Ойындар

In this episode, I talk about The Thing Video Game, developed in the year 2002, and how AMAZING the friendly NPCs are. Merry Christmas! Wait, December 26? Shit, I missed Christmas by a couple of minutes. Umm... Happy Unboxing Day for my British viewers!

Admittedly I’ve never played the game, but it looks interesting (don’t know if I’d want to play it or just watch a let’s play). It’s really too bad that we don’t have games like this. I love how the concept art for that Thing 2 game had all these truly horrible abominations (not as scary as the Thing 1/2 from the live action Cat in the Hat movie. I’m well aware that film is awful, but it’s a nostalgic guilty pleasure. I love how the humor is so inconsistent in being directed at kids and adult). I think that the open world game with randomized npcs would have been awesome. Just take that concept and make large chunks of the base be hand crafted with lots of little bits of environmental storytelling. And have the in between connector points, additional generated rooms based on presets, and where everything’s positioned be randomized. The enemies would also have some degree of produral generation where they can grow all kinds of different growths. These would be various things that require you to use different weapons. You’d have stuff like extra eyes that increase their perception (use smoke grenades/flashbangs to momentarily stun them), clawed/bladed limbs for slashing (would devistate your health), clubs for stunning you and damaging armor, bone/chiton plating that resists bullets, tentacles that extend their reach/give the ability to hold you and your guys in place (sadly there’s sickos into that😂🤮), and other stuff like explosive pustules. Certain forms would have the ability to break apart and form together with others, and they’d all have procedural animations based on their twisted forms. As for expanding the classes the only thing I can think of is adding in a stealth unit that is very fast and only uses light weapons that can be countered by the perception growths (extra eyes, enhanced ear holes, hairs/spines that detect movement, and other stuff like that), and a heavy unit who’s slow but had great armor and weapons. I’m basically just spitballing here, but there’s so much potential stuff that could be done with all kinds of horrible creatures that shapeshift, and can divide/form together at will. Justin Trudeau reference was funny. I know that this doesn’t fill the same niche, but there’s a fan made Flood horror game set in some sort of a Forerunner facility called Branching Sickness. The game is a mix between handcrafted and procedurally generated environments. The various Flood forms are all these truly horrible twisted nightmares (as the Flood should be). They have several different forms, and each plays a role in the sandbox. I’m guessing that weapons/ammo are going to be scarce to fit with survival horror. I really hope that early on in the story they have it play out kind of like the thing where they don’t know who’s infected, and have different people get infected by spores/infection forms. Then the hive’s growth would likely be exponential. From what I’ve seen it looks really cool. No idea when it will be ready though. Speaking of Halo did you see how there’s a Spongebob reference in the form of Squidward’s house in the new Halo show? That is absolutely hilarious! The funniest part is how people are arguing about if it actually is Squidward’s house or not. I knew the show would be bad, but I had no idea they’d deviate so much (I really like Squidward’s house though). They should have just done what the Marvel movies (which range from really good to terrible) did where they loosely adapted the source material with a few changes to better fit the tv format. Good video.

Yeah I am still waiting on a Thing video game. I mean there is so much potential for something like that. I've heard some people say they could make it like Among Us, but I'm not sure about that comparison for reasons. I'm not really familiar with Branching Sickness, but it sounds and looks cool. As for the SpongeBob reference, I was not aware of that. Though I haven't watched the new Halo show because I knew it would be bad. But, I am glad you enjoyed the video. Also, sorry for the late respond, I did read the comment but forgot to say something.

There’s no need to apologize for the late response. I’m definitely guilty of exactly that. It’s a mix of I don’t want to say something stupid (by that I mean in the past I would usually make a suggestion for something to be added into a game that has already been added I just didn’t look long enough at the project, it goes against a rule stated that would mess up the vision, or something that goes against the lore of something. Same thing happens when suggesting someone make a video on something. Or I’ll end up saying something about something that I don’t really know what I’m talking about) so I’ll usually take way too long to finalize what I’m trying to say, and procrastination. Very bad procrastination. Admittedly I haven’t followed the development of Branching Sickness very closely. It’s mostly just looking at what they’ve publicly stated/updates, and occasionally checking it out after having forgotten about it for a long time. I really hope that they make the main story sections mostly linear, and have things open up for the survival sections. If something is purely procedural, or has a large open world it’s a lot harder to tell a coherent narrative because it will end up bouncing all over the place because you found stuff in the wrong order, or be like BOTW where there’s almost no substance because they dumbed it down so you can go in any order you want. I haven’t watched the Halo show for the same reason as you. I knew it would be bad. I’ve mostly just been watching clips from it (that’s how I learned about Squidward’s house), and seeing other people talking about it. Plus, we don’t have Paramount Plus. It’s really too bad that people aren’t really doing anything with The Thing ip. There’s so much potential that sadly hasn’t been tapped. Hopefully someone will come along and make a game or something like that that’s basically The Thing, but with the serial numbers filed off. I agree with you that Amongus doesn’t really count. Especially because it’s mostly cringe😂 (I LOVE that STOP POSTING ABOUT AMONGUS meme. My favorite was where they took that guy, but made it so he was talking about Mordetwi. If you don’t know what that cringe was all about consider yourself lucky). Personally I’d really like to see a game centered around War of the Worlds taking inspiration from all the different adaptations to flesh things out more. Now that would be awesome! Funny thing is Halo Wars 1 was originally going to be exactly that but legally distinct before Microsoft told them they needed to make it Halo. Again, great job on the video.
