I’d like the Bakerloo line if it didn’t go Overground and then terminate Underground. With the Piccadilly I understand because it goes to Heathrow where there is a loop but with the Bakerloo, no.
I like the seating arrangement in the bakerloo line.

I find it really interesting that the commuter rails (national rail service trains) operate so closely to the underground (subway).

If you mean the 'clicking' sound, it's part of the trains mechanism that notches the motors up and down. It's called the Rotary Pneumatic Accelerator.

It's called the 'Rotary Pneumatic Accelerator' and is part of the mechanism for the notching up and down of the trains' motors by the Driver. The train only has three 'gears' if you like - Shunt, Series and Parallel - so there is no real gradual way in which you can move the train. You just hold the setting and let the train pick up speed!
That's a nice sounding train you've got there, some nice sounds from the motors. Does the automatic voice go on strike once it goes underground, then?
@samwaddingham8615
8 жыл бұрын
no because its underground you cant hear it due to the speed of the train through the tunnel

Nice vid :) the motor kind of sounds like an AC unit! between 00:42 to 18:47 but great :D
At 3:03, you could've left it up to the cleaners to pick up the rubbish. Don't throw the Fanta bottle on the train!
The London Underground announcements are very similar to the Vancouver's SkyTrain announcements?
London Midland provides commuter and some long-distance services on the WCML, most of which terminate at London Euston
I love the old Victoria Line much better because it's the fastest but I had to say the 1972 stock train sounds extremely epic and on adventure with the high speed trains. So the Bakerloo Line did go faster & longer to arrive at Kenton all away from Harrow & Wealdstone

@FinnTom101

It’s actually the motor contactors tapping away if that’s the sound you are referring to. These taps are made by the contactors being sequentially applied as the motors transfer from each power stage as the power controller is moved. More modern trains like the 1992 stock and 1995 use digital drives to as a way of applying power to the motors whereas these 1972 stock trains use a mechanical means of applying power.

+Crystal Mover (Of Greater Anglia) Spot on mate. The 1972 stocks were ordered in a massive hurry to make up the shortfall of trains on the Northern Line. Ever hear the 72 stock go round one of the Bakerloo lines many sharp corners? A horrible grinding sound. And that's because the trains were designed for the victoria line which has only slight turns and therefore, they don't handle the turns so well.
There was a virgin pendalino passing by!

The "snap-snap" sounds that you hear are the resistors in the traction motor. Trains like this one use these kind traction motors which gradually release more power to the wheels while accelerating, it's done this way to prevent too much power going into the wheels and wheel-slip. Nowadays, trains like S stock and 2009 stock have motors controlled by a more modern, computerised system which does this more efficiently, hence the futuristic sounds they make.
