Fundamentals of Marx: Fixed and Fluid Capital

In this brief video we go over fixed and fluid capital as concepts in Marxist economics. How did Marx define and operationalize these terms? What are the differences between fixed and fluid capital and where do they belong in the process of accumulation?
For more on this topic, see Marx's "Capital: Volume 2" (the primary source for used for the video).

I wish this could be explained in simpler terms, so that the people who don't understand or haven't yet learned marxist theories could better grasp the concepts lined out in the video.

Yeah, sorry about that :/ this is a somewhat intermediate topic, it's difficult to convey without prior exposure (hence why it's lodged deep in Volume 2 of Capital)

Marx never saw a mass consumer society. What happens to the depreciation of durable consumer goods? The NDP equation which economists never mention does not include the depreciation of durable consumer goods. How much has the annual depreciation of automobiles purchased by consumers since Sputnik amounted to? Is consumerism with planned obsolescence really Capitalism?

Hey, Im an idiot here trying to understand marxism. I imagine this video was highly useful but a little over my head. My friend was telling me capital means money but I'm pretty sure that's nonsense. What is capital in Marixism? Someone please explain?

Capital isn’t a Marxist term. It means the same thing in mainstream economics. Its a piece of wealth that’s used to gain more wealth. Money is only capital if it’s being invested. Land, factories, and labor can also be capital, if they are being used as capital.

can you start citing statistics to back up claims regarding marxism

Some of the more contemporary discussions on the channel do cite statistical evidence. But these videos aren't really "claims." They're more internally oriented, in the sense that they are meant to help people studying Marxist texts and ideas to deal with the basic concepts and theoretical developments. In future videos that are dedicated to the empirical investigation of Marxist concepts, statistical evidence is certainly going to be more relevant.
