After finding out how big of a fan Stephen Hawking was of Monty Python, I am so glad he got to do this with them. It made this even better. The greatest theoretical mind of the past 100 years in cosmology and astrophysics...was also someone who loved the Python just as much as his science. God rest his and Terry's souls.

Guess what. All of the Python's are "Atheist", therefore you can take your "God" etc. and blow it, out, your Galactic Gastric Central Point. Rest, In Peace, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones and The Spanish Inquisition, not that i expect the Spanish Inquisition to Rest, In Peace.

He is one of those professors who didn't mind to make some jokes here and there. He will never be forgotten. May it because of Big Bang Theroy, Monty Phytons, The Simpsons (TV and the mobile game) or whatever. Thank you Monty Pythons for those wonderfull many years. :)

Rick Sanchez I loved that too.
The Pythons are, and will always be, incredible! Even when they screw up, they're funny! AND THAT is what comedy is all about!
"...cause there bugger all down here on earth." Is one of the absolute best lyrics written, ever.
I will miss your sense of humor Mr. Hawking. R.I.P.
Rest in piece Mr Hawking. You will be missed

That's typical of Stephen's sense of humour. Loved it. I wonder if the clip of him saying "You have the universe upside down" still exists.
I love Python so much. Comedic geniuses all. What are the odds that so much genius would come together like it did?
The part with Stephen Hawking going a driveby was hilarious XD
All it was missing was the "so....can we have your liver then?" bit at the end.
madds mikkelsen looks a lot younger in the end huh
This is just a bit of the best that Britain has to offer the world. It’s truly beautiful.
The Meaning of Life, is the underrated jem of the Monty Python films
The look they briefly exchange at 2:01 is particularly moving, spelling "so happy to be here together after so many years".

Agreed. It's getting much worst as idiocracy continues to run its course. This songs basically foreshadowing lol.
Seriously-that key change in the instrumental break is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Idles greatest moment and it wasn't comedy!! (And I CAN'T suss it out on my guitar..!)

It's B to Cdim7 to Bb, taking advantage of the fact that Cdim7 is just A9 with the root lopped off. You expect Cdim7 to resolve to Eb, then F7, then around the circle of fifths to end on G (which is not an unreasonable modulation, as the the interlude is in F#, and we are used to modulation up a half step from Broadway musicals). However, A9 does indeed resolve nicely to Bb, which sets up the big swell back to the verse. The emotional moment comes from the unexpected switch of Cdim7 into A9, which is in some sense the musical equivalent of a pun. So, in effect, Eric Idle just engaged in classic Python wordplay, but in musical form!

An old Yank here. Hats off to you Brits. Hip hip hurrah.
I love that Eric updated the facts in the lyrics, now I have to learn them all over again. Curse you, self righteous scientist!!
When Hawking calls you pedantic, you know you're in trouble! FYI, even geothermal energy ultimately comes from the sun as ALL objects native to the solar system came from the sun.
This song could have been the opening song for the Big Bang series.

Monty python was and is the spirit of what people really wants. Breaking out of the prison that is not art. They wants us to underskud how wild and amazing life is. And that science destroys life if it goes to far. And in all its the true meaning of life.

Superb.....And Brian Cox's and Stephen Hawking's contributions are pure genius....until the lady lifts Mr Hawking's arm up and waves it like Kermit The Frog.
Why the lyrics change? Was it intentional or did he just forget? Or were the original stats wrong and so had to be corrected by Cox and Hawking?
@BronyDanProductions

Steve Forest Eric did change them because the facts of the universe have changed since 1983, but even so, Brian Cox still thinks they're inaccurate.

Actually, if some of the energy is geothermal, from the radioactive decay of uranium, I thought the source of the uranium and other heavy elements were supernova and are violent stellar events. So then Python were right.
