I was there at the stadium, watching the game. Apart from this R Chauhan's timely six, the most enjoyable and fascinating thing for me was Ganguly's attacking batting. I was sitting behind one of those Shell hoardings and every time Ganguly hit a four, the ball struck the metal sheet hoarding so hard that the sound of the impact was terrific. I still remember that and I thoroughly enjoyed this innings of his.

Yes. Probably not as great as a Rahul Dravid, but he was a wall for sure. The middle order got some much-needed stability with Azar, Jaddu and Roin Singh in the lineup.

I have seen this match live, when i was a kid! When Rajesh hit six, tears came into my eyes with joy!!!

24 years ago it was very difficult for India to beat Pakistan. But before this series India had beaten Pak in Toronto. This match and the Dhaka final match victories gave us immense pleasure. Pak bros always talk about Sharjah six by Miandad but patanahi Rajesh aur Kanitkar ke baat ate to bahana banate hain....

I was in 10th standard.. black and white tv... last over was about to start.. power went off.. I joked with my brother that Rajesh Chauhan would hit six of the first ball.. me and my brother laughed.. after a few minutes.. power came back.. we saw India just needed 2 runs.. and there was a replay of Chauhan's six... again my brother and I laughed 😂😂

remember those days when I was in class 9th , azzar gave captaincy to tendulkar although tendulkar was not comfortable in captaincy he sumhow handled it . mohanty made his debut through this tournament kurvila was a old player from Bombay managed to keep on off in team . but robin Singh did wonders for the team in those days & lastly chauhans six saved this match from loosing . chauhan became a unsung hero in coming years time . love u rajesh chauhan bhai

I was Confused too as an Indian supporter, when seeing Live. But, actually the Keeper removed the Beels without Ball in hand. If the Beels are removed, then the keeper either have to remove the wickets or break the wickets as per New Rules Introduced at that time untill now.

Thanks for posting this. If you observe the ODIs played those days, you will often find Azhar, Ajay Jadeja getting out in quick succession. Match fixers. Even in this one.

There was a huge shift from this moment that you have mentioned onwards. The Miandad Six psychologically messed with us whenever we played Pak in Sharjah for years! 😂😂😂i remember having seen games where Sachin was the only scorer and the rest of our batsmen buckled up! I have even seen games where he scored hundreds and yet we lost! However all that changed only only post this match! And the highlight came only in the 2003 World Cup when Sachin smashed Shoaib over 3rd Man for 6! That ended everything if we remember! The truth was that there was a time India had a very good batting line up but no contributions would happen when Nessesarry. At one time Pakistan had the best bowling attack in the world! They could go through the best batsmens defences. However there were also days when their bowling flopped big time! To say that these matches were memorabe is an Understatement! 👍👍👍

without a helmet facing one of the most fearsome bowling attacks of the time, chauhan destroying saqlain's legacy and exorcising the ghosts of the miandad six. Cementing his legacy along a long line of Rajput Warriors in service of Bharat. You will never be forgotten as long as cricket is alive here

Robin Singh was a great player who played in the wrong era. Had he been 5 years younger, he would've been tremendous in the early 2000s team under Dada. Top fielder, good hitter lower down the order and a reliable change bowler as well.

For some reason, this match wasn't live on DoorDarshan & we didn't had Cable TV in 1997. I remember me & my uncle hearing Live Commentry on Radio. There was so much noise in the stadium & despite that we came to know that six was hit by Rajesh Chauhan !! Amazing feeling it was.. Beating Pak in Pak

Dude, surely dada was special; but consistently Sachin was on the top. Ganguly had his days and probably his seasons, especially canada games- he was special. Year on year basis sachin was always top except an year or two

I MEAN BESIDES ALL HIS SO CALLED RECORDS, NO ONE SPEAKS OF HIM INTENTIONALLY BECAUSE HE IS REGARDED AS TRAITOR WHO SOLD HIS COUNTRY. SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE HIS HANDFUL OF SUPPORTERS ALSO THINK ON SAME LINES FROM INSIDE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A BAD BATSMAN GIVEN SO MANY CHANCES. HAD TECHNICAL DEFICIENCIES IN HIS BATTING. IN THE NED I WOULD SAY HE WAS NO WHERE CLOSE TO SACHIN TENDULKAR. THERE IS A JOKE SOME DAYS BACK ABOUT AZHARUDIN. THEY SAID THAT A BOOKIE OFFERED AZHARUDIN TO UNDERPLAY IN THE MATCH. THE BOOKIE SAID "WHY WILL I PAY HIM TO UNDERPERFORM WHEN HE PLAYS SUCH BADLY" IN THE END I WILL SAY HE PLAYED ATLEAST 8 YRS MORE THAN HE DESERVED.LOL BY THE WAY VIP LUGGAGES ARE ON SALE THESE DAYS. LOL

Saw this live - the whole match and the six and the sound I created when Rajesh Chouhan whopped sabash Saqqi Saqqi out of the ground. What great times. Great upload bro.. This is a classic contest.. Match really steered to pak favour after two brilliant fielding effort which resulted two important runout of azharuddin and kambli.. But India played really nice.. Hats off to sourav ganguly playing brilliantly to the pak pace attack..
