All very followable, thank you
Question: First, Upon the start of descent, you pressed “arrow up” for managed descent. Other videos show it being pulled, or “arrow down” for controlled descent. Is there any advantage to either? Secondly, what might be the reason for my aircraft not showing DES mode on the PFD when I press for either managed or controlled descent. Ive had this issue many times now, so there must be something Im overlooking. And by the way, Im really surprised that you havent received more views, likes, and comments. Great pace and instructive tutorial.

Press for managed descent, pull for open descent, managed will follow flight computer and vnav, open will descent disregarding any restriction in the flight plan. Not showing des mode, im not sure, may be milion reasons, i just cant have them just now on top of my head, but i will look into that and tell you when i figure out. Maybe you press descent before arrow on ND show, or something else.
What is the difference between approach phase in MCDU compared to approach button on FCU panel?

Approach phase start automatically (or you can trigger it manually) it will slow down an airplane, suggest flaps, and prepare it for landing. The approach button will arm LOC and GS.
