A love watching these old games from the 1970s and 80s when some off the parks didnt have any grass on them and were just all mud. Great players can play on that kind off surface!

I remember watching this match on tape delay here in California. It was shown on TV here the same day, Monday Feb. 24, 1997. I had only been West Ham for 8 years in 1997, and wouldn't get to attend a game at Upton Park for another 3 years, but you could FEEL the atmosphere watching this match! A non-football fan friend of mine watched this game with me and became a West Ham supporter because of it! The only game that came close to this one was the win v. Manchester United on the last game at Upton Park, IMO. This was a GREAT match. Beating Tottscum made it even better.

Only FA Cup Final I go to. Looking at the goal now, Pearson's shot was going well wide and the reactions of Brooking getting down to that with his head were amazing.
