G20 4.3l v6 - Transmission Swap - [ 4L60E ] Swap - Van life

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

As the van turns towards its 200k mile birthday the transmission failed. Van lifer's Greatest Nightmare Come True. That's what I get for climbing all of those mountains in Colorado! That was not a part of the plan. I've got a world to explore! A new van life adventure to make!
At first I was looking at dropping the trans for a complete transmission rebuild. Then a deal I couldn't pass up came my way. A freshly rebuilt 1995 Chevy Camero 4L60e transmission popped up for sale online. As my vehicle falls into a strange transition time in automotive manufacturing, I needed a very specific transmission. The deal seemed too good to be true. Like a destiny sandwich that smelled too good. I knew at this point a transmission flush (or any additive) was not going to save me. I took the deal on the transmission.
At the beginning of the video my clutches failed and I couldn't pull out of second gear. The stock transmission was dead. The video shows how I remove the automatic transmission from the driveshaft, remove exhaust, the electronics, and the cooling lines, then my friend and I jack up the trans to swap out the new transmission that I bought in a back alley. Keep you fingers crossed as we swap in the new mystery transmission!
As this is my first van life video I'll explain that I've had the van for several years at this point. Living in it on and off again. Hold out for more van tutorials, tour and build videos. As I'd like to make some more van life videos in the future. Maybe something on the conversion process. Don't worry, there will still be art videos in the future.
For now I hope you are all doing great out there in this strange new world.

Michael. Good to see this. El Jefe Negro my 1989 Mexican imported Chevy Van 2.0 K6 flattop and mobile office, is now standing here next to the house with a worn out 4 speed Transmission and I yet donnot know what to do. I know I can put a "cheap" second hand 3 speed just to let her roll again. But also the engine itself which is only working on LPG by the way, has its problems (worn shell bearings/ eating oil?). This can take another couple of years or stops next week says my old Chevy specialist. And to replace the whole line means I have to look out for a rich girlfriend. Grandpa Tom

I've gotta wonder... Maybe I missed it... Did you determine what was wrong with the old tranny? The drive shaft should have been making noise and causing issues

The clutch pack for 3rd gear melted on a bridge and It wouldn't go past second. It had been slipping out of gear for a bit beforehand.

Si, muy siento. At the time I couldn't find a clear answer. Plus I knew it already had some in it. There was probably 6 quarts in it previously.
