Flickability! Exceptional review. Real hands on stuff! Bravo! Huzzah! What’s with all the sand?! No wonder you didn’t want to ride the Thrusty anymore?! But such lovely countryside! Would love to see more! Also, with your frame, can easily see why you went with the scrambler! Sounds amazing! Look after those spokes! Sounds like it was a rushed job because it’s the first launch of the bike.... I found similar issues with the Thruxton as I had bought it as soon as it came out! Thanks for linking me to this video. Awesome. Loved all the sound effects! Witty and apt! Tally Bally Ho!

Captain! :-) "tally-bally HO!"
When you said you were 6'4", I knew I had to listen to the entire vid. Getting a true taller rider perspective truly helps. Thanks and great vid!
It may have the same torque as the Thruxton but it delivers it lower in the rev range and it is lower geared, hence it feels sharper. Also feels quicker off the mark and snappier than the 1200 Speed Twin with a much better throttle body too.

Entertaining review. Looks like a great choice of bike for you :)
Thanks for the video! When will you post what you did to the Arrow Slipons to make them louder?
Great video. I just bought this baby and plan to do a little more off road but agree 100% with initial assessment! Plus, I ride a lot of nice bikes but this one turns heads for sure.
Just bought a house in northern New England and I’ve been searching for an explore bike. Like you I’m not crazy about the chrome and such but i think it’s an awesome bike thanks for the review
Brilliant video sir! Well done. 👍👍😎🏍🇬🇧
Thanks for the good videos about the Scrambler.

Great review! I Scrambled my 2014 SE a bit with better shocks and dual sport Avons, got a better flickability and its perfect for Québec's bad roads, even with some snow. I am not saying that I will ride Triumph till the end of my days but as far as Im going, it looks like it.
Heh that comment on the whole starting method got me. I brought mine home literally today. Couldn't figure out how to start the thing for about 30 seconds. Seems like a brief period, but we're talking about starting a motorcycle here. Great video and review. Edit: To ask a question that might actually pertain to the review. There was something about removing the twin screw baffles in your video. I'm curious what your opinion on that is. The place I bought mine from offered to removed them for me, and I didn't have them do it. It sounds great as is. I'm just curious what made it difficult and if you like the sound better. On mine it looks like just a bit of work with the Dremel tool to get rid of the spot weld and an allen key to remove the fastener.
Great review. Just come from a Triumph dealer and going back tomorrow to try to do a deal on one. Not sure which colour to go for though!
Great review. What do you have to say about the heat coming com the exaust?
Oh god, the beeping when u talked about the T tiger at 7:55 gave me a shock 😂
Really awesome video! Had all the info! Please give an update on the led fog lamps. Looking forward for more content! ✌🏻

Nice review! Would you recommend it for a new rider?
that is a crisp meme edit. subbed
Best review of the Scrambler to date...great stuff!. Good job with coating some of the shiny parts...gives the bike a much more cohesive look. Did you do the rack as well..? Bike sounds great...have you modified the Arrow pipe...?, it sounds louder (in a good way!) than the Arrow I heard here in the UK. The only other mod I think helps is the tinted flyscreen Triumph do...it really tidies up the front. Glad your enjoying your new bike! Cheers, Steve

Yes sir- had to spray out the rack, waaaay to shiny! As far as the Arrows, I took out the db killers. I am posting another vid soon on them. Rock and Roll!
Beautiful bike! That’s my second dream bike, I own my first, Honda Africa. It looks like you’re in Maine judging by the roads! Where bouts are you at?
Haah dude I'm. Doing the same with mine... Blacking out alot off the parts. Good review dude. You'll see one from me soon.
Great review.. I must get one.

You should! DO IT
Thanks for a great review. I want an agile, adventure capable, commute doable, take-me-to-the-end-of-the-universe machine. Obviously, such kit doesn't exist. I've considered the tenere 700, the 850 gs, the 1250 gs, the Africa Twin, the 1190 etc. Thing is, I want beauty, simplicity, honesty, reliability and GRUNT. As of now I ride an 1100 boxer and love its torque. Will the Scramble make me happy? I know its looks will.
I’ve dialed in my suspension front and rear (at the 1,000 mile mark) and all but have completely rid the bike of that gnarly dive. I’m 250lbs and the suspension is butter in the twisties now. At 2k miles, in Sport Mode, gobs of Torque and the suspension dialed...my XE is craaaaazy fun. Best motorcycle I’ve ever owned.

