A transmission swap out in the driveway with basic tools is amazing. Great job ! Imagine what you could do working in a real repair shop. The world needs more people like you. Thanks for the educational vdo.

thanks for the vid. Ive got an '82 vandura with a turbo 350. leaking out of the torque converter cover. I figure its the pump seal. Ive never taken out a transmission before but youve convinced me its possible. Im thinking of finding a used one to swap in while i get the other repaired and /or rebuiltm just not sure its worth the 2500 cost. do you think a rebuild is doable at home? also...do you think ramps would give enough clearance to pull the transmission out from under the van?>.

Hey thanks for watching, ramps a big help for sure..a home rebuild is a big job , a used one would be most cost affective of course..under 500$ around here , good luck with your van big guy !

My 2008 Chevy express 2500 well the transmission went up. I’m searching for a rebuild one but mine is the more expensive heavy duty model. With Christmas around the corner I gotta wait then try and find money. I found one place that would replace and warranty for 3 years unlimited mileage $3500 . I think that is the way to go. I just don’t have the place to do it myself unless I get a serious deal. I want a warranty since I plan on traveling across the country. I don’t wanna go with a junkyard guess work. Especially since vans are hard to work on. My engine and transmission were rebuilt but the owner said the transmission always leaked. I got the van with 46,000 on the new engine for $1500. My wife thinks I got taken. It’s impossible to explain something to someone that doesn’t have a concept of value.

I just had mine rebuilt and it was 2600$ canadien thats no install ,since I'm doing an LS swap I want something reliable ..not cheap but as you says you can put a price on reliability !! Cheers man ,good luck 👍

Just out of curiosity, does that transmission have overdrive and what model was it?

700r4 transmission has overdrive and bolts right up ,th 350 is 3 speed ..it's the older version of the 700r4
