I disagree with weighing potatoes cooked. There’s so many variables with preparation/cooking, it’s more accurate to weigh potatoes raw.

I disagree, when you cook you cook out the water and other items in the potatoes. you want them cooked to get the right amount of complex carb

@michaeldaugherty2293

@@jaredrobinson7057 based on a website... "You should weigh potatoes before cooking because, during the cooking process, they lose the water content, which concentrates nutrients. Raw potatoes contain 79% of water. Cooking potatoes in boiling water reduces water content to 77%, oven-baking reduces to 75%, and frying reduces to 39%."
@jaredrobinson7057
Жыл бұрын
@@michaeldaugherty2293 as a bodybuilder you want to utilize the most complex carb you can to refuel you muscle and restore glycogen that you lose when you work out. Therefore weighing after cooked gives you the most carbohydrate you need to do that. You want to maximize as much carb you can get according to the cooked oz weight you are allowed to have in a meal. Again you want to remove what you don’t need by cooking the potatoes to maximize what you do need. Trust me as a body builder you make up the water you lose in the gallon of water a day you drink. I’d check the sources of this website you speak of.

A few culinary "sins" aside (really though, cook your food how YOU want it - he knows exactly what he likes and that's more than most people striving for someone else's idea of culinary perfection), the idea of just taking out the ground meat from the package and leaving it mostly as it came out from the machine is a good one. It leaves lots of pockets inside for juice to remain and doesn't overwork the meat further than the machine did. You might not get seasoning through to the inside, but he's right that it's most likely pretty tender and juicy and it's coupled with a crispy and seasoned exterior. Good enough for when you just need fuel that goes down easy.
