I'm a democrat that donated to Obama 2x and Hillary this year (I am being objective here). I hated the speech because I didn't understand half the things he was saying. His tone was too constant and didn't ebb and flow. I couldn't follow the story arc. I'll listen to it again and see if I feel differently. All I can remember is him wiping his sweat twice. (not being pretentious, but I'm college educated.)

My favorite line: And when I think about the kind of president that I want for my girls and all our children, that is what I want. I want someone with the proven strength to persevere.Somebody who knows this job and takes it seriously. Somebody who understands that the issues of our nation are not black or white. It cannot be boiled down to 140 characters. Because when you have the nuclear codes at your fingertips and the military in your command, you can't make snap decisions. You can't have thin skin or a tendency to lash out. You need to be steady and measured and well-informed.

I agree to an extent, flagrant welfare is of course a negative thing, you're right. However, if you are short of a living wage due to something out of your control; in THAT case I am in favor of welfare to keep people off the streets. As for a second language, I completely disagree with you. I speak three languages, and have been to bilingual nations all over the planet, it brings nothing but benefit and perspective. And that's the beauty of living in a free nation comprised of immigrants: speak whatever language you want.

If Trump disappoints by the time 2020 rolls around, and Cory Booker runs for presidency, he has a great chance of winning. If Trump is a disappointment, voters will realize that their "anti-establishment" sentiments are not justified and Booker, being a more corporate Democrat with talent for public speaking, will be in a very good position to win. Elizabeth Warren is also a Democrat to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Obama had a great oratory at the 04 Democratic convention. That catapulted him into the spotlight. Most Americans vote based on an emotional connection. This was a very good speech.

It's a pleasure to hear a politician who actually knows American history and shares his knowledge eloquently with his audience. I think the biggest strike against Cory Booker being Hillary's running mate this year was that NJ Gov. Chris Christie would be appointing his replacement in the Senate.

Corey Booker likely sees himself in the image of Barack Obama. Liberal voters will love the sight and sound of him while ignoring the complete absence of substance. This man subjected the audience to what can generously be described as shrill babble without addressing a single serious policy issue.