Interesting. One of the things that put me off slightly on my test ride was fork dive on the brakes. I'm 235lbs so good to know you've successfully changed the set up for the more substantial among us.
@oso_nomada

John Smith yeah, that first 1k miles was annoying with the brakes. Fast stops or the occasional unnecessary hard grab made the front end obnoxiously soggy. As far as the Brembo M50 brakes, they are phenomenal...straight up Superbike gear, and work well with the weight and geometry of the XE in all aspects of riding.
Beautiful bike !!!!! I need it
I have the 1200 xca and maybe need to go for the xe live and learn bikes sounds good looks good too
Love the editing!!! LMFA Off !!!
I have the same bike but in green. You have great customizations on yours Im 5, 9 and my heel is about an inch or two off the ground. Do you know if the "low" seat makes a difference?

Right on. I don't know about the low seat, but I heard from a friend it makes a 1.5" difference.
Thanks for the review, been watching a lot of them lately. Yours hits closest to home as I have a 2016 Thruxton r that I absolutely love. But I have issues with my back and my neck as I was run over by a lady in a Lincoln Continental while riding my Ducati 999 in 2008. I live in Florida and do not have to deal with frost heaves and all of the things that you have to deal with in the Northeast, I did live in Maryland for 30 years and I know what you're talkin about. If you did not have any of those things to deal with would you feel the same about trading your Thruxton R for this Scrambler 1200?

The lady that ran me over was in a Hyundai SUV. Texting, Driving, and Speeding. Thanks lady! If no issues with ole body then I still might have kept it, but now that I have the new steed, WOW. So versatile and fun to ride. Like riding a wild horse.
Strong motorcycle. 👍🏼
I think this bike will be my next bike.
Could u share your experience with the heat coming out of that silencers when u r in traffic and while you are on the highway, is it bearable with a riding pants ON.!!!

Very entertaining 😂👍🏻
Looks like Maine by the topography, and your plate, Lol. Did you get it at Paul Blouin’s in Augusta? I’ve bought three Triumphs from them there and thinking about this one next. But I live in Florida now. So National Powersports in NH would be my go to for price and shipping. They are selling these $11,999 out the door free shipping to any continental state.

Wicked decent bub!!! Maine, the way life should be.
Is your engine more noisy after the first service? I've heard a couple people say that I just picked up my 22 triumph scrambler XC and I noticed that there seems to be some mechanical tapping in the top end. That sounds out of the ordinary for me. The dealership told me that this is normal
@BackDraftBikes

Hmmm. Might want a second opinion
When I saw the Royal Enfield I was like, yes, that kind of thing but a little more highway umph.....this might be the exact thing I'm thinking about.
Comparing the suspensions to the Thruxton R the suspensions will feel good indeed (dealer told me how many complaints he had about the Thruxton R suspensions, many going for the standard version to NOT have the Ohlins), but I'm surprised that many feel these XE suspensions are comfortable. Makes me wonder if something is wrong with mine. They feel as harsh as some sport bikes (and I've tried the stock settings, comfortable settings (based on manual specs), even went to a suspensions shop and tried 3-4 settings, and had the sag set along with many other combinations I tried. Still really doesn't feel plush even if at a standstill both forks and shocks feel super soft and compliant, the high speed compression damping seems to be the problem (for me). I'm 200lbs, and when I ride with my gf (120lbs) the suspensions start becoming more compliant...which could also indicate they are oversprung. I filmed my shocks in action here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoNqtq16gM3SddI.html Aside from the suspensions, it's really an amazingly fun bike and the engine is just perfect! Once I get my suspensions sorted, I'll be a very happy owner. Until then, it's not as comfortable as my 2015 Scrambler, Africa Twin, FZ8, FZ9, I even compared with my friends S1000RR HP4, or just about any other bike I've owned...and though at a standstill the XE suspensions feel much softer, when riding, they are both surprisingly similarly harsh. The only place I like the suspensions is on very smooth roads or when I'm standing on the pegs...sitting, there's a harshness to them that simply shoudn't be there in my opinion...on my first ride home from the dealer (100km away) I actually had lower back pain, which I've never experienced on any bike in over 300000km of riding...it was cold and shocks were new, it's improved a bit since, yet, far from what I expected from a naked adventure bike.
What are these sounds and crys in the backround? Don‘t understand it....

Oh yeh nice riding country.
I would really like if they took that white off the other gas tank and just made it green with a brown or black contrast also I would black out or green all that sliver it it was a Chrome that matched with the other chrome would leave it but it’s not so i would have to fix that once I get this bike also i live the look of the arrow exhaust you got normally I’m not a sound guy I like my bikes quiet so I can sneak around if I want to aka pull the bike out when my wife’s taking a nap awhile I go for a ride down the back roads like I did when I was a kid on a 4 wheeler but the sound actually sounds very good on it and the look I’d get that on there as well
Nice bike and review. The sound bites were annoying AF though

Love the review. I'm torn between Tiger 8XCA and this bike. My draw to 800 is the practicality; luggage, windscreen, cruise, heat. But everytime I hear the 1200 twin, it sings to me. My riding style is short shifting and low rpms.
Check out a and j cycles. They sell a cat delete kit.
I want to see a 2020 Tiger 900-19 1200 Scrambler comparo :-)

Don't install the X-Pipe before you run out of warranty... I have the Street Scrambler and started blacking out stuff... The biggest beautification was to ceramic coat the front pipe and catalytic converter... looks really good...

