I love 1972 stock trains. 🚆!

I believe the oldest trains on the network 1972 stock since they have started replacing the C69s with S7s they are always closing stations on the Bakerloo line at the moment first Edgware road now Embankment very inconvinient considering where Embankment is placed

The 1972mk2 did start on the Jubilee line when it was new. It transferred over to the Bakerloo line in the late 1980s.

@@Enviri the 1972mk2 was busy helping out on the Bakerloo and Northern lines till the Jubilee line opened in 1979 and transferred there till the 1983 stock took over, they later went to the Bakerloo line to release the 1959 stock back to the Northern line. The 1972mk1 was focused on the Northern line whilst the 1972mk2 was built to help out where it was needed.

Great video as always but, a video of jubilee line or Northern line would be good. Northern line is mostly all ATO now apart from chalk farm to edgeware

I hear in the future the bakerloo line will be extended south of elephant and castle to Bromley and Hayes via New Cross Gate and Lewisham. Saw it when I was on my way home from college

The tunnel telephone wires have since been removed from the tunnel walls.

You kinda lack out on filming on the left side of stations on the Bakerloo line since there's a lot of people. You can film it next time when the Bakerloo line is extended south to Hayes or Beckenham Junction via New Cross Gate and Lewisham or even to Bromley Town Centre. :)

The Bakerloo line got the 1972mk2 stock in the late 1980s as management wanted to convert to one person operation and the 1959 stock running there, was not suitable for conversion as they were only built for driver and guard, whereas the 72mk2 could be converted. When the 72mk2 became available from the Northern and Jubilee lines, they were converted to driver only operation and then transferred to the Bakerloo, sending the 1959 stock back to the Northern Line. Later, when the 72mk1 was withdrawn from the Northern Line in the late 90s, a few were refurbished and converted to driver only working and added to the Bakerloo, to boost trains and to replace damaged and written off mk2 carriages. The mk1 cars have the black rubber seals around the door windows and the windows are longer. Most of the mk1s had their components recovered for spare parts, along with the 1967 ex Vic line stock.

The 1972 mk2 made its service debut on Jubilee line when it was the newbie then it eventually settled down on the Bakerloo line where it still serves today. It did help out on the Northern Line for a bit. Some ex Northern line 72mk1s have been converted to driver working only and refurb and working alongside cousin 1972mk2s on the Bakerloo. The 72 stock took over the 59 stock which was sent to the Northern line although the 59s helped out on the Jubilee and Bakerloo lines for sometime.

Because the Bakerloo Line 1972 Stock are actually derived from the 1967 Stock that ran on the Victoria Line, so these are 60s designs whereas the Piccadilly Line 1973 Stock are actual 70s designs. Maybe that’s why, I’m not sure

Embankment is opened now but at the time there's escalator works on the Bakerloo and Northern lines.

Does anyone know why it takes almost 50% longer to travel from Lambeth North to Elephant and Castle compared to vice versa? (about 140 seconds vs 95 seconds).

Depends on which service it is as at Elephant and Castle there is a junction which slows the time if they have to cross platforms. Crossing from the southbound Lambeth North platform to the northbound Elephant and castle platform will take extra time, whereas southbound to southbound elephant and castle wont take extra time however it will take extra take time to go from southbound Elephant and castle to northbound lambeth north.

@@SFSEfartman Thanks. A similar time thing happens between Hillingdon and Uxbridge when you compare the two journeys in both directions. One seems to be significantly longer, although I haven't timed it.

@@SFSEfartman Yes, that does increase journey time but that wouldn’t be enough to make it twice as slow. That combined with waiting for the platforms to be freed up at a terminus station like E&C however would be, it’s the exact same situation in Uxbridge

Maida Vale is the only underground station between Paddington and Queen’s Park that has yellow lights whereas Warwick Avenue and Kilburn Park have white lights. Not sure why

*****​ Yup it's so noisy that I can't even hear clearly or completely the announcements. I think in the future the new trains will have selective door opening so as for the Piccadilly line. Well, I think the Bakerloo line will have less because it has seven carriages rather than the six-carriage Piccadilly line trains

If you head up north of Queens Park, you can see overhead wires on the left of the train, all of the west coast national rail services
