two boxes for various reasons, but that remaining 5% of the playerbase, the whales, will give enough money to make their profit.

Edson Junior - Then say: Most people don't even consider buying lootboxes. But due to these whales (most readers will know what a "whale" is, trust me) they keep blocking content behind paywalls. And that sucks!

I read the whole comment. I feel terrible for spending money on loot boxes. I'm gonna stop wasting money on games. Not worth when you don't have a source of income. Well I have money but I'm done spending it on loot boxes.

I read your comment and I completely agree. I've never paid for any microtransactions ever and I actually sorta like loot boxes in games because they actually give you an incentive to continue playing. Battlefield Hardline was one of my favorite games but it was only fun until I unlocked everything and I was like... what goal do I have now? Then I realized that I didn't get the same dopamine rush after each match that I did with games like Halo 5 where you get 3 free daily boxes.

The saddest part is we don't even know if it's really luck : You click on a skin/objet you like and can have in a lootbox, you spend time looking at it, the game collect the data and know what you're looking for. Now what avoid the game to adapt the loots in fonction of the data it collected? Ethic?

@@ambermargheim5726 they never replied so.. what I gather is they are saying the game collects data on what items you spend time looking at the most (as in want as rewards) and uses that data to hardly ever give you those items,in an attempt to keep you coming back and trying over and over. But, I doubt its that deep and just low odds or random timer, and a big selection pool, limits you getting EXACTLY what you want when you DO hit for a rare item.

literally the worst form of lootbox, here you can pay to open this thing you got in a game!" it's an inconvenience both for those who want to grind for free boxes and those who want to buy their boxes (since if you buy keys you probably cant buy the boxes)

6:50 My biggest example was going for that damn sea turtle mount in WoW. I was fishing for a *month straight* and crashed my server's market on those salmon for the rest of the expansion. By the time I got the mount I was so dead inside I just kept fishing.
