Short answer, Funko has been lying about piece counts from the very beginning. They were caught when they dumped millions of pops into the trash, along with thousands of pops found in warehouses for "limited" or counted pops.

Should’ve made the online boxes normal versions of their metallic/glow counterparts. Idk why this is all of the sudden an issue with the company it’s like they’ve forgotten how to be a collectible company!

they spend a lot of money to go to this event and still get the experience. There were still funkos you could ONLY get t the con. The majority of the people that are triggered by this are flippers they are just mad they they canT make this months rent because they are going t take a tiny bit of a loss on the funkos they bought at SDCC. I mean if this is just for your collection and you have no intentions of selling then then what does it matter? SMH

Their entire sales tactic has been manufacturing different stickers to make the same pops appear different and create value that isn't really there. Con/shared, store exclusive/special edition. They took it to the next level with this move but it's always been their game. Same dam pops just different boxes and stickers. Their statement for this is basically "we didn't know, hope you guys still had fun at the convention tho"

In my opinion. Funko may be doing this to discourage people who just buy the boxes at the convention just to sell the items inside of them for 10x the price. Also I think it is fair for the people who couldn’t go to the convention to have a shot at getting a rare figure. On the other hand though it is kind of a dick move for Funko since people who go to the convention would expect that they would get exclusive figures. Idk though, this is confusing. But I have a feeling Funko fucked up.

You had to know this was coming. When people buy things based on special conditions, such as stickers with piece counts on them, the company producing said collectible is then motivated to make more of them to maximize their profit.

I thought people cared about stickers? Good for Funko making the sticker collectors and flippers who sell the same pops for 100-200 more bucks cause a sticker is different look stupid now love seeing how mad they are 🤣😂

Agreed. Everyone only cares about the sticker anyways. Gives everyone the opportunity to get a awesome pop. Alot go to these cons to flip. Good move funko. Now regular collectors can go to the con. Come on 3k for a $15 pop on a flip. Good for them selling it a 3k but as I said, flipper. I want to go next year but all those people like sardines. So in the end I think keep em coming funko.

Agree with you both I’ve yet to hear anyone who attended event complaining because they were selling those Freddy’s live from tables and hotel room whatnot auctions during and after show I’m not gonna feel sorry for someone with 5 boxes of fun and 15 Freddy’s making 2 to 3 gz on a sticker pop my advise collect what you love both con shared sticker customs etc and enjoy the art I put more value on my customs from dope artist then I do on the Freddy’s but I still enjoy it all

im starting to understand exactly why he stepped dad right before this con. i would bet my collection they came to him with this information of what they were about to do. He knew this was gonna be a horrible idea. He knew they were about to try and scam thousands and thousands of people and he got out as fast as he possibly could.

I’m sure in Funko’s mind they are going to come out and say something like, we did this to make it fair to those who can’t travel long distances, or have the money to travel long distances to SDCC and Fundays. They may even think by doing this they can start getting people who are getting tickets to this event only to resell to stop buying tickets. The problem is that you know when you are able to get tickets and go to that event that you’re going to get special pops that no one else is going to ever get. This year has now destroyed that. I would not be surprised if they continue this trend to try to make it “fair”. Of course it could mean that the craziness of people fighting to get tickets to that event might go down if this trend continues next year. Funko just isn’t the same company they used to be and I think we need to realize they never will be again.

All they had to do was make the boxes different even if it means the same characters for both boxes just make them different variants… then ppl who couldnt go to con or make it into the event would still have a chance to get the same characters just a little different… funko laziness at its finest…. But they get a pass as always and there’s a large crowd of ppl that will defend this bs

​@kievany a way they can fix it is by selling the tickets to the event at the event instead of before the event as that'll fix the bot sellers that buy the tickets to resale the tickets at a higher price.

The only thing that made me smile about this news are the people who wasted so much money trying to flip this pops hopefully they sit and no one pay for there ridicules price

I totally agree. They really screwed up. I paid $850 for a metallic captain America 250pc. If I would have known about this I would have never bought this. So I guess I screwed up too.

Look up 'Funko Pop Banana Splits Fleegle 2018 4000' - 4000 piece on summer convention shared, 4000 piece on con exclusive - its happened before and Funatics in a sticker frenzy did this to themselves when so much value is placed on a sticker.

The Funko Pop should be different between the Fun Day boxes and the Box of Fun. If not, why should we spend a lot of money attending these event than buying online. Great video.

This is just causing major trust issues with the company, I wonder who's idea was it do something like this. Not only did they not have protos for this event, but the fact that it's the same pops is insane.

I was at the end of the line and they were pulling boxes out of nowhere. They were running out of stuff and didn't properly prepare for having too many people in one mascots line. People were jumping into whatever line had boxes left at the end. Also, in my box, I got one of the metallic Megatrons. It makes me wonder if pops got stickered at the event due to them running low and throwing boxes together, then the at home boxes that got purchased and shipped before the Fundays event had the other stickered pops.

They have done this with the Pop and Bag con releases like Zero from NBC and She-ra, both have limited piece counts with different stickers. They've never said if it's total across both stickers or if it's that count per sticker either.

