I won an auction on eBay for a 128 GB Note 9 for $50!!! Such a steal, works just as good as my former Note 20 Ultra (cracked the screen). Main difference is it doesn't have 5G which is completely fine. I used to own a Note 8 (loved that phone), this note 9 looks so much like it.

What do y'all think about the Note 9 vs the Note 10? I'm having battery issues with my Note 9 (would like more storage) but other than that nothing is honestly wrong with this phone lolol....I'm not tech hungry for the next NEW thing if the old thing still works. Any replies are greatly appreciated. Where are y'all getting your replacement batteries from...I def have a hair dryer and some makeshift prying tools lol.

Great video. Instead of using heat to remove the battery adhesive, you can simply put a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol in the bottom corners and the top left corner of the battery container, tilt the phone around so the alcohol reaches most of the adhesive, wait 5 minutes and pry to remove the battery. This way, you have less chance of ruining your screen.

Work flawless for me. Thank you very much. I just replaced a tired original 2018 battery of my Note9. The most critical part is the heating... it really requires about 1 min plus with the heat gun moving around the corners to do it magic. Hot to touch, the curved arounds and trying to pull the back at the same time is really a challenge until you start hearing the glue "melting"... if the pry then you slowly move it in between the back and the corners and the glue starts breaking very slowly. After that it was a breeze!!! Thank you again!!!!

Don't buy "genuine" battery for a Note 9. Samsung stopped making these in 2019, so a genuine Battery is already 3 years old, or a cheap chinese fake battery. Get a known aftermarket Battery. Had this with my Note 4 (now Note 9 owner and 3 guesses why i am here). After 3 Years i bought a "genuine Samsung" Battery. Started to die after 8 Month, then i got an Anker Battery for it and it was still running well 2 years later when the Note 4 died.

Thanks so much for this video, massive help! Battery swelled up...again, the 2nd time in 15-16 months from one of those Cell Phone FixIt shops, I wasn't about to drop another 50+ bucks on that again and just tackle it on my own. Everything was perfect in this video! I guess swelling made it easy to remove the back since the bottom, side was developing a gap already. No issues removing the swollen battery, placing in the new one. The ONLY aggravation I personally had was reconnecting the finger print scanner cable. I did not have the room like you had at 6:19. I have fat stubby fingers...so I'm sure that didn't help. 😆 Anyway...new battery is charging now, hopefully it's a decent battery...we'll see! But I thank you again for this tutorial! Have a great summer.

Could you provide a link to get one like in your video? 2- After replacing the battery, will the Note 9 loose the IP68 Rating, right? How and what can I do to keep it at the highest water & dust resistance possible level as before? Will the glue at edges glue again the rear cover just that easy? Please take into account that I'm very careful, but I don't work on phone service professionally, nor have professional equipment. Thank you very much once again!

Thanks for the very educational video. I kust replace the battery of my wife's Note 9. However, the back cover adhesive sticker could not be reused like you said, but had to be replaced. Maybe notify your viewers that it is best to order a battery sticker replacement and a back cover sticker replacement. Replacement of the stickers is fairly easy, though it might require some elbow grease to completely remove the old sticker from the cover.

Good point. But I actually managed to reuse my back cover stickers. I guess all those years of fixing iPhone 4s paid off. I called it my fleet of Frankenphones. =)

I tried to do this and the problem that I ran into is that the back was not separating from the battery no matter how long I heated it. I think my suction cup was too small and wouldn't stay stuck. I am not sure if it is the adhesive that is too strong or the suction cup that is poor.

If one needed new adhesive for the back of the phone, where could one get it ? I am now in need of a new battery for my Note 9.

  • @Mattjh1969

I tried 3X to heat up the back with a heat gun and no matter how much I tried lifting with the suction cup, I couldn't get it to open like he showed. The cover was extremely hot and I HAD to use a glove to keep from burning myself. After the 3rd time with no success getting the back to crack open like he showed, I said forget it cause I didn't want to destroy my phone from over heating it before I had another new phone to replace it. I'm not sure if they changed to a stronger glue on mine, but there was no way it was opening as easily as he showed in the video! Fortunately it still worked after it cooled down. Any suggestions?

I've seen online some extra capacity batteries for the note 9 are they safe? I have changed my battery in November but now the capacity is at 85% and it's discharging much faster. To make it worse now with the pandemic I charge my phone 2 times a day even 3 sometimes

@@namnta its hard to say. But the app said 2900 mA. It really depends on how much is going on in the phone. But I still have to charge it a few times per day. But now when I changed the battery I don't care about it much. I charge it to 100%. It was about 20 to 30 usd so if it just last a year I am fine with that.

Well I just replaced my battery and thank you Serg! Didn't have to use anymore adhesive. The back went on again very tight as the adhesive was still warm. Had to use a heat gun on the back for 2- 3 minutes always keep moving... That was the Hard part getting the back off. Be Careful not to lose any screws - they are small and hard to find when youd drop them, like I did. We'll see how the charge holds as my old battery had to charge every day...
