I can charge mine up the night before, leave it unplugged for the night, use it for work the following day (emails, browsing, instant messaging) and 24 hours after it's initial charge I've got 40% left, enough to leave it overnight and get me through my work day the following day. It's a beast.

Temperature plays a huge part in battery life. I'm in UAE. Sitting inside AC chilled rooms, latest smartphones can deliver pretty much all day battery life. But out there, when it's out ... basically, whenever temp is >40C (usually it's much more in Middle East around this time), the battery just drains like a mofo. My OP3 drains it's battery with extremely heated body, in just 3 hours when i'm outside. And it's not just my phone. Other phones do the same when exposed to high temps.

note 9 at 34%: ah feels good currently iphone x at 8%: *dying inside*

Note 9 battery drops only 1 percent every 23 minutes of playing music through bluetooth even with antutu running in background. That is amazing.

Even the Samsung note 9 has fast charging for the s-pen. But apple still provides slow charger in box.

I love the Note 9 and it's a badass device, HOWEVER it's just too big for my preferences. I like having a device that I can handle and use with one hand. Especially if the other hand is performing other tasks like holding a drink or writing. I hope the Galaxy S10 is going to be a powerhouse that is small enough for one handed use....

The only thing i didnt like about my note 8 is the battery life. Looks like you use only for calling and lil bit of texting cz as for even average user i dn't think note 8 battery is good. And for heavy use it will die within 3 -4 hrs or less.

If I let my phone die until it reaches 0%, it can get up to 5hrs 30mins of screen on time, or more. Maybe because I'm using an Exynos variant that is also rooted 🤔

I've always wondered if video like these took into account the charge cycles and if it was fair between each phone, thanks for pointing this out, and great video! I was wondering about buying the S9+ over the note 9 since I prefer the rounded desing but maaan the note 9 is a beast, and considering battery life and cycles is my first reason to switch phones since it always "dies" after 2 years, having a rock solid battery like this might be good for a long term use. But meh, S10 is coming, and I don't want to regret XD

note-4000 321 12.46 s9+-3500 268 13.06 iphone-2716 256 10.6 huawei-4000 286 13.99 oneplus-3300 271 12.18 the numbers on the right side are the mAh used per minute, the lower the number, the more efficient the battery and phone. what this shows at face value is that the iphone seems to be the most efficient, which is to be expected since apple only makes chips/software/everything for one specific phone. however, when compared to the screen sizes (resolution has negligible effects on battery life) the larger android phones are able to close the gap in terms of efficiency. overall, choose whatever phone you want, im staying with a note 9

We really went from 4 hrs to 10+ hours in 4 years.... Noice. I currently use OP6 and I remember it used to give a very good battery life 4 years ago. I revisited this video and am surprised that it was only slightly more than 4 hours in the test while current iphones give more than 10hours

My guess is that the iPhone would actually stand out as being pretty strong because the P20 Pro has significantly more battery life (4amp hours compared to 2.7) but only lasted 30 mins longer in 4/5 hour long test Also I think the final sub 10% battery stretch is more of a software thing because if the phone powers down with small amount of charge then minor system-level things can continue to run. I know my desktop has a little disposable battery to keep track of the time & whatnot when it’s plugged out.

That is completely irrelevant to this test. This wasn't testing cost per amp etc. This was a pure battery drain test. Because Apple put a small battery in no matter what optimizations are put in, has poor battery life. I had the same experience in my iPhone X the past several months. Almost a week with my Note 9 now is like night and day. I can go a full day easily with heavy usually. The iPhone I'd usually have to pop the charger in in the early afternoon.

IPHONE has no fucking battery consuming app like Google service.

I noticed this also on my oneplus 6, the first 10% of battery leave very quickly but the last 20 can last a very long time. It can be seen at 5:06, the oneplus is last but it manages to finish 3rd. Btw the note 9 is very impressive! great video!

I think Android pie will improve the battery life and the note 9 and the S9 plus

TessellatedGuy it's not acceptable. 0.4 inch bigger screen, but the Samsung also has a 3500 mAh battery compared to iPhone X's 2700. You're telling me that it's ok to only get 12 more minutes? It will be interesting to see how the new iPhones will do compared to these and maybe the S9 will fare better when it gets Android 9.

There's one fact I forgot to mention, the number of actual pixels that light up do matter, and since the S9 has a way higher screen resolution, the screen takes more power. The resolution the S9 is running at doesn't matter, since those extra pixels are always lit up, even if the internal resolution is lower. It's called downsampling. It doesn't save power, only makes games and UI easier on the GPU. Also, the S9's screen is brighter as well, which also will take up more power. Combine that with a much larger screen, it will obviously not be that much better than an iPhone X. Anyways, the fact is, the S9+ is cheaper than the iPhone X, and beats it at raw screen on time, but even if it lost to the iPhone X to the same degree, it would still have a much better screen, a headphone jack, micro sd card slot, and actual customization, which a sane person would take over a boring ass iPhone any day, if they knew about it.

um, It was released back in March 2016, it was very popular back then. Karim Sumar 12 hrs on the note 9 I'd say 5%-20% depends on how you use it. I wouldn't really think it would matter that much though considering it has fast charging as well

I'm really impressed with the results of the Note 9.. I can hardly wait to see the S10 when it comes out.. I've been with iPhone since iPhone 4, but last year when the iPhone X came out, I sold it 2 months later... Decided I could use the money on something better like more insulation in my house attic.. I've been watching the supposedly leaks of the S10 for a few months now, and if Samsung has a almost all screen view area. I'll most likely buy it if they don't do like Apple and raise the cost up to something extreme..
