I remember watching this match live. It was typical Dubai/Sharjah hot Friday afternoon. The first ball by Wasim to Ramesh, the third ball lbw and the fourth ball out to Dravid. Pakistan team during those days was on FIRE. India Pakistan games in Sharjah were always fun to watch. Whether it was Saurav, Dravid, Tendulkar, Azhar batting, Kumble balling or Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib balling and Saeed Anwar and Afridi opening with Inzi in the middle order. As a Pakistan Cricket fan, I have to say India got better with the likes of Sehwag, Yuvraj, Bhajji, Irfan and Zaheer Khan. Ganguly built that team.

@@afzalkhanalig fast forward 22 yrs later..India vs Pakistan head to head 12 vs 1 ... and becuz of toss ..nothing else ..whoever batted first in Dubai in this wc ..ended in disaster..so did Pakistan against Australia and they almost lost the match to Afghanistan on a different venue ... toss saved Pakistan... the Dubai pitch was totally one sided pitch ...was on balanced..so calm down ..winning a match against India once in a decade is like the Ireland team pulling up an upset ..winning a match against Australia once In its life time 🤣 😂 but poor you..what more can you do ..just keep thumping your chest with that one off win ..cuz who knows after how many more decades Pakistan will again get an oppty to win a match against India.. 🤣 😂 🤣 😂

Icc ct 2017 final only game which they outplayed us... 1990s pak was a great team and India was comparatively weaker but in 2010s Ind was way better than pak

even in those time, India's batting line up was still okay with the likes of Sachin, Ganguly, Azhar and Jadeja. But, bowling was very ordinary except Kumble and Srinath being little useful. On the otherhand, Pakistan great bowling strength with the likes of Waseem, Waqar, Aqiv, Sohaib and Saqlain.

This was the golden era of Pakistani cricket when Pakistan ruled international cricket

Pakistan actually had a very shallow batting line-up but Akram's two early wickets and Akhtar's aggression, plus some excellent fielding, completely destroyed the Indian batting line-up. Ganguly was good though. It's easy to see why he was made captain after Azharuddin. Anwar, Ijaz and Inzamam were the only batsmen of class Pakistan had and they did their job as expected. yeah people forget this. It is also a big reason Pakistan lost the 1999 WC final. I love that side and it was a world class attack probably best ever for Pakistan but about half the batsmen were hit and miss and this was a factor in Aussies winning

Pakistan should have won WC 1999 - they were the best Limited Overs team in the late 90s and were in fact the best team in the 99 WC. They just collapsed massively in the final and Australia got lucky - and then from that point on Australia completely dominated world cricket for about decade!

Meh I love the 1999 WC team my fave but it had a very clear batting weakness. It had the best attack in the world for sure but it was very much bowler-skewed which Australia exploited. South Africa's team was fractionally better except they lacked a spinner, but their batsmen were more solid.

It was the time when Pakistan used to rule the world cricket.

Those days, what a team Pakistan had !!! You will rarely find a loop whole in that squad..They used to thrash us regularly till 2000..

@@ltnoormalik9358 Not till now exactly. India started beating Pakistan from 2000 on wards when players like Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Saurabh, Laxmana, Rahul Dravid, Gambhir, Raina, Zaheer, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan, Kumble all these have turned in to match winners.

@@ltnoormalik9358 Arey bhaijaan, no need to surrender on WC victories. There is always a huge pressure on the players of both the sides, so one will win & the other will loose for sure. Some day it would be India & some day Pakistan. I just love their matches. I just said that Pakistan was a very stronger side those days, India started winning after 2000 on wards. But the team which had players like Saeed Anwar, Amir Sohail to open, Izaz, Inzi, Afridi to follow with All rounders like Razzaq and Azhar Mehmood. Bowlers like Wasim Waqar Shoib Saqlin who can destroy any opposition single handedly was something else. After their retirement, the team hasn't been the same. But I hope they will rise again just like they are doing now.

This has to be my fav Pak side of all time. Look at the players - Anwar, Afridi, Ijaz, Inzi, Yousuf, Shoaib, Azhar, Saqlain & Wasim.. that's 9 players who'd give nightmares to the Indian players and fans

Yeah

I remember coming home from school and watching this match as a 7 year old. I was so anxious all morning and then seeing that first over just made my whole day. Wasim Akram, Saeed Anwar and Waqar are truly irreplaceable.

Zaberdust ....kiya match tha ...just love the way Pakistan ball , bat and fielded.

Myself openen sharjhan cricket team comes back with friends always stay safe here's

There were more legend cricketer both of two team, fantastic played by Pakistan, the golden Time of cricket, miss that time