They have said. They have a blog that states the number reflects the TOTAL AMOUNT MADE and the sticker variation reflects the point of purchase. IE a shared sticker or a con sticker for the bag/pop combos, with and le of 1,000 means 1,000 TOTAL were made and the shared/con sticker just reflects where it was sold, but there’s only a total of 1,000 combined.

@@DrApplesauce I found the blog post you're talking about, but language like "though all were limited-edition and piece count restricted" and "Pop! and bag bundles are now all limited to a specific piece count" makes it seem like they could have been per sticker, but going forward they will be for the total release.

Hey doc. Long time viewer, first time commenting. Have to thank you for the insightful videos for Funko and Pokémon. Lean more towards Funko myself. this fudge-up of theirs seems to be a growing trend of Funko losing sight of what made Funko fun. Kinda strange they they waited until the day of fundays to sell the at home boxes. They are trying to claim it was an error but It kinda seems like they knew it wouldn’t go over well.

It is a different sticker and the actual con version is gonna demand a higher value no matter what I still think and wish they didn't do it that way

An easy fix for a lot of these pops was just to make in person Diamond/glow/flocked/metallic and then just not do that for the online box.. that’s still pretty lazy but a shade better!

At least I can get some of the pops I wanted that I couldn’t previously get, since I didn’t go to fundays.

whats the difference between selling the con stickered pop to the shared stickered pop? Its the same pop, SAME pop, but with a different sticker and people are OK with this? It all comes down to reselling, people feel hard done by, but as i said con stickered cost more so value of the event pop will also. There are still so many we've not seen in the home box, the full flow anakin, the 2 different versions of vison, people at the event still got some cool stuff and had fun. Piece counts have always been funny, take sodas, there are international versions and US versions. May be piece counts for the event and at home boxes? Funko doesn't clarify these things

Haven’t they done this same thing before with shared and convention stickers for funko sodas? I know I have some limited piece sodas with convention and shared stickers that have the same piece counts.

Well with the peacemaker Freddy they did make air different tho. The 5,000 pc at home box was just a regular Freddy Funko peacemaker. And the 250 pc at SDCC was metallic Freddy as peacemaker. I have both. Great pieces.

Funko is definitely playing in our faces with this. My BOF should arrive either today or tomorrow so I'll see what I get.

Personally as someone who wasn’t able to get tickets (not for the lack of trying) for Fundays, I like the idea of getting in person pops. I think they should keep the molds but the metallic or glow should’ve been in person and non version for home. I’d love a Freddy as Cap or Wolverine

I think that’s why they never revealed any leaks on the pops in the online box, I felt it was risky not knowing the possible hits before I bought it. Now I know why they stalled so attendees would not be upset and cancel their trips. Best believe that’s a possibility.

FUNKO SCREWED UP Big Time for Customers during Fundays and at Home Boxes. They need to make this up and fix their error.

Odds are funko are trying something different this year by just having a specific sticker for each version. The only question is if there is 250 stickers of the event sticker and if the other sticker is available as it says.

Y’all are too much. Unless you’re trying to resell this shouldn’t be a problem, if anything the ones at the con were fewer pieces which means people are going to be hunting harder for them. Everything nowadays is always just a resell. Have fun with funko and get what you want and stop complaining. The whole point is get the things you’re a fan of. No reason to get bent over a toy.

You’re allowed to care about things being rare, without being a reseller.

I think the Funko community as a whole needs to stop just buying anything and everything even when Funko is lazy and then Funko might actually start to put some effort in. Still I’ve lost a lot of trust in Funko. I already have been losing faith in their company because they’re mass producing pops like crazy and many pops are losing value. I think last year was the beginning of the end for Funko.

I will also add that i don't have sympathy for the people who went to Fundays, because ultimately you should be paying to go for the experience, just like a concert, rather than just going for the free shit that they can resell. And based on what ive heard, a majority of the people there were just resellers.

The box is part of the ticket fee you pay.

Puts in question every single limited count pop from 2020 until now. Like how do we really know?? There is no certification on piece count except their word and a sticker and look where that gets you. I lost trust since the NFT at buckeye sale. Funko just got busted in the worse way and I just do not believe in their numbers anymore and neither should you.

Fun days for everyone!!!!! I love it, they all had a plus 1 at the event so it's really like your paying 125 a ticket

live in Australia we cant buy the box funday which is sad so have Pay $514 for box funday from online store in Australia

As much as Funko F'd up, IMO, this is the best collective group of Freddy's released. In addition to the F ups you mentioned, I noticed that more Diamond Collection Freddy Waldos were produced than regular Freddy Waldos (5000 vs 850) and more Flocked Freddy Shaggy's were produced than regular Freddy Shaggy's (4500 vs 4000). It would make sense to make the special edition more limited than the regular version.

Funko is heavily in debt, so now limited means stickers not piece count lol

Also someone selling a version with no sticker technically now has a version worth at least 25percent less then the at home box sticker as it's automatically classified as a damaged pop. Basically it's up to the buyer to do their research price wise

I’d be more pissed about spending big on the House of the Dragon NFT’s for Funko to then show a new upcoming release with almost the exact same moulds.

