He really was,! Not Devonshire's greatest performance but he was magic too, especially in the semi final games vs Everton that year

We had our first colour TV (a soviet one) for Christmas of 1979 so I could watch the FA Cup final in colour. As far as I remember this was the first FA Cup match in Hungarian television.

Trevor was the pre Dennis Bergkamp... just one touch,elegant.. poetry in motion.... pity he didn't win more titles

Only FA Cup Final I go to. Looking at the goal now, Pearson's shot was going well wide and the reactions of Brooking getting down to that with his head were amazing.

When this competition was a national event . Fuck the 21st century.

Devalued when Manchester Utd elected to not take part for some two bob international competition. They should have been kicked out for life.

Irish Arsenal and West Ham with players local to the club, when they played for the clubs because they dreamed for playing for them......and I'm a 35 year old, I envy the people who could witness the game at it's best in the 80's.

Arsenal played seventy matches that season by the time the final came we where shattered four games against Liverpool killed us really

In the days when supporters of the losing side would stay on afterwards to give their team a hand. These days, the modern fan just clears off at the final whistle, leaving the Cup to be celebrated in a half-empty stadium.

Missed this cup final - pity. Unfortunately I was traipsing the streets of Belfast with a rifle in my hand. Only found out the score when I got back to barracks bout an hour after the final whistle.

Assuming this video is uncut, it was less than a minute from Trevor scoring to kick off. Can that be right??

West ham were the 3rd second division team in an 8 year period (1973-80) to beat first division opposition in the fa cup final. The other 2 occasions were:- 1973. Sunderland 1 Leeds 0 1976 Southampton 1 Manchester United 0 In 1973 Sunderland were written off as nohopers but proved everybody wrong and west ham replicated it in 1980

Alongside the 1968 and 1982 finals both sides wearing their away strips and both great strips not the ridiculous colours teams now parade in.
