I'm not sure about how you set the brightness level on each phone, but I noticed the iPhone X was on 50% more or less (you can see it on the settings screen) while the OnePlus 6 looked like it was in full brightness. That would definitely have a huge impact on the battery drain. I have seen other battery drain comparison tests out there between the OnePlus 6 and the iPhone X or the Samsung Galaxy 9+ and the OnePlus 6 always outlasted the other 2 phones. Thus I'm not quite sure how reliable this comparison was. No offense.

Oneplus 6 definitely wasn't on full brightness, the brightness sliders were between the 40 and 60% mark on each phone, but manually adjusted as their relative % brightness depends on their maximum brightness, which is different for each phone.

Thanks for explaining this. However, on your video, the OnePlus 6 definitely looks like it's the brightest of all the phones you showed. I own the OnePlus 6 myself, and from my experience, the display is not one of the brightest out there unless you set the brightness level high. If you had the Adaptive brightness on it's also possible it got boosted automatically even if you set it low manually. That's the only explanation I could see for that.

Guido Imbimbo I agree. I'd like to see the actual brightness levels on each phone. You can only see this on the iPhone X, and I think the brightness levels were different on each phone. The reviewer explained the levels were set between 40 and 60%, but still, i think there's a significant difference between 40 and 60% that would have an impact on the battery drain.

Just imagine the iphone x with the battery size of the p20 pro (4000mAh)...

Iphone have really different durability of hardware.. even if its is low specs, still can perform the same with the higher one (android).. on which some of the android users didnt know.. dont know why it feels fuckin different on androids when im touching the screen.. 😧😧😧

My Huawei P20 Pro gives 5- hours & 30/45 minutes Screen on time after all day of heavy usage from 100% to 10% & then i charge it from its Super charger & it took 1 hour & 15 minutes to charge But i observed normally it took just 60 minutes to charge from 10% to 90% ♥✌★

DARKSHARK 7X No not at all, im also a heavy user, But i observed it heats up little bit in 4K video recording or in (1080p) with 60fps, as well Overall no lag at all, even if you play heavy game like "PubG" it will run smoothly, Good thing is it consumes very less battery if you are a heavy user of facebook, Instagram, Whatapp & specially KZread as well but it consumes battery while playing heavy graphic games (not in normal graphics game like, 8-ball poll) Recommend from my side👌

What I have noted with these reviews are how the S9 started with great battery life when new but has degraded with age and now is average at best, yet the iphone X was deemed disappointing by youtube reviewers, even though it has 20% less capacity than the s9, but has now improved with age (and the many ongoing updates). That is why I prefer the iphone to the s9, Apple's seemingly continuous 24/7 updates improve the phone over its lifetime whilst updates to the s9 do the opposite. Of course a high proportion of Samsung fans seem to upgrade twice a year so they dont see this degradation, so may not be that important. Samsung have seemingly improved the slowdown of the system with the s9, the s8 sucked, so maybe battery life will get better, or they will simply put in a bigger battery to compete with Huawei? As it stands the s9 doesnt excel on much and battery life, as this video shows, is definitely not bucking that trend!!

U12+ resolution is changed to 1080. It can have more than 45 minutes of endurance.

Huawei with the P20 Pro and also Mate 10 Pro aren't mucking about. On a variety of reviews these phones are at or near the top on every metric. I have P10 Pro and its great phone.

2,716 mAh battery vs 3,000+ and 4,000 mAh battery. If iPhone uses bigger battery capacity, it would definitely the winner.

Watching from a P20 pro 😋 couldn't recommend it more!

Hi, thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy an S9+ and I was wondering did you lower the S9+ resolution as it should save some battery life? It would only be fair to test the battery of each phone on even grounds.

I mean even the phones in last place are no slouches. This is an INTENSIVE test and to get almost 6 hours screen on time is impressive. All of these phones should have no problem making it through a day. Much better than like 2013 when 3 hours of screen on time was good. Perspective is key.

HTC U12+ is fastest here, I prefer fast phone that battery life. HTC for me.

Have you runned the HTC U12+ on default QHD+ resolution or dropped resolution settings to FHD+ to match the resolution of Huawei P20pro and Samsung which has the QHD+ display but runs it on FHD+ instead?

*Don't drop the S9+ is water even if it's not a foot deep. My Galaxy S9+ has gotten it's fuse blown, and the screen started to flicker just a week and a half later. Samsung will reject warranty due to water damage*

I’d still go for HTC U12+ just because an htc before and loved it a lot. I’m with company iPhone 8+ now but I’m definitely getting an HTC U12+ it’s just a good quality phone by android.

No surprise, the battery optimization is great on Huawei phones, and they also beat everyone on fast charging. I just wish they sold the P20 pro in the US with warranty/insurance. I have a Huawei Mate 9 since it's launch in the US.

Why iPhone X was in control centre and not showing the wallpaper (which had full gradient of colour), this might affect the battery test.

The fact that apple makes their own software really shows in tests like these- it has the smallest battery, but still out preforms most of the other phones. The software was built specifically for the hardware, and is incredibly efficient.

I would like to understand why S9 + has lasted many times longer than the Iph X in the other video of yours which is basically the same type of test giving such differences between all ??? Favorable or unfavorable settings give advantages to ones and disadvantages to others.

iPhone's battery life was improved through software updates, so expect that it would perform better in battery every time it receives updates from Apple.

Which phone has better display calrity.?

My first Huawei was the P9, up until I got that I was just a Galaxy person. But I grew up always having a top phone. Most expensive ever was the Full Metal Jacket Nokia 8800, that thing was £999, and it literally was rubbish. But I kinda figured the P20 would have been up the top some where.

Could you do a full charge time test for all these phones please?

I got an iPhone X for 8 months and it is still a GREAT phone! Battery Life at the moment is amazing! Xd

The problem with setting phones that have a QHD+ display to FHD+ is that the display is still using every pixel it is just a 1080p image upscalled to QHD. Yes tge GPU is rendering a 1080p image but it is still outputing on a QHD display

iPhone X with the smallest battery of the lot and it still beat the S9+ and maintains consistent second place. That's a feat of engineering.

iPhone X is impressive. Despite having a battery with the lowest mAh it still can keep up with every smartphone. It would be even better if it would have a 3000+ mAh battery

A problem the OnePlus 6 is having is the latest update 5.1.8 has a big battery drain problem as admitted by OnePlus. A fix is due very soon.

And the winner is the phone you used as the timer lol

Where is explanation about p20's cpu? It's not so power as Qualcomm 845

how is the iphone not last? I can't say if this test is convincing in comparison with real life experiences..

All battery test have different results. One Plus 6 in some videos manage more than 8 hours, also S7 Edge about 7 and half hours. S9 seems like it can manage to 6 hours in your video. Also phones are not on full brightness. Really confusing.

How is the iPhone X second best when almost all reviews deemed it mediocre at best.

Please do on with the LG G7, moto z3 play, moto g6 Plus, zenfone 5, mate 10, mate 10 pro

I really don't like to say this.. but good job Apple for that battery optimisation.. and for the Huawei as well, which in my opinion is getting better and better every year!

Remember, IPhone X has got really nice battery optimization on iOS 11.4 that’s why in the last comparison the iPhone it’s getting better results

I hope HTC if they can learn from huawi and how how to make a good battery in future. The weak point about HTC is bad batteries and that why HTC is going out from the mobile market.