What a shame. The energy from Fundays seemed like a refreshing high, and this news feels like a slap in the face. Unfortunately, I can't say I'm too surprised since this is quite similar to what Funko does with International Edition sodas. It feels deceiving, which is basically the opposite of 'fun'. You would think after 25 years Funko would have learned what it means to stay on-brand and cultivate trust with its customers. Ouch.

This isn’t as bad as your saying. The only difference between the fundays exclusives and comic con pops are that Funko provided a piece count per sticker. Other than that small difference it’s the same as shared/con stickers.

Funko should have two distinctively different boxes for online sales and in person with each limited count. This way, people who go in person will have a special box and the people who can't go get their own unique box.

I think Funko tried to replicate the con/shared sticker thing with Fundays Freddy's, hoping that the Funko community would be too sticker obsessed to care, or that we'd accept it. The issue is too blatant for it to have been a mistake. Ultimately, I think the collecting community got too sticker obsessed, so Funko got lazy and tried to feed off that.

Funko released a statement about the "stickering issue" as they called it. They are investigating it so it sounds like they screwed up or they're stupid enough to think that nobody would notice. Either way they messed up big time

I get that this practice is new to the Freddy Funko line. However, it’s nothing new as a whole. I know you say it’s different, but it is the same thing as a Con sticker vs Shared sticker. Same Pop, same box, just different stickers. It’s the same thing. Sure there’s no number on then Con Stickers, but there’s still a lower run then compared to the Shared version. Seems like the same thing to me, but this year they snuck it in on the Freddy Boxes. I get that it sucks for some people that were able to go and had hopes of getting something more limited, but it’s not really any different that normal. Some people value those stickers at a higher value.

Sure, it’s cool to get a con sticker or something that claims to be exclusive, but not so cool if you have to spend 2-3 times the amount of “shared” sticker. I’ve sold and traded my con stickers, if I can get a good trade up out of it. At this point it’s more surprising when Funko does something Good.

@@Elijahboi745 I do feel bad for the people that FOMO'd in for ungodly amounts of money. So I would get their frustration. As supposedly funko "made an error", so maybe.... Just maybe it wasn't intentional and just poor management. Still sucks for some, but mistakes happen and we all get screwed over from time to time. I tried to order the Wolf or Bear boxes and my Order would never submit. I do think Funko need to step up their QC and Customer Relations and do better, but at this point, it seems awfully common.

What about shaggy 750 blacklight then 4,000 piece in home box or the 4,500piece shaggy flocked

If this is the case then People dont complain about the count when is LOWER than the amount that were distributed yet everyone looses their minds when the count is HIGHER that the ones distributed

I imagine that those in attendance at Fundays are beyond furious. Imagine the amount of money you spend to attend especially those that required plane tickets, hotels, Airbnb’s. Then to find out you could have stayed home saving thousands to get the same as people at home got. Funko needs to address this like yesterday. They can’t ignore this a second longer. Funko will be the next thing on the boycott list, Funko should take a look around and see what happens to companies that blatantly mock their customers and ignore their cry’s. I imagine Funko would suffer severely if collectors boycotted them even for a short period of time.

These attendees go on whatnot every night and sell their stuff to FOMO buyers then the price falls to $30 a pop from $300

So basically paying for a sticker to say, hi i was there versus, i cant go to cons so i have this sticker. Smh.

Either they made an error and they were supposed to be non-metallic or they really just changed the sticker and that's it..

Also everyone got like 8 pops and some sodas when they went to the event

Without Funko Collectors, there is no Funko. And the last few years they have been cutting corners which makes the pop of no value. Same mold been used over and over. They will loose if they keep it up.

I don't understand how this can be a mistake. if it was, fun days pops would be different in some boxes

Maybe they have different stickers because one is how many the were giving out at the event and one is how many they made to send out in the boxes

I was dead when I saw the glams and when I saw they were 250 piece at the event I was bummed but as a true collector that doesn't want to pay ridiculous flipper prices, I think this was a mistake in the direction for the true collectors. People that went to the event 9/10 were just flipping anyways and the 1/10 true collectors would be stoked they got the lower piece count and be happy to be there! Honestly thank you Funko for a bit of a break lol

Only lesson is sell your fundays in person pops asap if you wanna make money 😂

I feel like this could’ve been easily avoided by making the variants the same way they make show only stuff. So like the gelatinous cube glow version was show only, the flocked version lucky cat etc. Diamond Merlin should’ve been show only, glow green ranger, so on so forth. My thing is : when it comes to someone selling a OOB pop of those ones what’s the price range .. and Does Funko list both prices on their app to reflect the pop counts .. I got these sodas both the same .. one from USA and one from Canada.. both the same figure but can and counts are different.. 1 is 5000 1 is 7000 To me that means there is 12000 of them

Isn’t the Genji one different? The Fundays (100 pcs) looks very different to the one in the boxes for home delivery which is 4000 pcs. The colour looks very different on both pops to me
