They were match fixers. They ruined the career of many new talents who were match winners including Atul Bedade and Hrishikesh Kanitkar.

250 was a match-winning score on those days, especially against the great excellent Wasim Akram; led bowling was always tricky. Those days we used to switch off the tv once Sachin got out.

Unsung hero Bedade hit the cleanest shot in this match ....out of the park everytime.

Does not matter much that who wins but watching matches in those was a great thing to me. Both teams have great players. Srinath, Anil, tendulkar, jadeja, sidhu and azhar they are great players including many from Pakistan side.

There is one story regarding this match: In this match Wasim Akram hit Tendulkar’s head twice before and after the catch drop. Wasim told this to the team before the match “ i’ll hit Sachin’s head” one of his team member ask “on this pitch wasim bhai ? Ball is not even coming over the knee” Wasim said: I’ll show you.. On this Shahrja pitch in Afternoon with 50C , he bawl-led really quick specially the first spell.

India is the one who is refusing to play against Pakistan because Kohli knows that if India lose against Pakistan, goons of RSS will slaughter him / cut him in pieces. And if Pakistan lose, no problem, all players can move freely in Pakistan. That's the difference between people of Pakistan and India. I still remember Police increased security infront of Dhoni' s house when he lost series against Pakistan in India in 2012.

This was a period when I lost my interest in cricket since my childhood hero Kapil Dev had retired. I was 10 at that time. Then 2 years later came another phenomenon named Shahid Afridi who reignited my interest in cricket. I guess Basit Ali was a serious talent but he retired to support Salim Malik and also this tournament was after Pakistan tour of WI where players revolted against Wasim Akrams captaincy and he was sacked from captainship. I used to get all these updates from my father as I was a kid with only ambition to be next Kapil Dev

This completed the Hat Trick of Australasia Cup trophies for Pakistan .. The first one was memorable because of Miandad last ball 6 .. Pakistan has not found a better opening partnership than Saeed Anwar and Amir Sohail !!

Indians love to lose at that time, 2 big wickets on full tosses and the run out. Pak won all three Austrloasia cups.

One reason why I rate Sachin higher than Virat is the quality of bowlers he faced. Akram, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh, McGrath, Warne, Donald, Pollock, Steyn, Akhtar, Muralitharan and many more. Despite that, such a phenomenal record.

@@kingdomranu Well, who said that he was the only great batsman of 1990s and the first decade of 20th Century? Brian Lara was also a great batsman. The fact remains that Sachin carried the hopes of a billion plus people and always scored runs. Even after playing 200 tests, his average was about 56 and his ODI average was about 45. And, it's obvious that the bowlers of his generation were better than today's generation. Besides, Muralitharan started in 1992, Warne in 1993, McGrath in 1994, Steyn in early 2000s, Donald in 1992. Of what I have seen, Sachin has been better than Kohli.

Sachin and badade batted well. But dnt forget vinod kambli’s efforts .. he batted very well but we cant thats in highlights. He stood there with athul badade with out loosing wickets thats athul got freedom to hit sixes ❤

There was so much fear in Indian batting...pak only had akram , rest mediocre...but our team looked so scared and got out to bad balls.

Aqib javed was the world record holder at that time for most wickets in an ODI match. 7/37 I think it was ... vs India and with a hattrick of 3 LBWs ... so ... the rest mediocre comment doesn't really make sense.

@@lakhaniahmed1982 Aquib javed played 130 odd games and took 140 odd wickets at an average of 30 plus in ODI....he had 2 legends to support him in Wasim and Waqar (in his hey days)..still could not deliver much...he delivered in 2 sharjah games vs India.. 7 for 37 and 5 for 19...flash in the pan performances... apart from that ,he was less than average...

But whenever someone mentions Pak great bowlers of the 90s and omits aqibs name .. someone always points it out. Particularly English and Indian players. They rated him quite highly. Records and stats aren't everything. It's stepping up at the right moment. And with Wasim and waqar ... You as a bowler most likely will not get a lot of wickets

Actually Akram wasn’t in form in this series. The rest of the guys were genuinely good their stats generally suffered because they were in and out of the team most of their careers. These things don’t come across in highlights much (especially when we watch in the current day context) but the Pakistan team really knew how to apply pressure in the middle overs and force the batsmen to make mistakes

Those were the days in Sharjah. Nowadays anywhere in the world Pakistan is India's bunny. Pakistan is no match for India now.

Days when I had no confidence in any bowler except Kumble and some extent Srinath. Rest were so mediocre. Batting revolved around Sachin and Azhar, if they failed India used to lose. Later Jadeja after 96 World Cup became consistent. Azhar guiding the ball to keeper with slip also present, very dubious game.

The most ridiculous thing is, neither of our medium pacers even try to bounce him, try to bowl a few rising balls coming straight towards the face to make him uncomfortable. This shows the lackadaisical and inept approach of the bowlers.

Nostalgia -- listened this match ball by ball on radio as there was no access to TV . It took Srinath 9 overs to realise that he should bowl round the wicket to the left handed batsmen. India batted pathetically-- there was a big hype about Bedade as a big hitter.

Reckless shots played by Sachin, Azhar, Mongia and others. Wickets taken by part timers Malik and Sohail. India should have won the match as they chased 244 vs Aus in the last match to enter into the finals. Azhar and company used to choke against Pak till 1999. Then the new era of cricketers Ganguly, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Dhoni dominated pak cricket.

N still bcoz of your shitty narrow mindset you are unable to see Asian talent. Considering last decade's performance indisputably India is far ahead than its neighboring nations. Check ICC rankings....N just by winning one tournament none of the team become superclass. If you still remember Champions trophy final then try to remember WC 2019 match too.

Even inzamam didn't attempt to put his bat in crease in time. It was game of dice, game of chance, both sides sold, it's the big persons on both sides who benefitted by fixing, players are just pawns in the game
