    I think its a tough heat to score because none of the waves were great and they were both struggling to lay down big turns, but yeah those two turns for the 6.9 didn't even have that much in them, a point better than Gabs 5.8? Probably. You know if watch both JJ's waves a couple of times they are very similar, except the 7 has the vert float in the middle which arguably doesn't add much, so maybe they aren't far apart.

    Exactly, they want John in the final five. He has been getting way overscored and his competitors completely underscored. The commentry is so bias at the moment as if they have someone in their earpiece telling them to hype up certain surfers waves and underplay others. Shame WSL

    Transparency is required in surfing judgment. How in the God's name they keep on going hiding the judges names behind a small flag on screen? Why don't they simply release their names so we can stablished a pattern in their scores and evaluate the job done. That's essencial for the sport. Without it all the fan has the right to raised up their voices against an entity that is pretty much avoiding been held accountable by their own public. And that is just a fair begining. They need been under surveillance with cameras and their audio in the booth should be recorded. The more transparency they delivered, much less fans will be complaining. And the athletes are the ones who will benefit from that the most. They are the ones affected in first. Their mental , all the struggle and even their families. We should never forget we are dealing with lives.

    Properly scored, correct outcome. Medina received the highest score of the heat 7.83, nearly 1 point higher than JJF wave which featured a lightning fast gouge in vertical section of the wave, plus a vertical, critical finish and was flying the entire wave - SPEED. JJF last wave featured the BEST TURN OF THE HEAT and a critical, vertical finish and again tons of SPEED. Watch that first turn in slow motion. JJF was not just snapping in the lip, he's flying up to the lip (the steepest part of the wave) and obliterating it. No one in the world is doing these types of turns.

    I think they should judge it equal, cause some tourstops have left or right waves. So goofys and regulars surf booth handsides and also they are pro's they are considered to surf both sides equally good. But that said I wish Medina won this time cause he's is down in the rankings and John not.

    How was Pittar's one turn wave worth two points more than JJF's one turn wave? WSL, if you want us to watch, it's a bare minimum requirement that we should be able to understand the scoring. Two heats in the same round in similar conditions can't have wildly different criteria.

The wave with 3 maneuvers received the 7 points, (include that the last maneuver JJ had to run to get the wave junction), so the wave with 2 maneuvers should receive a maximum of 6.5 points. Clearly, it is important that this year the world title goes to another flag. They are afraid, they don't want Medina in Trestles in the top 5, and slowly, the doubtful results will continue until they take him out of the game. And the head judge is from Brazil, oh WSL, how smart you are, it's the perfect plan!

  • @Luizgraton
    @Luizgraton28 күн бұрын

    The worst thing about the tour has been that the most part of the events have happened far away from good wave conditions. This have made the judging get more weight than the waves. And the criterias used are questionable, to say the least. For me, it makes all the competition weird. I've seen some people say that Medina's 5 movements wave was overscored because there was no variety, but I remember some 10 points rides and a lot of excellent scores on previous events, specially at Margaret River, where there was a lot o repetition of the same movements. The reason was that, despite variation of movements wasn't nice, sometimes the best thing you can do on a wave is to repeat the most difficult movement, attacking the critical part of the wave with the biggest pressure u can apply. For me that was the thing.. JJ wave had 1 good movement. The second one was a finishing at the foam junction. Didn't seem anything special. But, again, no wave was a good material and those waves really didn't deserve a score over 6. None of them, from both Medina's and JJ. It's has been more a show of weird scoring than a surfing show recently...

I think John's 6.9 was close to his 7 cuz his second turn was better, he kicked his tail higher and disengaged his fins and the 3rd turn on his 7 was basic. Medina was fairly scored on his 7.8, lots of turns but not a big wave