I like this bike. I have seen others complain about some of the parts rattling. Like you said it is an easy fix, but it is sad that Triumph lets it out of the factory like that. I also don't care for the mirrors. I am sure you can see good out of them, but they do look really long.

I think you will be ok, you can adjust the rear springs down a bit. Maybe tip toes at some stops?
BUMPY RIDE ??? i have a brand new XC and the ride bumpy in all roads. newly paved streets included. it’s a 2022 left over, it was kind of dusty from sitting in the showroom, so i’m thinking the tires have taken on a non cylindrical shape that’s causing this bumpy ride. the tire pressures are good. i tweeted the suspension to accommodate my weight. filled the windshield wiper fluid container. vacuumed the carpets. the tires are properly balanced i’m assuming. i haven’t heard of anyone complaining about a bumpy ride with this bike or these metzeler tourance tires so my conclusion is flat spots or the tire or tires are not perfectly round. someone at the dealer said something about the tires being adventure tires could give a somewhat rough ride but nobody that owns this bike on youtube has ever mentioned this, so that’s out. the ride on a dirt bike on a paved road is smith with a natural vibration from the knobbies. get my drift ? have you or anyone you know or has heard of this bumpy ride on this bike with these tires ? i really love this bike and am keeping it because i love it so much, just want to remedy this bumpy ride. cheers !

I AGREE WITH THE STICKER COMMENT! argh the things you see AFTER filming! Thank you for the compliment! These are indeed awesome bikes!
Had me a test ride couple weeks ago, Great bike, perfect for our shitty pot hole ridden UK road's, can't wait for them to become a couple years old, so I can buy one, I don't buy New, too bloddy tight , hate the initial depreciation! Have to make do with me 800 tiger till then, That's a great bike too , but not a fan off its look's This however looks the Muts nuts, Nice review fella.
2000 miles on mine and love it. I wish people would have the break in oil out before they give a "detailed" review. "Prettys" added instead of miles...yawn.

Triumph Seattle... I used to live in NH but I'm out here now... I did the closing video for the Suzuki store and their opening video and a couple of videos there! kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2yXqqStct20oKw.html I increasingly find this bike appealing. I've owned 5 Triples, currently a Tiger 800 (which I've never seen in that grey colour in the video opening -- Oh it was a 1200) and a Duc 1000S Multi for road. But man oh man I could really get down with one of these one day! Such a cool bike especially with the bench seat right. I used to live in Nashua where are you?
You must live somewhere near me. I'm in the Concord area now but have lived all over VT and NH. The area where you are riding looks like the terrain where I spend most of my time. That loose sand on the corners in the spring is a huge hazard around here even on the few roads that seem at first glance to be well-maintained. I'm on a Street Scrambler now from National Powersports/Concord Triumph. Love it, but really have my eye in the 1200 now that it is available. I need a taller bike, particularly for longer rides. I'm 6'2, but have a 34" inseam so I can flat foot the 1200 no problem. Given that we ride very similar terrain, what are your thoughts on the stock Metzeler Tourance tires? Are you planning to stick with them long term? You have much more off road experience than I do, so would appreciate your thoughts.
@BackDraftBikes
5 жыл бұрын
Christopher LeGrand The stock tires seem to be doing ok! But time will tell though...totally love this bike for the junk roads we have. Pull the trigger and get one of these. I have ridden both, no comparison with power and handling (no hate here just really different bikes) I’m in Maine! Let’s ride sometime!😎👍

@@BackDraftBikes Definitely. I know there are people driving Triumphs around here, but I almost never see them on the road. I've been wondering where they all hide out. The SS is my first bike, so the addiction is just getting started. I promised myself (cough my wife cough) that I would hit 10K miles before I trade up. That will probably be later this year. Then it's the 1200 for sure. Your area looks amazing for off-road/dirt road riding. I'm fairly new to my area and while the riding is amazing on the back roads, I'm still looking around here for good class 6 roads or trails that don't dead-end in a swamp, someone's private snowmobile trail, have "no motorized vehicles" signs posted everywhere.

@@BackDraftBikes You still liking the bike after a full season? I'm about to drop cash on one but haven't seen many true long-term reviews (i.e., more than a few hundred miles). I'm putting 5-10k a year in the road and will only have the one bike, so want to know if any issues are showing up with longer use.
It's too nice to ride it off road, very easy to ruin it; I'd go for Honda Africa, Yamaha Super Tenerèe or Aprilia Tuareg for travelling and off road adventures.
U don't understand counter steering.
Still too heavy to handle proper greenlanes
