As a kid I knew nothing about video games. I really wanted one of these after seeing the ad on TV. The man working in the shop advised I get a Gameboy instead. There are some good people in the world :-D

I'm always fascinated by how technology reaches mainstream appeal, which I increasingly realize is not about who did what first. If you had told me there was a handheld console in 1997 with internet access and a touch screen, I would have been completely amazed. But when you look at the console itself, you realize that those features mean nothing unless you can use them meaningfully.

Why does hell have an elevator? I'd think it would be more punishing if you had to walk up or down stairs. Elevators are pretty posh. I don't even have one in my hell house.

I'm happy with one math. I would be happier with 0% math because numbers are for Plato and his freaks. Euro-Britian can have all the maths they want. The only reason I could possibly think of to use this thing to look at my e-mail on it is if I had an e-mail from a drug dealer and I didn't want the government to know what I'm doing. KZread was filled with people just using their family cheapo camcorder to record various things while charming and fantastic for the time these days many may find it hard to sit through . You knowledge of Fighters Megamix is spot-on (aside from the gaffe about Janet). Good stuff. There's also another version of Bahn (Ura Bahn), Bean and Bark from Sonic The Fighters, an inflatable bear (I think that's what it was) called "Kumachan", a Mexican jumping bean called "Deku", and the game also had a playable version of the AM2 palm tree and a big slab of meat on two legs if you were real diligent about poking around.

Hey Stuart. Just a bit of trivia regarding cartridge slots; I'm not sure if they were technically cartridges, rather than disks, but the Cambridge Z88 had slits for no fewer than 4 'cartridges' to be inserted at once. My father wrote most of the code for that device, so I grew up with one as my own personal computer.

Fun fact, Candy in Fighting Vipers was actually to be included in Sonic Championship/Sonic the Fighters, but as a mobian cat named Honey. Look her up. It's real. She was scrapped, but brought back in the PS3/360 ports

2:32 Heres a sad story about my first time with the gameboy pocket. I went to flea market one day and they had a small store full of retro games and consoles, i laid my eye on the only gameboy pocket they had (It was the same color btw). I decided to spend $28 in total for the handheld as well as a copy of Kirby's Dream Land. Once I stepped outside, I got excited and turned on the power. Nothing but a black vertical line appeared. I tried turning on the power with and without the cartridge but I still got the same result. So I returned it saying how they sold me a defective handheld. They apologized and gave me a gba instead for free.

Holy shit I had one of these way back then! I was just cruising around your videos and then stumbled into this. My favourite game back then was RE2, but I didn't own a lot of games, just a handful. It was pretty neat though at the time.

I've had one of these with the optional modem. Granted, it was only text but I could check my HoTMaiL account from a hotel. I felt like a baws. The only thing I never liked was the lack of a backlight. But hey, it was 1997...

The game.com...I remember this...this thing was going to be the next best thing to warm bread and butter. There even were Screenshots of a Symphony of the Night Port for this Thing - to bad it never got released and the Unit failed.

Actually, Tiger was bought by Hasbro. You remember the Furby? Yeah, that was all Tiger Electronics. Even after being absorbed by a larger company, they still trolled the toy world.
