From what I've gathered so far ... it was dark - lots of cop cars with their blinding lights flashing - cops and volunteers directing traffic - and let's admit it for those like me who have experienced when cops instructions are confusing - sometimes even contradictory when multiple cops are barking multiple instructions - and to unnecessarily compound the chaos to a ridiculous level of grabbing hold of a moving vehicle and not letting go. That idiotic he-man athletic move destined the situation to a bad ending regardless.

I hope not. I hope that cop is never in a position of power that he can abuse ever again. I had a cop like that. Teflon cop finally fired almost a decade after I reported him for abuse of power with the squad car. He got arrested because he was drunk. He hit a car and he kept going. finally, he flashed his badge and was not let off the hook. He was fired! this corrupt, dirty cop from the 1st Precinct in Manhattan should never have passed a psych evaluation or even been hired in my opinion. i'm glad this cop did not injure a top golfer and this guy seems really humble, Scottie. The NYPD broke a leg bone of an NBA star Thabo Sefolosha. The evil corrupt Manhattan DA offered him a pre-deal and he decided he would go to court and he won. The case was dismissed and the Swedish citizen who would be booted from the country cried.

Scotty is a good guy and my guess is the officer had been up all night and two folks merged for a moment and things just went zero to 100 in a second. It will be interesting if the charges are either thrown out or dropped. No one is above the law. And my guess is Scottie would be the first to admit that.

@alanfinn77 fo you know how many police officers are actually working every hour, every day?? At any hour in the US they are nearly 192,000 officers on duty. If they have an average of 10 interactions per shift. That's 1.9 million interactions per shift. That's nearly 4,000 every second. I think you're watching the media too much and not thinking about reality. The one thing I can be assured of, if Sheff felt like he did something wrong or if when presented with the evidence, he thinks he did something wrong, he will plead guilty and apologize. And same for the officer. But if all cops over reacted (it by no means an easy job) our society would've already crumbled many years ago. Until you know the real facts, I wouldn't assume anything. Just say'n.

The Louisville police won't learn from this. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of accounts of their tyrannical behavior on the internet. Their culture is the problem, and it pervades the organization from top to bottom. They see every citizen as a potential terrorist, and have zero regard for anyone's rights. It's a shame Scottie won't sue them, but retaliation isn't his specialty (unlike the Louisville cops).

To me, it sounds like, that he tried to get out of traffic and do what he wanted to do because he is a Golfer, “the number 1 in the World” He didn’t listen to the “Police Officer” because he thought it was an “Security Guard ( You are nobody attitude, Do you know who I am”. Scottie mentioned he thought he was a Security Guard because of the yellow jacket he had on. So he gave the guard less respect and tried to do what he wanted to do because who he is. Power and Control. He was a little cocky to me on the press conference. Witnesses seem like they on Scotties Side because He Is “The Worlds Number 1 Golfer” , “ The Number 1 Golfer in the World” As he can do any wrong. The Policer should have had on his body camera.

@@innovativeprogramschool7979 he did stop! The cop jumped on his car. He stopped within seconds. Do you stop right away when a deer hits your car? No. Within seconds you stop though. You can't just stop at that second. It takes 10 yards worth of seconds which is probably 3 seconds. I am just upset the cop is bitching about injuries that HE caused- not scheffler. Over zealous
